Music / Saul Williams

Now, at the risk of looking close-minded, I don't listen to a whole lot of Hip Hop. The one-track, misogynist noise that clogs the airwaves is a bit more than a turn off.

Then I found Saul Williams. He isn't so much a hip-hop artist as he is a slam poet.  A damn good one, too. This caliber of these lyrics is stunning. Good, and almost-SFW examples are his popular pieces  Coded Language and Black Stacey. Also notable are his 'lesser' pieces such as List of Demands or the (youtubeless) Act III Scene II.

On top of all this, he is author of an excellent little book called The Dead Emcee scrolls.

Best. Movie. EVAR.

More badass than 300, less epic, but same general vibe of lampooning and paying the ultimate homage to a genre.

Freefall combat that puts Bond to shame.
Clive Owen using a carrot in more lethal ways than thought possible.
More bullets than Hardboiled.
Terrible one-liners.

Ok I did a search and I didn't find any threads like this, though it seems a pretty rich idea...

Here you post your ideas for games that could be made. Go into as much detail as you want.

I, for example, would like to see a game that had squad base tactics with 'plays' attached to commands. Like plays in american football. Everyone has seen those silly little diagrams with arrows and x's and o's. If you could have a editor, you could make your own plays for the mebers of your squad and attatch them to your commands. For example, instead of simply telling your men to advance, you could have some of them provide cover fire from behind obstacles while the other men advance. Or they could all sally forth at once. In the editor, you could create all sorts of crazy tactics. The editor would also have to be flexible to accomadate for different enviroments. It would be neat to see sixty four player action which each one commanding a four player squad. This would bring FPS games much closer to accounting for some sense of epic scale. I would also like too see a game with ridicous powers, not just bullet time to dodge bullets but shooting thmm ouf of the air or catching them iin your teeth, rambo style.

The Horror of Exsistence: All of the pain and terror of the world bearing down upon you like some hungry beast

The Torment of Nonbeing: Never to feel or to love, to see the sunlight fall upon the face of children or butterflies dance iin teh wind, to spend all of eternity floating in the icy cold of the void.

Has anyone else heard these quys? They are fairly big at our school. Irish punk rock, heck yeah. Lots of Catholic refrences, accordion, fiddle, harmonica, and some serious electrical guitar. Ive seen them in concert. Am i all alone?

Tney are not going to release the creature editor. Since this make up a huge portion of the game in which you design and test your creature (the creature stage, many people's favorite stae already) then it would just suck. It's not eh same as releasing the Sims editor early; It would like releasing a sims editor where you could edit your sims skills, job, relationships, and memories. Or releasting an AoE editor where you could design your towns, researched techs, resources, and all the in game stuff and then just lay it down like a footprint. It would also not make much sense to release a creature editor for the in game NPC content, since that would defeat the purpose of the whole pollination system. Instead of having othe players content, they would be encouraging that you play in your own little wourld of just you, you, you. Since designing your creature is such an in depth and ongoing game process, i think that it would ruin a huge part of the game.

btw, the plant editor is fine.

Spore: General / Possible domestication of animals

In the video (in high def/ cable speed ) you can see a group of monopods hopping around behind the tribes hut. They are very concentrated and don't seem to be straying away. We know that farming is part of the civ stage, and that the willousaurses eat the monopods- This could definetly be evidence of a form of domestication of animals.

OK i was just thinking, what if there were certain mandatory parts in the game. Like you have to have at least one mouth, eye, and grasper.

Spore: General / Database thoughts

How do you think that the database should work? I think it would be cool to browse theá online database and pick out creatures: To be able to select which creatures and plants go into your world before it is created; To be able to see what the author is so that you could pick out more created by him; and to be able to create Groups where everyone in that group would share the creatures from their world, created by them or uploaded into the database. That would be really cool. Questions, comments, concerns.
