Spore: General / Mac OS X Gift Pack on Spore Front Page
« on: October 02, 2008, 01:27:05 pm »
(It's on the EU site anyway - not sure about the others)

Quote from the page: -

"The Mac OS X Gift Pack includes a small suite of tools that were written to experiment with some of the spore.com feeds.
On the disk image, you will find: a Dashboard widget that shows the current set of Featured Creations, a Dashboard widget that lets you see any spore.com user's latest creations, and a screen saver that shows images from a feed.
The README on the disk image will give you more information about installation."

Sounds interesting, so am downloading now!

I can't really comment as I've got the game, but my current computer can't play it!
Still saving for a new computer. Damned PPC Macs ;-)
(Bought it first, as I wanted the Galactic edition, and figured that it might sell out)

Spore: General / CC Problem: Running the Creature Creator on a Mac
« on: June 18, 2008, 07:37:35 pm »
All my Macs (3) are PPC ones, so I've not had the chance to try it myself yet (although I've been waiting since the original GDC'05 video surfaced).
Definitely time for an upgrade - around September methinks . . .

Anyway - enough whining - I was just wondering how it runs on people's Macs, considering that it uses Cider technology, and so is not 'technically' a native piece of Mac software.

Any speed issues?
Can you run it well at full resolution with all graphics options set to high?

If so, please post your Mac's specs here so I, and others in the same boat, have an idea whet kind of machines we need to aim at getting.

Thanks - you lucky buggers ;-)

Spore: General / Multiple saves and/or accounts?
« on: June 02, 2008, 11:13:49 am »
I've finally got round to showing my girlfriend just how amazing this games looks (thanks to the recent EA videos), after boring her about it since GDC 2005.
(I don't post much do I? Just a dirty lurker at heart)

One query I have is - will we both be able to have our own separate ongoing games with one copy of the game installed?

Obviously we won't be using the game at the same time, but will she be able to have a totally separate account on MySpore (or whatever it's going to be called).

We each have our own log-in accounts on the same computer, so I don't see any problem with saving separate games, but I was wondering whether you'd only be able to have one user account with EA per copy of the game.

Any ideas or answers anybody?
