Spore: General / Would you buy Collector's Edition?
« on: November 20, 2007, 03:45:01 am »
Personally, I'm not really sure. Depends probably on the price vs extra material. However, I'd be neat if it had extensive interviews with the staff.

Spore: General / Want to see the power of procedural generation?
« on: April 09, 2007, 04:50:36 am »
I know the content is not directly connected to Spore, but they both focus on procedural generation. Anyway this is a demo by Farbrausch and is just under 200kb big.
In order to use the best settings you're probably going to need a decent video card. If you can't play the demo you can always download a video of it here:

Demos are programs that generate animation and music. They are usually pretty small, you can even find some pretty decent ones at only 4kb(!).

Spore: General / Anyone remember..?

Does anyone remember that video of Will where he was talking at some university? I remember someone making a thread about it here, but after searching for a while I still can't find it. It wasn't about spore which is probably why it didn't get so much attention here.

Spore: General / Changing from UFO to Creature?
« on: July 12, 2006, 09:53:14 am »
I'm sure at least someone of you played the cool game Dungeon Keeper. In that game you could "enter" any creature you controlled and I was wondering, what would you think about this ability in spore? Once I reach space age would it be possible to "enter"/change avatar to my creature and walk around like I did before tribal stage or other creatures which I've scanned with my migthy scanner and replicated with my powerful genetic manipulator.

I don't mean this as limited to the space stage, I'd love to be able to do this too when in tribal stage and the other stages too(I'm thinking tribal stage and up).

edit just changed the topic so it wouldn't be confusing.

Spore: General / Adapting to the current planet?
« on: June 13, 2006, 08:43:15 am »
After watching a short spore video, the one where Will shows how the monolith looks like. I was wondering, will generated/downloaded creatures adapt to the planet they are on?

Let's say that we have three planets. A, B and C. My creature is on planet A, planet C is uninhabited and there is a strange creature on planet B. My planet is the middle, C is closest to the sun(therefore the hottest) and B is farthest away(Coldest). If I were to terraform planet C it would still be hotter than the other planets and now let's say I capture a few of the critters on planet B, would they adapt to the current condition on C? Even if I were to add a few on my own(A) will they all evolve differently? In reality they would because the creatures on C would need to adapt to the heat, while on A they might need to adapt in order to defeate their predators.

What do you think? Has there been any mention of this, if so, could anyone point me in the direction?
