Spore: General / Question about new Spore Info
« on: April 21, 2007, 08:34:14 pm »
Okay, so a lot (yeah, right) of things have been happening around the spore community and I've been out of the loop. As far as I know new information is slow as ever and everything has been picked to the bones. More to the point of course, is I need some information on things that have either changed, been proven for a fact, or anything of the matter. I'm asking you for this because I wish to actually update sporewiki (oh wow, amazing!) as it seems it has fallen behind. Of course you all use it for your creatures, but that isn't its only job!

So please, tell me whats wrong with it or things that need to be updated and I will gladly search for the topics and update things as needed. For example... it seems there is another game phase?

ANY help would be much appriciated =D

Spore: General / Spore as a cultural icon?
« on: June 05, 2006, 03:13:28 pm »
Do you think spore could ever catch on as much as something like MySpace? Imagine going through your life talking to someone and somehow stumbling unto the game, becuase of course everyone plays it, and saying "yeah, I created the X" and your newly met aquantance goes "noooo way! Those X always killed me!" It would be cool if the game was so popular that everyone played it, and people knew each other by the creatures they made. Do you think that's a little too far fetched? I think not.

Spore: General / Proof the game isn't done?
« on: May 14, 2006, 03:54:29 pm »
When I saw Will's presentation, a few things struck me as odd becuase they shouldn't have happned in the game. Will flew a UFO over to a random planet, to find a city already there. He then set off some fireworks, to 'ooh and ahh' them, and this race of whatever started to bow down and worship Will's ufo. That makes sense in itself right? Find a race that is impressed by your technology so much so that it thinks you're a god. I would assume this would only be for races that are pretty far back in the evoloutionary stage. But then the funny thing is, Will tried to 'abduct' one of these men by taking him into his ship. The city that was worshiping him, was now firing lazers at him trying to shoot him down. After a quick battle, and some death, Will gets a message saying that he attacked a colony of a larger race and that his home world was under attack. Bascially war broke out.

I don't understand how it was intentonal to have a race with space travel capabilitys to worship another race that has spacecraft. Do you think this was a bug, and something to show that Spore really isn't done yet?

Everything Else / Okay, check this out.

This might be a little lame of me to do, but i spent WAY too much time trying to do it. It's my new sig! Doesn't look like much, does it? Well it does alot! Every time you refresh the page (image) it randomly chooses a new quote. But thats not even the cool thing, it reads the quote off an editable page on my wiki!
So now this image:
Will read quotes from this page:

My next step is to make it customizleable so people can make their own :)
Did this deserve its own thread? probably not... but i just think its soo awesome.

Spore: General / Real-Time Procedural Universe
« on: March 24, 2006, 12:45:30 am »
Apparently Sean O’Neil is the guy maxis hired to program the procedural planets for spore. He has a pretty neat demo for his work. I found the link on some random blog.  I did a search for the site, nothing came up. So i assume this is new to gamingsteve.

Spore: General / Mini-Games
« on: March 18, 2006, 07:57:13 pm »
I think since spore is a sandbox game, we'll be spending ALOT of time playing it. Wouldn't it be awesome if there were other things to do? Such as random mini games like there were in FF7 or something? For example, design a vehicle and race it on a simple track. Just basic mini-games would be super fun. Or like soccer or something with your creatures, just really simple but fun minigames randomly about? A few puzzles or something, like you find a beacon in space which is a treasure map. You try to solve the clues and you find a planet with burried treasure or something. These things would be pretty simple and make your spore experience a hell of alot more fun.

Spore: General / The adaptiaton of parts
« on: March 17, 2006, 12:06:01 am »
Well, i was reading this artcile:
And it shows that some things might be 'stolen' to be used as other things. It shows how the ear might not have been originally an ear but something else but was changed to be used as one. Could that have any pratical application in spore? If the ammount of things you could change on your creature were based on a point system of some sort then it means it could be cheaper to  upgrade old parts then generate entirely new ones. I don't know how it will work specificly, but i doubt you can just go in and change anything you want. I think the idea of rapidly evolving your creature from a rat to a elephant would be kind of weird.

Spore: General / Spore at E3?

Is spore going to be at this upcoming E3? That would be pretty awesome, if they release some good info I want to record all of it!

Spore: General / Colors
« on: March 01, 2006, 09:47:09 pm »
Okay, this is also another philosophical type post. It's going to deal with the wavelengths our creatures can see. Are we going to be able to design creatures with the "x-ray" type vision, and are we just going to assume that the colors we see are the same ones they see?

Though the exact status of color is certainly a matter of current philosophical dispute, color is arguably a psychophysical phenomenon that exists only in our minds. (See Qualia, for some of that dispute.) A "red" apple does not give off "red light", and it is misleading to think of things that we see, or of light itself, as objectively colored at all. Rather, the apple simply absorbs light of various wavelengths shining on it to different degrees, in such a way that the unabsorbed light which it reflects is perceived as red. An apple is perceived to be red only because normal human color vision perceives light with different mixes of wavelengths differently—and we have language to describe that difference.

I think it would be pretty awesome if my creature could see infared, microwave, and radiowaves.

Spore: General / Could the game do this?
« on: February 04, 2006, 05:07:15 pm »
I don't know if the game would be able to do this, becuase it's so damn weird, but wouldn't it be cool if you made some of these!

Spore: General / Artificial Intelligence
« on: January 08, 2006, 08:25:19 pm »
I've once heard that the next step in Human Evoloution is the combination of digitial and analog, or the melding of mind and body to put it simply.  But anyways, an AI within of an AI, can or will it be done? That's the next step in evoloution, philosophicaly.
