Spore: General / Graphic Quality Issues
« on: September 08, 2008, 09:37:27 pm »
I don't know if anyone has noticed this but your buildings and vehicles int he civilization stage are not high quality reproductions of what the editor shows you. While you are building the vehicles or buildings they have high resolution textures and lighting, however in the actual game they are fairly low resolution textures and look horrible. All my other friends have the same issue and we have "uber" computers, lol. Everything is set on high and we all have this issue...go test it out. Look at the editor version of the model and then check out the actual in game model....they are very different.

Spore: General / Space Stage, Income Issues...hel? (Spoilers)

I feel like I am doing something wrong here or really missing a strategy. I only have two colonies, my home colony as well as a one colony outside of my solar system....and I have been playing for a few hours. I feel like I can not get enough money.

I can only trade spice for 250 sporebucks a piece, yet those alien bastards will sell some to me for 2,500 a piece. I have been doing random missions, but I can not seem to get enough spice to do anything with it, since it trades for so little. I have a chance to buy out a solar system, but I do not have nearly enough money. I am sittle around with 30-50 thousand sporebucks at any given time.

I agree and disagree with some of their standings.

For one they compare this game to the Sims and I can assure you (having played both games), there is far more gameplay elements to this game then there ever were in Sims.

Also Spore lays the ground work for future expansions to help add depth to the game. I have always known Spore was going to have large breathe and minimal depth, however the sheer size of the game makes it that much more understanding. It is like an MMO, it has a solid frame work to go off pf and then more material is added to expand on the initial vision.

I was wondering if procedural verbs will still allow us to drag dead creatures and such. It seemed like a great opportunity to be able to interact with the world, however we will have not seen anything on this since the GDC 05' Video. No creature has dragged or dropped anything, there are plenty of other uses for procedural verbs and it would be a waste not to have different ways to interact with the environment.

Has anyone seen, heard, or read anything about this being in the game or not?

Spore: General / Spore Will Out Sell the Sims
« on: February 19, 2008, 12:33:34 pm »;title;3

The latest article here from gamespot says the Sims franchise has sold over 100 million (or will next month) copies.

Personally, I think spore has the ability to be able to outsell the Sims as a whole because of its broadness. If they do digital downloads and digital expansions back via microstransactions then these should also count towards that number. Spore should be able to do what the Sims is about to do in almost eight years as a franchise in half the time. I believe in about five years time Spore should be right around the same milestone, as long as they count the things I mentioned.

What do you guys believe?

Spore: General / Is Feathers and Fur Still in the Game?
« on: February 14, 2008, 02:59:06 pm »
I have not seen any new creatures or anywhere in any of the texture editors that shows fur or feathers, since almost a year or more ago when uploaded some of the creatures you could make. All of the creatures we have seen have either had strips, solid colors, or slight bump mapping to them.

I do hope that they have not axed the more advanced textures, I have always been looking froward to playing with scales, feathers, and fur.

Spore: General / Creature Screenshot Confusion
« on: August 29, 2007, 12:09:27 am »
Well, I know nothing that we really say here is definitive, however after looking at quite a few new screens shots of the creatures...I am now confused.

Reason being it seems as if there are two different qualities of creatures ones that take place in game and pre-rendered creatures. I am just guessing that they are prerenders or are they actually what the in game editor is suppose to be capable of.

We have some very high poly models with exceptional detail, while some of the others are "flat" and the textures are stretched. Some examples to compare what I am referring to.

High detail render

Low polygon render, with flat/stretched texturing

What do you think this means, I am so confused by these screenshots and the dramatic difference in quality.
