Spore: General / Can't get something to work in a GA Adventure
« on: December 20, 2009, 12:06:56 pm »
I hope this is the right area to place this:

I want to do a simple thing in a GA adventure: A bunch of Thing As attack and try to destroy Thing B.

The problem? Even if I set Thing A to Allied To Me and Thing B to Enemy Team, they never attack.

How do I say "your job is to attack Thing Bs"?

First off, the one I'm really proud of:

The Last One's Redemption

"The Last One waited. It was all he could do. He did not require sleep, or exercise, nor nutrition. So, he waited. Just when he expected it to, a flash of light and a hiss of noise arose nearby. It was not a familiar one, but the mind behind it was. It was time.

The Last One chuckled to himself. Time? Time isn't the problem. Time is the solution."

Spent a lot of time on this one.

This one is, if memory serves, my first one. It's dead simple but there's a twist if you don't follow a certain comic.

The Search For Gomo

"Some people call me a criminal. Some call me a murderer. Some call me a monster. You know what? Guilty as charged. I'll slay anyone just for the fun of it, but I perfet to get some clink in my pocket for the deal. There's one person I've heard whispers about named Gomo. Everyone says he's tough. Real tough. I've hunted for him for years, and every lead I've found leads me to this backwater planet. Of course, finding a single person on a whole planet without a frakkin minimap is... oh, hello Space Captain. Want to help me find a guy named Gomo?

Spore: General / I can't find an Adventure that I want to ban...
« on: June 26, 2009, 12:54:02 am »
I've scoured the Sporepedia, but I can't find an Adventure called the Temple of Spode. Unlike Maxis ones, this one doesn't have respawning health-restorers. So naturally, it has no place in my game. But for the life of me, I can't find in my Sporepedia so that I can get rid of it!

Spore: General / Spore GA: Hope You Played As A Omnivore!
« on: June 25, 2009, 12:12:21 am »
So I load GA, cuz I'm excited and all. Get a peaceful herbivore race to the Space Stage.

Empire 1 wants me to escort a priest. That's fine, I'll try it.

Within about 30 seconds, I lose because, as a peaceful herbivore, I have no combat skills.

I reload. After all, that's what you do in Space Stage; if the Empire gives you a mission you don't want to do, you reload and get another mission.

What? They want me to escort another priest? Frak!

So I try another Empire. Another combat mission, for a peaceful herbivore. Another mission that I'm offered again when I reload my game. Which is, despite reloading, keeping track of every failed mission.

Spore GA: Hope You Built Up Your Creatures To Do Everything!

Is there any way, outside of dragging and dropping every single one of my creations onto the Sporecast name, to make a all-my-creations Sporecast to avoid them being culled?

So I'm playing again, and I had done the game enough that I had thought that I'd seen all of Spore's ruins / buildings / Things That Are There To Make You Think You Weren't The First Race On The Planet.

Then, in this playthrough, I notice that there's gears. Never seen them before. Which is odd, like I said, as I've seen what I've thought was all of them.

So, am I just not randomly getting the right ones, or is Maxis uploading more secretly with every update?

Spore: General / Think C&C will be sold at Best Buy?
« on: November 17, 2008, 09:10:03 am »
I did a search at and for the parts pack, and couldnt find a single reference to it. The only store I could find a reference about it in is Circuit City.

Spore: General / Confirmed: Epics DO battle each other in Creature Stage!
« on: October 22, 2008, 07:31:57 pm »
So I'm playing around and I notice I'm between two Epics. Let's call them Epic A and Epic B. I try to get Epic B's bones, but I die in the attempt. I quickly hit escape (so my lair-mates don't die), and get back into the game.

When I come back, I see Epic A dead, and Epic B standing over him. Holy crap! Epics fight!

So I reload, and after a few attempts, I manage to get Epic A and Epic B towards each other. It's an unfair fight - Epic A was attacking Epic B from behind and Epic B simply couldn't turn around (animation glitch?). Eventually, Epic B fell.

best thing is? I got a video capture of it.

This is something I've not heard of, so I think I might have done something new. Anyone want to see it?

Spore: General / Do you use city Decorations?
« on: October 21, 2008, 08:29:02 pm »
I was simply curious. I decided to use them today just before going into my race's Space phase, and I liked how full and busy the place looked with all the trees and fountains.

If I was in control, I'd let the game place them, but I'd select which ones to place. Sort of odd to have a peaceful, diplomatic race and see lava fountains everywhere, heh.

So what about you?

Spore: General / The hell? I just lost ALL of my Achievements!
« on: October 20, 2008, 12:28:56 am »
So I load Spore, and I click on the Achievements tab. I'm logged in, and all of my achievements are gone.

I even look on the website, and it says the same thing - I have no achievements.

Everyone else seems to have them, but all of MINE are gone. :(

Despite all the DRM angst, the game is selling well.

Spore: General / The "Things I Stupidly Didn't Know About Spore" thread
« on: September 24, 2008, 07:35:32 pm »
Since I have two of them (doubling the number), I decided to make a thread where we shamelessly admit the things we didn't know about Spore.

Here are mine:

1) There's a second page of "bodies" for the vehicle editors. It wasn't until I pulled apart an ISD that I realized it.  :'(

2) The reason why I didn't get the "Use all the editors" achievement was because I didn't build a "Colony Land" Vehicle. (And I'm happy I got it; I like being able to make vehicles that didn't have all sorts of obvious widgets and doodads just for a mechanical reason.

Just a heads up:

I wanted to play as a carnivore, but have an omnivore mouth. Just looked better, I felt, when I was testing it out the designs and writing down which Cell Parts I needed in order to equip before the end of the cell phase.

So I played the cell stage as a carnivore, and swapped into a probiscus. Still, I only ate meat, and wound up with a Carnivore card when I went into the creature stage. No matter, though, right?

Wrong. The only mouths that got unlocked were carnivore mouths.

Spore: General / What's the "budget" for the Creature Stage (if any?)
« on: September 14, 2008, 06:56:24 pm »
So I've discovered that doing missions (impress / hunt 4 XXXXs) don't give DNA points after you've reached the final, move-to-tribal threshold. What, specifically, is that number? Is there any way to gain more points?

Has anyone else noticed this? Certain empires have gotten mad at me for not paying them tribute, despite them never asking. And given the way the diplomacy in the Space Stage works, the negative doesn't go away as time goes by, it gets worse.

Frankly, I think there's two bugs here: the negative relationship without reason, and the fact that the negative gets worse as time goes by. It should be a high negative when refused, but lessens over time.
