Spore: General / "Spore the game is ****" - Yahtzee
« on: September 07, 2008, 12:42:41 am »

Yahtzee talks with some other dudes about Spore.  Doesn't seem like he likes it.
However they haven't even gotten to the space stage.
The other guy who played Spore was literally screaming at his computer because he couldn't figure out how to give his creatures marraccas.
It's not really surprising, Yahtzee is a hardcore gamer and doesn't really seem like the person who'd like Spore.

It was too long and I was afraid of spoilers so I stopped when I was like 1/3 the way through.

Spore: General / What Would You Have Done Different?

I've noticed a lot of people whining about how Spore turned out, and I like to know, what would you want done differently in each stage?

Heh, you can't really do anything with the creature but it's still pretty cool.

According to this, originally they wanted eye sight to increase when you get better eyes, but they figured gamers would get impatient.

Spore: General / Creatures On Sporepedia That Piss You off
« on: August 23, 2008, 05:44:33 pm »
Bland and Unimaginitive creatures.
I could not find an example for this one, but you know what I mean.  Default paint job, 2 legs, 2 eyes, a mouth and 2 arms.  If you aren't going to try, just don't bother.

Name of a person.
Example - Steve
Wouldn't you guys just love to see a creature named Steve in your game?  Yeah me neither.

Unreadable names.
Example - gfgfgrtrt
If I saw gfgfgrtrt in my game, I'd be pissed.  The creature itself is alright, but the name just makes me hate it.  Why work on a creation and then name it something by smashing your fingers on the keyboard when there is a RANDOM NAME button right there.  I just don't get it.

When people don't capitalize names.
Example - digisaur
This is just a pet peeve of mine.

Minor edits of Maxis monsters.
Example - Froofa Search
There are about 1000 or so Froofa edits.  Come on, at least name it something totally different.

Real animal names
Example - Doggy
Another pet peeve, not a huge deal, it's just I think it'd be stupid duking it out in tribal stage with dogs or cats.

Balls of nothing.
Example - Ball
These things are just stupid.

Numbers in names.
Example - 123450129
I'm pretty sure no species would ever be called 123450129.

Got anything that you guys hate to see?
Also, delete this if there is a topic for this.

Spore: General / Differences in CCs
« on: August 23, 2008, 04:21:46 pm »
So I've been gone for a long time, I don't know if this has been addressed yet.

I went away from Spore for a bit when the Creature Creator came out, and now that it's only 14 days or so away, I've decided to come back.

I've been watching IGN's stuff on Spore, they just covered the Cell and creature stage.  Now while watching the Creature Stage video I noticed some odd things.

Here you see the creature editor in the video.

Here we see the one released in June or whenever.

-In the editor in the video, everything selected(Tabs and such) are highlighted in yellow, while the the other one highlights in green.  No big deal, but why change it?
-When an item is highlighted, such as the foot "Twopaw", the editor in the video shows the stats as "Level 2" or "Level 1" while the other has "+2" or "+1".
-The video creator has a shadow while the other does not.
-The stats bar seems to be changed, the type of eater they are is shown first in the video creator, and the icons seem changed.

Also, the flagella seen on the creature is not available in the creator so I did a search on "Twaddle" and actually found him in the Sporepedia...

He won't import to the creature creator for me, also his picture has a shadow.
Just some things I noticed.

Spore: General / Question About Actual Spore
« on: June 22, 2008, 06:26:30 pm »
So you know how random creatures are placed in the creature stage with your creature?

Well, do these random creatures come from our own personal database, meaning the ones we've downloaded, or the huge database at

I'm really confuzzled.

Spore: Roleplaying and Story Games / The Waltzars - Red Stripe Tribe
« on: June 21, 2008, 10:16:09 pm »
Waltzars are simple creatures.  They aren't too smart, so they rely on their god(AKA you guys) to choose their decisions.
The Red Stripe tribe has just had a huge battle with the Blue Stripes.  The Red Stripe Tribe used to have a large tribe of 20 members!  But they lost the battle, and have been brought down to 5.

You must help bring them back to the top!
Let's meet the members shall we?

(Note:  Females have two leaves.)

- Fin -

Fin is adventurous and never afraid of anything.  A cliff with spikes at the bottom?  Let's jump it!  A gigantic monster?  Let's kill it!  She's allways looking for fun and never wants to stop and wait for anything.

