Everything Else / Is Gaming Steve in Prison?
« on: February 09, 2007, 07:40:00 pm »
He's been gone for a looong time.... Maybe he snuck into Will Wright's office in a crazy attempt to bring Spore to the masses but was caught? Should we send a rescue team?

Everything Else / ATTN Anyone: Writing Help Please!
« on: May 31, 2006, 04:53:26 pm »
I wrote a letter to my girlfriend and I would like to know if there is anything that you guys would change around order or word wise. Also, if you think it's cheesy and pathetic let me know.

You are at church right now, probably listening to music being sang by your choir or singing God's praises with your peers. You are smiling, eye's bright, hair looking like sunlight on an oak tree. You are wearing a camo t-shirt and blue jeans with adoreable and well broken-in Chucks feeling slightly sexy.

I am sitting at home, alone, listening to Silverchair tell me how much he misses his love and I agree. I am wearing shorts and a black shirt, wrapped in a black, velvety blanket because I am too lazy or maybe afraid of turning off the air conditioner for fear that it will just get hot again as soon as I sit back down. Truer words were never spoken in the Louisiana heat.

As I listen to the music coming from my speakers, trying to fade out and just sit, my mind keeps coming back to your face, your laugh, your smile and your gentle touch. You mean the world to me and I want nothing more than to be standing beside you, feeling the wind off your hands as you clap or smelling your hair as you turn ever so slightly with the music.

Rachel, I don't think you know how much you mean to me. I can honestly tell you that I have never known anyone like you, never been so enthralled with anyone at all. You are beautiful, sweet, goofy, sexy, smart, mature, caring, giving, trusting, adorable, wonderful, spontanious, random, and amazing.

Even with all of these great things you have going for you, I see something deeper still. I see a wise and knowing yet slightly afraid and insecure being behind your big, brown eyes. When I see this I want to hold you in my arms, kiss you, and let you know that everything is a-ok. I am here for you, will protect you,  hold you, kiss you, and I definatly will love you for who you are and how you make me feel.

I miss you so much Rachel. Thank you for changing my life. Thank you for letting me know that I am a sweet and caring person. Thank you for laughing at my stupid jokes, not cringing when I sing, and never putting me down. Thank you for being yourself, sharing your true feelings with me and watching the sun come up on Banks County High School's football field. I think it was the most beautiful sunset I've ever seen, the most beautiful one ever as far as I am concerned.

Lastly, thank you for praying for me as you most likely be doing in a few minutes, depending on if your preacher is feeling a little more Southern Baptist than usual.

With very much care and unending gratitude,

Ricky

PC Games / Hilarious Loading Screen Messages
« on: May 20, 2006, 11:06:12 am »
I was playing Auto Assault Free Trial lastnight and I started noticing the loading screen text. Below are some examples.

Dealing in Darksided things.  (That's a reference to that Crazy Trading Spouses lady)

Looking up stuff on the internets.

Obsoleting Orcs

Nooooooooooooooo.    (Darth Vader's cry)

Joining Que for Frozenwolf.    (That's a stab at WOW's notoriously over-populated servers)

Saving, Taking half damage.

Burning Buildings

Tightening the graphics on Level 3

PC Games / Auto Assault 14-day free trial. No Credit Card Needed!
« on: May 19, 2006, 07:42:43 am »
https://secure.plaync.com/ cgi-bin/free_trial.pl?partner=10

I'm pretty sure that's the link but I'm at work so I can't test it. If it doesn't work for you, just search Google for "Auto Assault free trial".

Anyways, I downloaded the game yesterday (took about 3 hours on Cable @ 192kbs) and finally got to play for about an hour before I had to go to bed.

My first impressions:

Very quest based, not really a grind at all.

Combat is fast paced, dynamic and should get your heart pumping.

Even at level 1-4 I was finding weapon upgrades including a sweet looking mortor and blood sprayer.

Game is like a larger Twisted Metal Black. Driving around is VERY fun, combat is awesome, quests are simple so far (go kill X Pike Footpads, go collect X contaminated Ore) but I can't really see myself paying money to play it due to the polish factor.

The game is fun like an arcade game, not like a MMO if that makes sense to you. If you read full length reviews elsewere on the internet they will pretty much say the same thing. Combat is fun, driving is great but the game needs lots of polish and tender love and care to make it truely shine.

I FULLY suggest downloading this free trial however. There is nothing like blowing up buildings while being chased thru contaminated ruins by speederbikes.

Everything Else / Just finished teaching my class, awesome ratings!
« on: April 11, 2006, 01:58:01 pm »
I had to teach a Self-Aid and Buddy Care class to a few people from my Squadron today and it was a great success. If anyone needs to know how to splint or control bleeding just ask your resident Safety Guru!

Everything Else / Got shot down by a girl for the first time...
« on: April 08, 2006, 12:53:03 pm »
And it wasn't my fault!

