Forum Games / Similar to land of the doubles
« on: January 16, 2006, 04:21:13 am »
OK Land of the doubles is good but it is just going around and around via the same format, and if anyone hasnt got it yet im not going to tell you now. So my game is that i will start with a word puzzle that someone has to solve and the first to get it right goes next.

Each puzzle has to follow the same format i.e, its in 'x' but not in 'y'
its in '1' but not in '2'

and so on i think about 3 or 4 lines per puzzle should be enough of course if no-one gets it the person to post should give the answer and either do an easier one or let someone else have a go.

Here are 2 examples and answers before i give my first puzzle:

its in sea but not in water
its in grass but not in green
its iin this but not in that
what is it?

Answer: the letter S

its in toilet but not in bathroom
its in news but not in reporting
its in wrapping but not in rapping

Answer: each of the first words can have the word 'paper' following them i.e toilet paper, newspaper, wrapping paper.

OK i think you should have the idea now, there are lots of variations not just words sharing a single letter to choose from. My first one should not be too difficult to get us all going.

Its in niece but not in nephew
its in friend but not in ally
its in pieces but not broken

Forum Games / The Forum Poem
« on: October 02, 2005, 01:41:17 pm »
Ok folks lets try a little literary game here.

The poem will consist of 4 line verses with the last words of each second line ryhming i.e.

Mary had a little lamb
Its fleice was white as SNOW
And everywhere that mary went
the lamb was sure to GO

Now the way the game will work is that i will start off the first 2 lines then the next to post will create their own rhyming lines, then start off the next verse with two lines e.g.

POST 1 (me) Mary had a little lamb
                   it had a wooden head

POST 2 (person a)  Instead of following mary
the lamb went to the pub instead

It bought a lot of whisky
and drank it by the gallon

POST 3 (person b)  It stagered outside to have a wee
                            then wandered into a salon

it got a manicure and a trim
to be with the latest fashion

etc etc and so on. The poem can form a story or just use your imaginations and we shall see where it leads. Just a few rules here please make sure that your last word can be ryhmed because that will just stop the entire thread. And no making up words just becasue you cant think of a ryhme for the previous post. And the same person can't post twice in a row. Apart from that the standard forum rules aply

ok then the start of The Great Forum Poem:

I was walking down a shaded lane
A tune whistling from my lips

Forum Games / Psychic posting game
« on: June 27, 2005, 01:59:11 pm »
The psychic posting game, is very easy, I will start with a prediction about the next person to post, then the next person either confirms or denies my prediction, giving any reasons or funny stories to back them up. Then they make a prediction and so on and so on.

This can get a bit weird when peoples imaginations begin to get the better of themselves but its all in good fun.

Please no insulting predictions, or anything that might upset other forum members, usual other forum rules apply.

Have Fun.

OK then a nice easy one to get us going.

The next person to post will have a part time job.

Spore: General / Creatures you DO want to see
« on: May 29, 2005, 10:21:20 am »
I am talking about creatures you would like to see recreated from the world of fact or fiction.

I know we will all have a go making our own unique creatures but im sure most of us will try our hand at making creatures we have seen in movies/comics/tv/games etc.

There is already a topic about ones we dont want to see so i thought which ones would you LIKE to see?

I am going to try to make ones like the Antlions in Half Life 2 or similar to the bugs from Starship Troopers, they are really cool, very fast with some limited flight capabilities and is good at fighting.

I have more ideas but what do you guys think? Any critters you think you would like to see or go up against to test your own creatures.

Spore: General / MUST READ UPDATED E3 SPORE INFO FROM GAMESPY
« on: May 21, 2005, 11:59:35 am »
I just finished reading GameSpy's new news of Spore from E3, lots of new stuff in it made my heart race to read some of it, somne stuff we already know but its still cool.

Flying creatures are confirmed
Underwater creatures confirmed - but if you build a colony on land it will be a bio-dome filled with water COOL
Stuff on skinning creatures, setting up a texturiser which you choose what your creature looks like e.g. fur, and the game maps it accurately to your creature
More stuff on how content is uploaded to other players games and that you can track how other players react to your creatures using a 'multiverse' news item
Mor detail on the creature editor and building/vehicle editor
Planets are all different from jungle type planets to extremely arid desert planets to ice planets to barren chunks of rock
And a cool thing that when you blow up a planet that the debris expands out spherically then the flaming remains form an asteroid type ring around the solar system

Anyway check it out the link is

Spore: General / Building construction
« on: May 08, 2005, 10:14:54 am »
I think the idea of being able to design your own buildings is really cool, im thinking of having sort of very open spaced architecture, sort of greek with lots of collumns and archways.

What types of buildings will you guys be designing?

Also a question to anybody who might be able to answer it. How do we purchase buildings? Will there be resource management like collect X amount of wood, iron, stone etc. Or will we have to do things as a community to earn civilization points to get the next building technology? Also I know there are default buildings such as the town centre building fire pits and spear rack but when we are designing the buildings are we designing a pre-set type of building, e.g i have just reached a level where i can build tanks so i need a factory to produce them, then whatever building i design will then be used as a tank factory? And if this follows on to other buildings will it work for housing, universities, hospitals, farms, industry, etc etc.

Dont know if any of this is available as info just now or if we will just have to wait and let our imaginations run wild until we know better!! ;D

Spore: General / How many roads must a bacteria walk down........
« on: May 08, 2005, 10:07:05 am »
......before you can call him a Galactic God?

I know a lot of the detail is still hazy regarding some points of the game, im sure at E3 more will be cleared up, but do we yet know how many evolutions or generations it takes to get between each stage i.e. From bacteria up to 3D water swimming creature up to land creature to sentience etc.

Dont know if anybody has any idea what will be happening just a thought, i have another query which i think i will do as a seperate post but again it may be answered at E3 or in the run up to the actual launch.