- Gar -

Gar is the biggest and toughest in the group.  He could take on two waltzars alone with his hands tied behind his back.  Unfortunately he's got an awful temper.  Let's just say he's almost killed some of his own people.

- Ker -

Ker is the genius of the group.  He's the only one who can do math.  Unfortunately he's as weak as a twig.  Most of the time he just plans battles but never actually fights them.

- Pon -

Pon hates working in any way.  It gets her leaves dirty and it means she actually has to put and effort into something.  Pon is lazy, and would rather spend an entire day looking at herself in the water than working.

- Pur -

Pur is scared of anything that moves.  The only reason he survived the giant battle was because he hid in the bushes.  However, he is a nice guy and is willing to help in any way he can.

It is now one day after the battle.  The tribe is hungry, they haven't eaten in a while.  Then they see something up ahead.

Fin:  Oooh!  Look!
Ker:  Those are froogs.  They are carnivores, but don't be scared they only eat the smallest of creatures.  They are quite friendly.  You can also obtain a nectar from their utters if you-
Gar:  Shut up Ker we know what stupid froogs are!
Pon:  What should we do with them?
Ker:  Well I think it would be most intelligent to befriend them so we can take their nectar and breed them.
Gar: Don't be stupid Ker!  They'd just be another mouth to feed!  Let's just kill em and eat em!  Froog meat is delicious!  Besides, the nectar taste like crud!
Pur:  But- but what if they attack us?  We could get killed!  Let's just leave them alone.
Fin:  Hmm...I have an idea!  Let's ask the gods!  Maybe they'll know what to do!  Gods, should we befriend and breed them, attack them and eat em, or leave them alone?

Sorry if this has been discussed, but if I upgrade from the disabled trial to the full version will it still be disabled?

Go to the Spore CC main menu and right click the galaxy.  Then spin it as fast as you can.

You'll be surprised what you see.

Spore: Sporepedia Exchange / BBsman's creature thread
« on: June 13, 2008, 09:36:56 pm »
Alright look, I'm buying the full version for 10 bucks so please no "PIRATE!  THIEF" claims alright?

Now, before I can get my creatures up, anyone know how to take a creature from the online sporepedia and get them into your game?
EDIT:  Well, I was afraid of getting ban cannoned so I made an alt account, bigbadfurgy.  Here are my creatures though, I'll get them back to me once I get my full version.

These creatures use their long limbs to reach high up branches to eat the creatures up there.

Shwallops live in shwampy areas and shwim all the time.  Shwallops swhim shwuper shweet.

Ragbuff: (my first creature)

The Ragbuff are a fierce race who would rather attack first, ask questions later.  The Ragbuff with the longest leaves is always the leader.

Apporm's dream of digging through a giant fruit, as big as their entire planet.  Someday, they hope they will find this fruit.

Aren't they cute?

Spore: Creation Corner / New Creature here!
« on: May 08, 2007, 10:23:48 pm »
This is the EAsaur, EA for short:

Basic info:

They lived many years ago on a planet called...Uh..."Gamezerx" or something.  EA used to be loved by a species called "Gamerz" who would always pay the EA money to get "Gaemz" which were the ultimate weapons.  But then, the Gamerz got into a war.  The species "Boardum" attacked the Gamerz, and the Gamerz requested backup from the EA.  EA supplied them with the weapons they needed and the Gamerz were winning the war for a while.  But then, the Boardums got better, and stronger.  EA told the Gamerz that the weapons they were giving them were new, but they looked exactly like the old ones!  An example of one of these weapons is the "Maddinfewtbaul".  Soon the Boardum was overcoming the Gamerz.  But suddenly, the EA announced a weapon to be released later on called "Spoar".  Spoar was highly anticipated due to how effective it would be against Boardum.  EA announced that they would release it around a certain time, and the Gamerz couldn't wait.  But then, the EA said that they needed to delay it another year.  Gamerz were a little shaken, but decided they could withstand the Boardum another year.  But after 2 more years, the Gamerz were losing the war.  They needed the Spoar, and fast!  A date was announced and many thought that they could wait just a little more.  But then, out of nowhere, the EA delayed the Spoar again!  The Gamerz couldn't hold the Boardum back anymore.  The Gamerz were destroyed by the Boardum.
