Spore: General / Spoiler Data Hidden in Creature Creator
« on: June 27, 2008, 11:12:19 am »
This thread contains spoilers.

The user Gibbed at extracted some hidden data from the Creature Creator. Some of it contains spoilers for the full game, including a list of the weapons you can get and info about the gRob. Keep in mind that some of this stuff might not make it into the final game.

Here's some of the image data:

The Maxis Lllama returns (along with Strongbad?)!

Here's a folder of all the text files:

And here's the original thread with more info (scroll to the bottom of the page):

This is mostly a placeholder for now, but check out Jumpiphant, the elephant with an unfortunate trunk mutation (inspired by my brother):

More coming soon, but in the meantime all my stuff is on my sporepedia page is

Spore: General / Something that bugged me....
« on: May 10, 2006, 03:04:16 pm »
Something that bugged me in the new e3 demo presentation was that when Will edited his creature the first time all of the members of the previous generation of his creature changed to look like the new generation creature.

Anyone else notice this? Any ideas of why they would do that?

Spore: General / Wired Article

An interview with Will Wright was recently posted on the Wired website.,2879,67581,00.html

The most revealing part to me is:
" So the things that allow us to give the player the ability to edit a planet very easily are the same things we need to randomly generate a wide variety of planets, this procedural generation of the meshes and textures, etc."

The way this is stated implies that you can actually edit planets!

Spore: General / Death

Just wondering if anyone here had any ideas what might happen if your character dies in this game, like if you were eaten in the land-based section or if your UFO exploded.
Would you start over completely (unlikely)?
Or maybe take over another creature of the same species but lose all of your money/evolution points (if you die in the land section)?
If your UFO blows up maybe you have to build another one to continue?

I don't expect anyone to actually know the answers but I thought this would make an interesting discussion.

Spore: General / Interface and Controls
« on: March 17, 2005, 12:43:52 pm »
Hey Steve,
I was just wondering if you have any more details to tell us on the inteface and controls in this game.
Are there lots of text menus like the Sims or is it all graphical like in the pictures?
Does the interface ever change from the little box in the corner that you describe in your podcast?
Also, do you have any idea how the game was controlled in the parts where you played a single creature or the UFO (Was it mouse, keyboard, or a combination)?