I was at a local bar waiting on my friends to show up when this girl that worked there started talking to me. We were just talking about nothing and everything and she would have to keep leaving to take people there drinks but would always say, "I'll be right back, don't go anywhere!" I don't care who you are but you have to know that she was flirting with me. Anyways we talked for around an hour and a half when my friends show up. I introduce everyone to her and she just keeps coming over and talking to me. Everyone keeps saying that I need to ask her for her number and I told them that I was planning on it later once I got to know her better.

Enter Cockblock stage right

She comes back and we start talking again when one of my friends jumps beside us and says "I'm sorry but I just have to clear the air. Do you have a boyfriend, husband, lover, girlfriend or anyone else that would keep you from giving my man your number?" She says that she's single but doesn't give her phone number out to guys she meets at work. OH BURN! I just kinda stand there and apologize and say that I totally understand where she is coming from. Then I tell her where we're going to be and got the heck out of dodge.

I don't normally get turned down because I'm a damn nice guy but for some reason I keep thinking about this girl! Oh well, life goes on and there are more fish in the sea and all that jazz.

Everything Else / I'm not Sleepy, but...
« on: April 06, 2006, 07:37:07 pm »
I am going to bed. First I think I'll read more of my new book, Drawing of the Three (Stephen King's Dark Tower Series). So far the book is really good!

I've had some issues lately with anxiety following a really tough experiance I went through a while back and I just never can sleep! Does anyone have any tips on falling asleep when you're not sleepy at all?

I have some sleeping meds but tomorrow morning I have to run 1 1/2 miles for my PT test so I don't want to be groggy during the run.

Also, I would like to say that I am sorry for spamming LadyM.

Kaze is cute for a man.

PatMan's name isn't PacMan like I put in a previous post (sorry buddy).

I love each and every one of you. You are special and no matter how you feel about yourself, someone out in this crazy world thinks that you are beautiful and would more than likely die for you.

Goodnight GamingSteve Forumites!

Everything Else / BMI and why it makes me squeal with glee!
« on: April 04, 2006, 09:43:09 am »
Hi everyone! For so long the military has made me feel like a fat, disgusting hog of a man because of a thing called the PT Test. Once a year you are tested on waist measurement, push-ups, sit-ups and a 1 1/2 mile run. I always max out my push-ups and sit-ups and get around a 13 minute run time but my waist measurement kills my score.

The way the Air Force has it set up is that unless you have a 32-inch waist you can't max your score. I was measured today at a 36-inch waist, weighing 186 pounds and standing 6'2 1/2" tall.

Using these measurements I could only get "Marginal" score which would make me have to attend a "Healthy Living" class followed by remedial PT every day of the work-week. Basically it's just embarrassing and sucks.

I was kind of bummed out about it until I started reading the regulations on the PT test and found a nice little section about BMI which saids that if I had a BMI less than 25 I would automatically get full points for my waist measurement (which is like having a 32" waist). I found a bunch of BMI calculators on-line and lo'and behold I have a 23.9 BMI score.

Thank you science (and reading the regs) for saving my butt!

I know that none of this matters to you, but hopefully you can see that there are always alternatives, and you should know the rules.

Spore: General / SPORE=VAPORWARE
« on: April 03, 2006, 07:38:27 am »
So far only industry insiders have seen Spore. Sure we have fuzzy screenshots and drawings of this so called videogame but we could also see pictures of the Phantom gaming system. I am declaring SPORE as vaporware and only a demo will change my mind!

Discuss.

PC Games / Installing Oblivion? Grab a Snickers.
« on: March 21, 2006, 03:14:28 pm »
I picked up my pre-ordered copy this morning and then had to go to work. After enduring that torture I just got home and started the install. 20 minutes later and it's almost complete!

What have we learned? If you plan to install Oblivion, grab a Snickers.

« on: March 18, 2006, 04:53:09 pm »
Too bad I can't pick up the game until 10am this coming up Tuesday...

The guide is really great though. It's HUGE and in full color. All in all it is 368 pages of awesome.

Anyone else buy the guide?

Everything Else / Am I wrong for trying to help someone?
« on: March 16, 2006, 02:34:52 pm »
So, I was on a popular social site when I found a guy in the military stationed on base with me that is calling a 16 year old girl sexy, beautiful and not being able to wait to get home so they can "Have some fun". This guy is 20 years old.

I told a few friends about it and everyone agreed that the guy is creepy because she is underage and he's in the military and legal age for anyone in the military is 18 and you can get in serious trouble if it even looks like you're trying anything inappropriate.

I sent him a message telling him to be careful and that people were taking notices of his advances. I told him to do that stuff in private and not in an open website because military members are my family and we watch out for each other and didn't want him getting in trouble.

Well, as you may have guessed it, he blew up at me and told me to mind my own buisness.

Was I wrong for trying to help out a comrade?
