Spore: Creation Corner / My first creature - the Farentis
« on: July 16, 2007, 09:50:44 pm »
I'm so proud! Anyways, I just joined, and decided to make an alien race.

At the beginning of the formation of... whatever the planet's name is... no creatures existed. Going ahead 100 million years, the first animals (that you could see) had formed. Small, worm-like things drifted along the ocean floor, eating algae.

Farinti are small, weak creatures that live in massive groups of 50-100. They do not have eyes, and instead use their sense of feeling to tell where other creatures are. Their mouths are small holes, that suck up algae and small plants. To tell when to disperse, they have a special tail motion that warns the others. The main vibration sensors are in the colored stripe on their skin. When a Farinti mates, the female (who has a blue stripe), goes to the deep valley nearby the western land mass. They lay the eggs after spending all their energy on digging a hole with their mouth, then slap on some dirt to cover the hole. They usually die after that. Three months later, the males (Red striped) come to the valley, and choose a random group of children to teach. They bite the tail of the males in the group. When the fish-like creatures grow to 3 months old, the father leaves them. Most things that the Farinti know are learned at birth.

Name: Farinti
(All of the following are averages)
Life span: 10 revolutions
length: 29.7 cm
height: 8.3 cm
tail length: 10.3 cm
Speed: 10 km per hour
Weight: 1.69 kilograms
Natural Weapons: Large numbers
Senses: Touch, Taste

Now, after a while (1 million 200 thousand years), the Farinti become a land-dwelling creature.

This animal, the Farentis, has gained the limb known as a "Leg". The creature still had the fish scales, but now was able to breathe on land. One gill still remains from the fish-like stage, but is not usable. They have also formed a lung, a primitive vocal cord, and the old stripe grew into two. The first one is for gender, and the second for family (and tribe later on). The gill transformed into an ear within the time it was evolving. The leg is almost never used, instead they slither around, only getting on their leg if they have to get higher foliage. The mating season is around the middle of the year, and usually, the males have fights. These competitions involve the brightness of the stripes, and the length of the leg.

Name: Farentis
(All of the following are averages)
Life span: 19 revolutions
length: 24.3 cm
height: 9.7 cm
tail length: 6.1 cm
Speed: 4 km per hour
Strength- Carry on back: 1.3 Kilograms
Weight: 1.64 Kilograms
Natural Weapons: Large numbers
Senses: Sight, Touch, Hearing, Taste

Now, being 248,485,000 years after the creation of the planet, the Farentis had gained a second leg, and the beginning of an arm.

The second generation of Farentis now relied on their legs and new suction-cup feet much more. The single eye had started to split into 2. Also, the tail had shortened greatly, and was now less useful for swimming. The color of the scales had changed from the aqua to the more greenish color, to fit the forest area. The stripes still meant the same as they were many years ago. They now had hard eggs, and such laid them in burrows underground.

Name: Farentis
(All of the following are averages)
Life span: 28 revolutions
length: 19.6 cm
height: 11.4 cm
tail length: 4.1 cm
Speed: 8 km per hour
Strength- Carry: (on back) 1 kilogram
Weight: 1.32 Kilograms
Natural Weapons: Large numbers, Feet.
Senses: Sight, Touch, Hearing, Taste

Things to add:

-more evolutions
-about the planet
-about the solar system
-time line system

Hope it was okay for my first.

Update: Now you have to click for pics.
