Well, sort of new. They basically show a fighting scene from the E3 2006 presentation, but at least numbers 2 to 5 of them have better quality than the videos.

Spore: General / From Spore to Space in 5-7 hours

I always knew that most stages of pore wouldn't be as in depth as fans of the corrresponding genres might lke them (which is quite fine for me), but I was really surprised when I heard how fast the game will progress throgh them. I didn't believe the first source but when it came from a second...:

We were told that it shouldn't take too long for the player to get through the preliminary parts of Spore to get to the space portion; about 5 to 7 hours.

In total, the two developers showing off Spore said that starting a game and getting to the space era will take between five and seven hours.

Personally I'm a bit dissappointed that I will probably not be able to see my species evolve over a long time as I could see my Sims (2) grow up slowly, but well, I'll get over it :-\

In the Sims 2 community EAs Lineups Video for E3 has become quite popular, in the Spore community it hasn't been talked about much - wrongly, as I think. It includes a hi res 640x320 version of the old spore trailer (towards the end) as well as some introduction seconds with small pieces of new stuff (few seconds into the video). If you haven't seen it yet, you can do so here:

The hi res video will take forever to load within the site, but there are ways to find and download the source video ;) When you are watching the intro part, you're likely not to catch everything in one view, because a lot of things are happening at once. There are a giant 6-eyed monster and a small but scary insect-like flying creature. There is also a black-and-white animated button with 6 images, 4 of which seem to show the evolution of a dog-like creatue, a tiny undefinable one and a creature that resembles a carnivorous plant (a Maxis favourite, as players of Sims 2 University and Sims Bustin Out know). Lastly there are a few noticable concept scetches. I have made pictures of these things and uploaded them to SimsZone.de, where you will find them in this news item. I ignored a tripod and a UFO (as those are also to be seen in the trailer, though posing differently) as well as some small planet pics that didn't seem too interesting to me.

Fileshack has a Gameplay video from EA/Maxis online that shows just a few minutes (3:47) of gameplay.

EDIT: Its the one seen before E3 on YouTube but way bigger - with 720 x 480 px resolution, though those are not completely used (it's still at least 640xsomething or more I guess).

I just updated SimsZone.de with the news about a new screenshot with this news item (so thats the important link ;)) about a screenshot I found on USAToday.com. It's not much but its nice anyway. :)

I just found this at the official GDC site: Will Wright Lecture! While the announcement does not take the risk of being too informative it seems unlikely that Will wouldn't mention Spore. :)

Also there will be two lectures about Prototyping with Maxis folks involved, though Spore is not mentioned: Chaim Gingold and Kyle Gabler (besides the already known Spore lectures to be held by Caryl Shaw and Eric Todd).

The sites seach function finds five more lectures for "Maxis", but those people are not employeed there anymore or have just worked for Maxis as consultants.

Coming back to Will himself, I can also say that he will already be talking about "Design Learning: How other fields can inform interactive design" at Living Game Worlds 2006 on February 16th - sounds a lot like Will Wright and a lot like Spore to me. :D I didn't think of you guys when I wrote a news on SimsZone.de about it on Friday, but I guess it's still in time. ;)

On a sidenote, Steve always says he doesn't know what Will is going to talk about at DICE Summit 2006. The site however states that he and Peter Molyneux will lead an "Interactive presentation on the greatest games of all time" (titled "The Battle of Bunker Hill"). I don't think this refers to unfinished games unfortunately. :-\
