Spore: General / Ideas For GA Adventures
« on: June 30, 2009, 02:45:52 am »
I'm suffering writers block and I've only completed one adventure so I thought it would be a cool idea to have a thread where people can post ideas for adventures and then it might help trigger inspiration.

Would also be interesting to see what people come up with based on the ideas.

So come on guys lets get creative.

Spore: General / Try running -nosound to improve performance
« on: September 23, 2008, 03:38:15 pm »
Hi Guys

In the official forum MaxisMorgan has requested people suffering from lag and invisible creature issues to run using a -nosound shortcut and post results in the following thread:

I have tried and noticed a vast improvement although there are still some issues. If more people try and post there experience I'm sure we can help sort this problem.

Spore: General / Back to my very first game and pleasantly suprised!!!
« on: September 15, 2008, 04:26:53 am »
Just decided to reload my very first run through Spore which I had abandoned due to treading on someones toes and getting punished for it. It may just be that I know know how to play but originally I had been beaten down to just my homeworld and I was constantly getting attacked which is the problem alot of people have had also I seemed to be getting eco-disasters frequently too.

On my reload today I managed to fend of the attacks and then take another colony so my empire now consisted of two which helped bring in Spice and improve things for me. I asked both my allies to attack the enemy empire and paid the small sum requested and they did the business. The enemy empire lost two colonies and whilst they attacked I targeted a third system which I managed to take so I now have 3 colonies.

The enemy is now on a back foot and I will make sure it doesn't recover also in about 1 hour gametime I only had one eco-disaster.

Has something been tweaked behind the scenes or am I getting better?

Having got 3 races into Space I'm finding the game has really opened up and my disappointment from expecting too much diminishes every time I play.

Has anyone else noticed these changes it might be an idea to try any abandoned saves and see if we can find out.

Spore: General / My Comments On Each Stage Of Spore
« on: September 07, 2008, 05:54:02 am »
Finally got the full version of Spore on the the 4th of August a day early in the UK and after reading some of the reviews I decided just to play and make up my own mind.

Started a game from the start and completed cell as an Herbivore thoroughly enjoyed this stage but pollinated content would really improve it. Replayed it three time and apart from the diet choice it's a nice quick introduction to the game.

When I first started creature I was very impressed with the whole look and feel and I have to say this is my favourite stage of the game. The fun comes from the unknown creatures you can come across. I try to comment on most user created content. After three more runs through it still feels fresh and new. One thing I've noticed is the user created creatures are better designed and also much more challenging than the Maxis creations over time this stage should get better and better.

My first run through tribal was a comedy of errors and the camera took alot of getting used to on previous attempts the strategy side has started to make itself known and although it's a lite rts it's still great fun. Again the user created content makes the whole thing feel fresh and interesting.

Only played the civ stage once and started off really confused but then it came together and made sense once I got the aircraft the game really opened up and it all ended too soon. The vehicle editors also really make this stage enjoyable. Hopefully as on the previous stages this will become more interesting and challenging.

Space now this is the real start of the game and my first attempt ended in disaster in the same way numerous people have commented on the forum. The other major problem thoroughout all the stages is the lack of an autosave. I spent hours going from creature to civ and Spore decided to lockup and it was a total reboot. I restarted and expected to start at the beginning of civ but no I went all the way back to my save in creature this was very annoying as you can imagine. So one thing I will stress save often and always at the beginning of a new stage.

Another downside is the fact that you can only have one save per planet and in the space stage one error can destroy your game as it currently stands. I enjoyed what I saw before things went wrong but make sure you build up your home colony to maximise spice production and also colonise as many planets as possible. Also when you explore make sure you scan all the plants and animals this will really pay off if you receive collection missions there. I really hate time limits in games and 3 mins to search a whole planet for a single tiny plant is a nightmare. If anyone knows how to turn these time limits off please let me know.

Overall Spore I feel is a basis for what is sure to become a fantastic game and after three and a half years it could never live up to all the hype so play it slowly don't rush and enjoy the ride. Comment on creatures, have a laugh and keep creating the game will grow and we the users will really create a fantastic universe on amazing creativity.

Spore: General / Problem Logging In
« on: September 04, 2008, 03:59:41 am »
Just got my copy a day early in the UK from Gameplay but when I try to login using the same details I have for the SCC and the online Sporepedia it won't let me and if I try the help link it gives me a 404 error.

Anyone any ideas? I don't want to reregister and lose all my hard work.

Spore: General / Anyone Ordered Through Gameplay In The Uk?
« on: September 02, 2008, 02:42:37 pm »
Been checking my pre-order all day and it has now updated to "Preparing For Despatch". Most games I order arrive the day before official release so fingers crossed I get it Thursday.

Booked the day off work not sure what I'll do if it doesn't arrive. Can't believe the wait is nearly over!!!!!

Spore: General / How does content enter the game?
« on: August 21, 2008, 11:19:34 am »
I have been wondering about this for a while now.

When I first heard about Spore it gave the impression that all the content in the game would be downloaded from the online Sporepedia and the game would create a valid eco-system.

The more I have been reading lately it sounds like Spore only imports content that has been downloaded by the user. This would mean the user has an idea of the content they are likely to see which I feel makes the discovery side of the game obsolete.

Has anyone got any comments on this to put my mind at rest?

I want to be able to leave my home planet and not know what to expect on the worlds I visit will this be possible?

« on: June 29, 2008, 04:06:32 am »

Just checked one of my creatures in the SCC and it now states "No comments allowed on spore shipping content". Anyone else noticed this and what does it mean?

Spore: General / Anyone Else Having Trouble With Sporemail?
« on: June 23, 2008, 07:45:54 am »
I have sent numerous postcards of my creatures to various friends and none of them have been able to view them they just get a webpage with errors.

I tried sending one to myself and also received errors. This is not good as the Sporemail system is a great way to get the game to people who haven't heard of it.

Hope this gets sorted because at the moment this is not a good advert for the game.

Just had a thought I bet all these creatures we are creating are been used to test the final stages of Spore. All the devs will be creating universes and the Sporepedia will be populating them.

Maybe in some screenshots or movies over the next few months we will spot our creations.

What do you guys think?

Spore: General / Worked once now won't load
« on: June 17, 2008, 10:15:15 am »
Just downloaded and installed the trial SCC from the UK Spore Website whilst I wait for the full version some time next year from EA.

I ran it once uploaded a creature and now whenever I run it I get to the EA logo screen and it returns to the desktop. I only shut it down because of the stupid upload one creature per play crap.

The leaked trial version ran fine this is turning into a total fiasco I have my doubts that Maxis can really pull Spore off and all the ambitious ideas are just not possible in the real world certainly not with EA in control.

The only think I have done since the trial version is update EADM as prompted on the SCC install.

Just checked the EA support site and they know about this problem the only solution is to uninstall the EADM. Which is great how are we supposed to download the complete SCC the?

What a bunch of prats.

Can anyone give me a simple way to cancel my EA order I'm going to use Direct2Drive they don't deserve my business.

Hi All

Here are some links to my creatures:

I would like to post some nice pics like some of you other guys but don't know how any help would be much appreciated. Also how do I use an animated avatar.

Hope someone can help.
