Everything Else / End of the Exams!!!
« on: June 16, 2006, 05:45:30 am »
Yipeee!!! It was the last GCSE exam for me today (Physics). Finally, least for three months, then college rears it's ugly head. Oh well, just thought I'd let ya know.  :D ;D :D

Everything Else / Favourite Pet
« on: June 13, 2006, 10:44:27 am »
If you had to have only one pet, what would it be? (Has to be realistic...for example, dragons or blue whales don't count  :P). I have a dog, so that is my choice, but I also have fish and stickinsects, but they come second to my dog....that's right, you're not hallucinating - stickinsects. Hey, at least I don't have Giant African Landsnails anymore...about the size of your fist, and have several hundred babies at a time....for some reason, after a while my mum decided they weren't practical...I have no idea why.  :-\

PC Games / Light at the end of the tunnel....
« on: June 07, 2006, 10:52:35 am »
Well, it will soon be here. The 16th June. Final exam day.

I have been waiting for this so long, not just for the obvious reason. My subscription for WoW ran out on the final day of March. I innocently hinted to dear mum that I would get another 60 day game card, as it would only clash with the first two exams (RE and English Literature. meh). To my suprise, she basically said no way. Bear in mind I was, and still am getting straight As (except for German  >:(), yet she thought it suitable to deprive me of one of my major sources of entertainment. Nice. Well, the 77 days that I have been without WoW will soon be up, and I can finally get back to the old ways. I have no doubt that my guild will have chucked me. Friends deleted me. Honour vanished.
However, my mum has had a surge of generosity, and allowed me to buy another 60 day game card next Friday. 2 hours a day - yeah whatever, I have no idea what she thinks I will be doing those 6 hours that she is at work  ;). Well, I just felt it necessary to tell you all, seeing the WoW OT forums with posts like "ZOMG, I got banned for a week!!!" really makes me want to scream.
So, how long have you guys been deprived from WoW, why, and what was it like? I need someone to make me feel better and say they got banned for a year.  :D

Everything Else / Discover yourself...

 Take the test:

 Post your results: Disorder  Rating
                            Paranoid:  Moderate
                             Schizoid:  Low
                         Schizotypal:  Moderate
                            Antisocial:  Low
                           Borderline:  Low
                            Histrionic:  Moderate
                          Narcissistic:  Low
                            Avoidant:  Low
                         Dependent:  Low
            Obsessive-Compulsive:  Moderate

P.S: If this test has been mentioned on these forums before, feel free to slap me  ;)

EDIT: Kudos to Krakow Sam for discovering the Dante's Inferno test. This is much more focussed around religious beliefs, but still very interesting. Heres the link: According to this test I'm going to Level 1 of Hell - Limbo.

EDIT2: As we all seem have a thirst for knowledge regarding ourselves, I have a third personality test for your consumption. It gives you a personality type and provides a better insight into your mind. Here is the all important link: I got "Mastermind". Woo-Hoo

EDIT3:  Heres a test that compares you to an animal (I know I phrased that badly, but never mind) - I got Cat: Cats are curious and agile, as well as highly independent. They also have a distinct mischievous side and can get themselves into trouble. You embody these characteristics.

Another test for your popularity: I got 44% - You are only somewhat popular. You are the average kid who just casually gets through the day. It's not necessarily a bad thing to be. However, your popularity score has a lot of room for improvement if that is what you want. No suprises there then.

Finally, one for your "genius level": I got 42%, which was disappointing, but I am only 15! (that's my excuse for everything), and I beat my friends, so I'm relatively content.

EDIT4: With all these tests concerning discovering yourself, this thread is missing something. That something is the good, old-fashioned IQ test. This is the one that I think would be best to use:, as it seems very comprehensive and also provides you with an "intellectual type".

My result was 131 - "Your Intellectual Type is Visionary Philosopher. This means you are highly intelligent and have a powerful mix of skills and insight that can be applied in a variety of different ways. Like Plato, your exceptional math and verbal skills make you very adept at explaining things to others — and at anticipating and predicting patterns".

EDIT5: After doing the Intelligence Quota, it was decided that an Emotional Quota would be complementary, so here it is: I got 70% - I have an average EQ. meh

PC Games / WoW- What sex do you play?
« on: May 06, 2006, 08:59:24 am »
Hi all. I have been browsing the WoW off-topic forums (yes, I am insane :P) and it seems that players get quite touchy about what sex of character they prefer to play. Heres the thread if you are interested:

Personally, I am male and play a male character as my main. I tried out a female character once, and I got harassed by guys asking me to marry them  :o - that was the first, and last time I played that character.

As usual, in this debate we can find the big must play a male if you're male, or you MUST be gay (even though it's quite possible they are gay, and are trying to hide it). Then we have those who would prefer playing a female character for aesthetic reasons (that I can understand - male characters are pretty butt ugly). Finally, we have those in the middle who just stir things and get everyone wound up.

As I can't post on the WoW forums at the moment (I am on a forced 2 month vacation from WoW, due to big exams and all  :'(), I thought I would see what the Gaming Steve community thinks, as you guys tend to be more mature about this kind of thing.

/vote and discuss  ;)

Spore: Creation Corner / Creature coloring and editing programs
« on: April 07, 2006, 10:31:21 am »
The concept art here is all really great, especially the way textures and colors are implemented using computer programs. I was wondering what programs you use to achieve such high quality effects, what they usually cost, and an example of them in action. Thanks.

PC Games / Wisps in WoW!!!
« on: April 01, 2006, 04:27:18 am »
Heres a classic April Fools, WoW style: Wisps...the new alliance race. Heres the link: It also looks like they can be rogues, hunters, druids, warriors and priests (studying the screenshots carefully). I personally think this is 100% April Fools, but hey, it had me for a second, and its definately an interesting concept! But.....wisp with a moustache...please  :D

Spore: Creation Corner / My new creature - Vizeara
« on: March 12, 2006, 06:34:49 am »
   Pronounced vI-z-eer-a.

This is the species that I am planning to create upon the release of Spore. I will update this thread as I draw more concept images. As you can see, the Vizeara are close relatives to dragons, but they are very different in many ways. I will elaborate further as I draw more, but until then, this is my first sketch of a Vizeara. This Vizeara is male...males have many large horns, while females are usually slightly bigger than males, with fewer, smaller horns and have larger wings in proportion to their body.

To be continued..... :D

Updated...Heres a color version (done in MS Paint!):

PC Games / WOW?
« on: December 27, 2005, 05:43:04 am »
Recently I have taken an interest in World of Warcraft. It looks like an awesome game, but my issue is the obvious one - money. It will cost me £34.99 to buy the game, and then after that £8.99 a month, which in total would cost me £133.88 for the first year of gameplay :o. Asking WOW players, and those who don't play the game, do you think it is worth that much money, or should I wait until next Autumn for Spore? ??? Please help me with this dilemma.
