Spore: General / Help a doofus (me)
« on: May 30, 2008, 06:19:20 am »
I just tried to pre-order the creature creature from EA's UK store, and when I click the pre-order link, I get a pop up saying...

Before we can add SPORE™ Creature Creator to your basket, please make the following selections:

Below that is a picture of what is presumably the box art, and nothing else! The picture does nothing and there are no other links

Can somebody help me out?

Spore: General / Quick Question - 15th of Feb
« on: February 17, 2008, 09:48:34 am »
I dont think this has been brought up, but if it has, then feel free to call me a baboon and banish me to hell. Anyway, we were told of a Spore event in EA's London office on the 15th of Feb. I was under the impression that we'd be getting some information out of it, but so far, I've heard nothing

Could anybody clear this up for me? Or am I living in a dream world?

PC Games / Is my CD-Drive faulty?
« on: October 10, 2007, 08:42:37 am »
Hello all. I've a question

Since I've had my computer, I've had no real problems until just recently when I have tried to patch some games. Namely Company of Heroes, Battefield 2, and most recently, Armed Assault. In CoH and ArmA, both patcher utilities keep telling me that my game data is corrupt (no matter how many times I reinstall). With BF2, it doesn't tell me whats wrong, but rather just blurts out PATCHING FAILED expecting me to understand exactly why. But anyway, I was wondering if these patching errors meant that my DVD-ROM Drive was faulty. I was thinking of buying a new one, but I want to get a second opinion on it before I splash any money on a new one

Anybody got any helpful advice?  Thanks :)

Everything Else / Climate Chaos
« on: May 24, 2006, 03:16:33 pm »
We all know that the Earth is getting warmer. But exactly how much warmer? Maybe just a degree or two, or maybe Earth could turn into the next Venus within a few hundred years

Anyway, I waffle on ;D But the fact remains, global warming is real, and its not showing signs of stopping. We also know that there is sod all we can do about it...yet. The Earth is dying, and it needs your help to save it, and you can lend a small hand in doing so by contributing in this little test, which will last for a few months. All you need is a computer, with newer Windows version, or Linux.

Anybody remember SETI@Home? If not, you basically got sent bits of data which contain the results of scannings of outer-space. Your computer will analyse this data, and send it back off to the guys at SETI. It basically saves them time, because they dont have to keep running it on their computers, but can get the public to run it at home aswell. Well, the same principle applies here

The BBC have launched a new program in the United Kingdom recently which looks at the recent climate changes, and part of the show was talking about this new program which gets user's to participate in much the same way that SETI@Home works. You download the program, sign in, let the computer do the work, and send the results off to a place where they analyse it, and come up with an approximate guesstimation of how the Earth may look in however many years time

I just thought I'd let anybody here know if they are interested ;) Sorry for the extremely long message, I dont often type this much, honest

Spore: General / Yet another movie
« on: May 10, 2006, 07:59:27 am »
I've not seen this posted here yet (unless I've missed it, in which case, I'm sorry)

What we have is some old footage, compiled together, and some new footage too. Part way through, you can see that you can edit a planet in such a way as you would edit your landscape in Sim City 4 ;)

Just noticed as I was watching and typing this, alot of the content is in the other YouTube video, but this one is narrated by WW himself ;D

Spore: General / Smallest of references to Spore in Sim City 4 (?)
« on: January 27, 2006, 08:34:04 am »
I started playing Sim City 4 just earlier today. I was on the Region view, and the music was doing my head in, so I decided to go and turn the volume down. When I did that, I looked through the music list, and noticed one tune in particular

The name - "Primordial Dream"

I also noticed that this was the ONLY music track which had not been previously selected by default

All this probably means nothing, but it seems a bit coincidental. Especially since all the other tracks make no referral to anything too historical, unlike Primordial Dream. I wonder if that track will also be in Spore too. Maybe Steve (or anybody who was at the GDC for that matter) noticed this music in Will's presentation?

Click here for a screenshot. I assure you, both the screenshot and my version of SC4 are TOTALLY UN-MODDED in case your thinking I put that music track in there as part of a hoax :P

Like I said, I dunno if this is Will being the man he is, or just a coincidence. Opinions?

Spore: General / Building Placement
« on: August 26, 2005, 04:47:44 am »
I was looking at the GDC Video again earlier (about the 11th time) and noticed that when Will selected a building to put down, he dosn't actually select where its going to be placed... I noticed the same when he made the spear rack, camp fire, and tribal drums. Has anybody else noticed this, or am I going generally insane from watching the video too much?

Spore: General / Will planets 'end'?
« on: May 15, 2005, 11:51:50 am »
Hey all - First post  ;D

I was wondering if anybody knew if Will said whether or not worlds will end through natural causes in Spore. By that I mean like in Sim Earth (for those who've played it) where the world ends after 10 billion years due to the star your planet orbits exhausting its fuel. Does anybody know if a similar thing may happen in Spore?

Sorry if this has been posted before, i did a small search and couldn't find much

Thanks  :D
