Spore: General / My little Spore-mischief of september the 3rd
« on: September 03, 2008, 10:14:16 am »
Hello honoured members of

Today when i woke up, i thought: "Why can't i have the game today?". I then decided that after my lesson at the University i would try to persuade a salesman to sell Spore before the official release (here in Denmark it's the 4th). I went to EA games: "Nope, you have to wait until tomorrow". I went to GAME: "No way, the official release is the 4th - NOT the 3rd"... On and on i went and played stupid: "Oh, i thought it came out today". After half a dozen gamingstores, i went down the priority list and went to Blockbuster where a trainee were being teached up in his new work: "Hello, i heard that you've received Spore and i want to buy it". The trainee clearly didn't know about the game and i spelled it out for him - he went to the stock room, got it and scanned it in: "399 Kroner please" (the danish credit: Kroner = Crowns").

So my tip to all who's still waiting: Just try your luck - be decisive and determined in your voice: don't ask for the game, demand it!

As for now, it's time to put the disc into my computer, and after 3 years of waiting, PLAY SPORE!!

IGN has now released two phase-videos in one week! I haven't seen this vid of the civilisation phase on the forums, so at least it's new to me:

Here you go:

Hey guys.
Today i finally made my choice of where to pre-order Spore from. I went to the gaming franchise GAME where i was told it was released the 4th of september. At first, i thought it was a rookie salesman giving me false information - however, i checked the nearby gaming-stores and they all confirmed it: Spore is to be released in Denmark the 4th of september!

I checked EA's danish homepage, and true enough - on the fifth line it states "will be available on MAC and PC in stores the 4th of september in Denmark:

Further confirmation is found here at a danish gaming-webshop:

So now i'm wondering - are there any other local areas where Spores has an earlier release-date?

Spore: General / Is it just me, or..?
« on: June 30, 2008, 05:27:25 am »
I'm feeling pretty stupid at the moment, seeing as my own creatures receive lots of comments, i can't figure out how to leave a comment on others creatures!?!?! It's not possible in the sporepedia in the game, and on i simply just can't seem to find any "comment" button. The only way i've found so far is going into "Sporepedia: Creature exchange", there you can see other peoples creatures AND leave a comment - besides; THE "COMMENT" FUNCTION DOESN'T WORK and have never done it..

So can anyone please help me with this tiresome problem?

Hi everyone.

Give yourself a challenge, and see if you can master the skill of making a creature that looks like several creatures!
Today, when i did the usual pulling and pushing the lump of "clay" in search of inspiration, this idea surfaced my mind. I would love to see what you guys can make of this challenge!

This is what i could come up with:

Say hello to the "Cavalry"  ;D (Yep, that's what i named it :) )

Spore: General / Tricks and shortcuts in the CC
« on: June 15, 2008, 09:03:11 am »
So, now that most of us has played around with the CC i wondered if anyone has discovered any tricks
Here's what i've got, but we already know these ones.

    • hold Ctrl + left click on part of limb = detaches part of limb (ex. thigh)
    • Alt + left click on limb = copy part.
    • Mouse wheel over a limb (not the joints but the space between the joints) to change muscle definition of the Forearm, Calf, Thigh, Upper Arm or what have you
    • hold tab while selecting a part to get advanced placement controls.
    • (in test mode) press spacebar to jump
    • (in test mode)Double click the ground to see your creature run full speed
    • To try out the different abilities, like glide/sing/attack, click on their icon in the upper right corner
    • You can use more than one mouth on top of each other to create some interesting jaw structures

    • In test drive mode:
W; Num 8; Up Arrow - Creature's Forward; Double to Run
S; Num 2; Down Arrow - Creature's Backward; Double to Run

Spore: General / The 3 Hidden Eurogamer videos
« on: May 23, 2008, 02:16:32 pm »
It's been a couple of days since i saw the IGN Creature Creator video for the first time. Tonight i decided to read through the pile of replies the thread has currently accumulated. While reading i was overwhelmed by the discovery of yet 3 awesome creature videos that has been hidden in that single thread - So, in my frustration that i might've missed these 3 mindblowing videos, I hereby notify all those of you who only scan the thread-titles in the lack of time to dwelve into the unlimited depth of gamingsteve replies.

These are by far the most experimental videos that i've seen so far. The creatures ain't pretty - but hilarious!

This one made me laugh - The Silliest Walk Trophy is hereby awarded to the Minkley Jnr. I love that someone finally dared to add some "potentially offensive" features to a creature  ;D (poor thing)

Say hello to our obese friend Monsieur EuroG

Don't miss this round little fellah

No one deserves to be left out of ANY spore vid!!! Hope you enjoyed it..

Hey dudes and gals.

Since we have an index thread for new articles, vids and interviews, i thought it suitable that we also have an index to note when we might get a glimpse or more of Spore at an event.
The London Sci-Fi was a big flop, so i hope that there is a more satisfactory event waiting around the corner. I hereby implore everyone who's got any info of an upcoming Spore event to share it with the rest of us in this thread.

