Spore: General / Question about Space stage - holograms.
« on: September 06, 2008, 12:32:24 pm »
I understand you are able to beam down a hologram of yourself from the UFO onto worlds to explore and look around. Can you:

a) Do this on inhospitable worlds, ie. lava planets?
b) Walk around inside tribe villages/civ cities like that? And if so, do they react to your presence?

Cheers.

Spore: General / End game plans?
« on: August 13, 2008, 10:49:06 am »
Okay, so you've finished the Space quest, got to the centre of galaxy, unlocked everything there is to unlock. What do you plan to do next?

I'm thinking of trying to find some of my creatures - though I won't be actively searching for them, just exploring for any interesting ones - and more actively, give myself as large a challenge as possible. By this I mean I will either find, or genetically engineer a species to be as powerful as possible, put them on a temperate planet, supply them with easy food, kill their enemies etc. etc. until they are a mighty space-faring empire, and then fight them. If I can beat them, I do it again, and make them even stronger this time, until eventually I create the ultimate species, and in doing so keep myself occupied for a looooong time.

So, how about you?

Spore: General / I don't get some of you people...
« on: August 12, 2008, 04:29:34 am »
I've seen a lot of posts where people are saying when they get Spore, they'll take one of their pre-made creations, and start at the space stage - why?

You'd be missing out on a huge part of the game, and while you could always start again at one point, it wouldn't be the same as your first play-through, as a lot of the surprises would now be spoilt for you.

The way I see it is getting a delicious cake, then eating all the icing. Sure the icing's nice, but it just isn't the same without the cake. And when you finally get round to eating the cake, the icing's gone, and the cake just isn't as good any more, and nothing can bring that icing back.

Spore: General / Gas Giants?
« on: August 11, 2008, 07:18:59 am »
I'm curious about them - in videos of the space stage, I've seen what appear to be gas giant planets, but I've seen no info on the size of them, or whether it's actually possible to colonize them, or if there even is a surface to them, or if they are just a ball of gas.

So yeah, any info as to what they're like, in form of articles/videos/whatever would be most welcome ^^

Spore: General / A problem with the creature creator...
« on: July 06, 2008, 06:21:50 am »
Not a technical one, but one with the creatures people are creating.

Almost all of them are just too good. I mean that they all have very high stats, and so the vast majority of them will either almost never be seen, or make the game far too hard. Of course a few people are making purposefully weak creatures, but there aren't very many of these.

From what I can see, the spore food chains won't sort themselves out until a few weeks after it's released, once everyone's started playing and are making creatures without all the parts.

Spore: General / Creature critiques
« on: June 19, 2008, 01:05:31 pm »
I've got a tonne of spare time at the moment, so if you want your creatures critiqued, post links to them on Sporepedia here and I'll get right on it.

I'd be cool if someone commented on mine as well - http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=srch-CaptainIndigo - but this isn't just a shameless plug, I'll comment on your whether you do for me as well or not - as long as I'm not completely inundated with people asking for comments that is >.>