The following index will be updated on a daily basis - feel free to post about any news concerning events!
May 25, 16:30 - "Game 2.0 - The next Level: A doc with Will Wright " on german tv 3sat: HERE'S THE RESULT:

Spore at E3 2008 -

Spore: General / Miniscule news
« on: March 15, 2008, 07:03:02 am »
I've just been reading the danish edition of the magazine Game Reactor where I, after several years of anticipation, found an article of Spore. The writer tried it at GDC, but definitely doesn't have any sort of Spore-fever so the article seems very dry and unenthusiastic - he gave Spore 3/5. The bastard  >:(. The article contained old pics and just gave the usual description of the stages.
However i was positively startled to read the following
The first phase is called "Cell phase" and begins with a meteor crashing into the ocean of a planet. Of this meteor comes the little microbe, which you created prior to the meteor-scene

Personally, i'm happy to know that you don't start off with a circular blob or a standard microbe, but the actual game begins with the microbe editor!

I was actually looking forward to see who's gonna be the chosen one. But after this time, i'm wondering if there is one at all.

I would imagine a Spore-Specific writer would make a mention of, let's say, the "Spore on Iphone" announcement.

Personally, I would like to sign up; be that golden beacon of information, reap the benefits EA will be dealing out.. you know, the sweet stuff. However, with the time i spend studying i simply just don't have the time.
I'd like to know if anybody has signed up for the post?

Spore: General / The press follows up on "before the holidays"
« on: February 01, 2008, 05:36:07 am »
Well, it seems like the press has awakened from yesterdays (thursdays) announcements.
But it looks like they too don't know exactly what they meant by "Before the holidays".. which eurogamer tries to interpret.

Well, whats your interpretation of "before the holidays?" At the very least, now we've got something to aim at :) Personally, i think they're referring to the summer-holidays, which fits perfect with my prediction of the 10th of June  :P

Spore: General / Flashback from January '07
« on: January 22, 2008, 01:10:34 pm »
Uh-oh, am i the only one who get the chillies when reading this? (not the info part - the release-date part)
I knooow that we've heard numerous false release-date guesses. But the thing is; time has consumed every single release-date there ever was, and now i recognise the trend from last year: A "septemberish" release-date is back on the menu boys!  :'(

Mac gamers have some rare good news. Spore, the much awaited EA game from Sims creator Will Wright will be out on the Mac as well as PC.

(EA. Mac, PC)

Spore is one of the most awaited games this year involving Wright's innovative approach to create a game that "allows creative personalities to explore the depths of their own personal galaxy."

This is how Wright explains it: "Spore is your own personal universe in a box. In this universe you can create and evolve life, establish tribes, build civilisations and even sculpt entire worlds. You have a variety of creation tools at your disposal that allow you to customise nearly aspect of your universe: creatures, vehicles, buildings, and even spaceships.

"While Spore is a single player game, your creations and other players' creations are automatically shared between your galaxy and theirs, providing a limitless number of worlds to explore and play.

"Spore is made up of five phases, each corresponding to a stage of evolution: cell, creature, tribe, civilisation and space. Each phase presents different challenges and goals.

Advertisement"You may choose to start with the cell phase and nurture one species from its humble aquatic origins to its evolution as a sentient species. Or you may decide to start building tribes or civilisations on multiple planets. What you do with your universe is up to you."

He's been working on it for years and it's due out at the end of September.

Before then, we've got some big games within the next few months.

Mr. Wright, if you read this, i implore you to prove me wrong!
You wan't the source? You got it:

Spore: General / Spore at D3 Expo Copenhagen
« on: November 02, 2007, 02:48:03 am »
Even though it´s not directly confirmed, there still is a pretty good chance of spore being presented at the D3 Expo, from 16-18 november. The site is in danish, but here's the essential from
Electronic Arts (EA) - Alle de velkendte EA-titler, herunder Fifa, NFS, samt en række nye titler. Desuden afholder EA FIFA interactive world cup, som en del af deres events.

Electronic Arts (EA) - All the wellknown EA-titles, including Fifa, NFS, and a number of new titles. Furthermore, EA FIFA is hosting an Interactive World [football] Cup as part of their event.

I'll cross my fingers that Spore qualifies under the category "New Titles".. Really, it seems EA is making a big thing out of this with a FIFA tournament and everything, it seems unlogical to me if they just completely ignores their most anticipated game!

Here's more:

"D3 AWARDS 2007

Once again D3 hosts the danish gaming-industry's answer to the Oscar Awards. Chosen gaming-journalists and other leading personalities from the danish and nordic gamingindustry will choose categories and nominations to this year D3 awards. The show begins november 16. and will this year be exlusively for the press, special invitations and Vip Ticket-holders.

D3 cooperates with Nordic Computergameprogramming and extents this year with the gamingconference "GAMES FOR THE PEOPLE". Computergames aren't what they has been before. From the status of electronic toy used by pimple-covered teenageboys the phenomenon is today grown to a billiondollar entertainment-industry, which occupies and relates to passionate gamers in all ages.

An important reason for visiting D3 is naturally to see and try out the newest gaming-titles, but this year you will also have the option to dive deeper down into the phenomenon, meet some of the people that daily works with the games and get answers on many of those inexcapable question that arises, when you first experience interactive entertainment.
