PC Games / Bloodmoon help
« on: April 15, 2005, 08:19:21 pm »
I am a great fan of TES series, but I'm stuck on a TES III: Bloodmoon quest. I have been searching the entire island of Vvardenfell for at least a month (game time) and I have found only one of the five Bittergreen Petals that I need to kill that stupid tree in Raven Rock. It would be insanely appreciated if anyone could let me know where I could find more. The one that I found was in the alchemist in Ald'ruhn's posession.

Everything Else / Weather

It's APRIL and there's snow on the ground. It's just not right! Usually we have fairly decent weather here in Western PA, but apparantly we're not going to today. Anyone else experiencing unseasonal weather?

Console Games / What Kind of Games Do You Play?
« on: April 03, 2005, 01:18:14 pm »
Which of these game genres do you play? This is only games you play the most often. I'll use myself as an example. I like FPS's, but I rarely play them. Therefore, I would not select "Shooters."

Also, you may notice that I stole this list from Nintendo Power, but I don't really care.

PC Games / The Perfect Game
« on: April 01, 2005, 01:25:13 pm »
I think that for everyone there is at least one game that can be described by them as nothing other than "perfect." If you have found that game, what is it and why do you like it? If you have not, what do you think it will be like?

As for myself, I reallly think that The Elder Scrolls series is rapidly approaching what I would call perfection. Oblivion (TES IV) looks pretty damn good, but the truly perfect TES game is probably yet to come. One thing that would make The Elder Scrolls series better, im my opinion, as all of this is, is some technological advancement from game to game. Oblivion looks as though it will take place in the same technological era as Arena (TES I) did, while hundreds of years have passed since then. I would also like a better combat system than the completely horrid one in TES III. (It worked, there was just some weird move-while-pulling-your-sword/axe/whatever-back system that absolutely no one I know of knew what to do with.)

Just thought that this would be an interesting topic.

Portable Games / Advance Wars DS
« on: March 31, 2005, 05:20:35 pm »
This game looks really good. I got really excited for a second when I saw "June 23", but then I saw "in Japan" after it. I can't believe we have to wait until October 9, but it looks well worth the wait.

Console Games / Revolution
« on: March 20, 2005, 01:31:48 pm »
No, I'm not talking about Nintendo's next console. Instead I am referring to something that will more likely be a revolution.

Final Fantasy XII

Yes. It seems almost impossible to believe that the game's April 14th release date is a mere 25 days away. But it is.

Portable Games / Idea

I just got a really good idea. Nintendo, if you have any people checking tis site tell them to read this.

Allright. My idea is: Mario Party DS

Edit: I might even be able to get my mom to play that one.

Spore: General / Evolution

I wonder if there will be any evolution through natural selection. This would not be player controlled, so I doubt it but it is possible.

Steve, you are the Rush Limbaugh of the video game industry. (If you aren't, you will be soon.) I have even gone through the trouble of figuring out how to get all of your Podcasts to appear on my iTunes library. Keep up the excellent work.

Anyone remember this?

Constitutional Peasants

Arthur:   Old woman!
Dennis:   Man!
Arthur:   Man. Sorry. What knight lives in that castle over there?
Dennis:   I’m thirty-seven.
Arthur:   What?
Dennis:   I’m thirty-seven… I’m not old.
Arthur:   Well I can’t just call you “Man”.
Dennis:   Well you could say “Dennis”.
Arthur:   I didn’t know you were called Dennis.
Dennis:   You didn’t bother to find out, did you?
Arthur:   I did say sorry about the old woman, but from the behind you looked…
Dennis:   What I object to is that you automatically treat me like an inferior…
Arthur:   Well… I am King.
Dennis:   Oh, King, eh? Very nice. And how d’you get that eh? By exploiting the workers! By hanging on to outdated imperialist dogma which perpetuates the economic and social differences in our society! If there’s ever going to be any progress…
(An old woman appears)
Old Woman:   Dennis! There’s some lovely filth down here… Oh! How d’you do?
Arthur:   How d’you do, good lady… I am Arthur, King of the Britons… Whose castle is that?
Old Woman:   King of the who?
Arthur:   The Britons.
Old Woman:   Who are the Britons?
Arthur:   We all are… we’re all Britons. And I am your King…
Old Woman:   Didn’t know we had a King. I thought we were an autonomous collective…
Dennis:   You’re fooling yourself. We’re living in a dictatorship, a self-perpetuating autocracy in which the working classes…
Old Woman:   Oh, there you go bringing class into it again…
Dennis:   That’s what it’s all about… If only people would…
Arthur:   Please, please good people. I am in haste. Who lives in that castle?
Old Woman:   No one lives there.
Arthur:             Then, who is your lord?
Old Woman:   We don’t have a lord.
Arthur:   What?
Dennis:   I told you, we’re an anarcho-syndicalist commune. We take it in turns to act as a sort of executive officer for the week.
Arthur:   Yes.
Dennis:   But all the decisions of that officer have to be ratified at a special bi-weekly meeting…
Arthur:   Yes, I see.
Dennis:   …by a simple majority in the case of purely internal affairs…
Arthur:   Be quiet!
Dennis:   …but a two-thirds majority in the case of a more major…
Arthur:   Be quiet! I order you to be quiet.
Old Woman:   Order, eh. Who does he think he is?
Arthur:   I am your King!
Old Woman:   Well, I didn’t vote for you.
Arthur:   You don’t vote for Kings.
Old Woman:   Well, how did you become King, then?
Arthur:   The Lady of the Lake, her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite, held aloft Excalibur from the bosom of the water, signifying by Divine Providence that I, Arthur, was to carry Excalibur… That is why I’m your King!
Dennis:   Listen, strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.
Arthur:   Be quiet!
Dennis:   You can’t expect to wield supreme executive power just because some watery tart threw a sword at you!
Arthur:   Shut up!
Dennis:   I mean, if I went around saying I was an emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they’d put me away!
Arthur:   (grabbing him by the collar) Shut up, will you? Shut up!
Dennis:   Ah! Now we see the violence inherent in the system.
Arthur:   Shut up!
Dennis:   (calling) Ooh… Come and see the violence inherent in the system. Help, help, I’m being repressed!
Arthur:    Bloody peasant!
Dennis:   Oh, what a give-away. Did you hear that, eh? That’s what I’m on about. Did you see him repressing me? You saw it, didn’t you?

Spore: General / Your Species
« on: March 19, 2005, 12:22:38 pm »
Does anyone have any thoughts on what their species will look like, how they'll behave, their architecture, etc?

I was thinking of creating something that looked like the aliens described in the sci-fi classic, War of the Worlds although someone else will likely beat me to it. If not, I'll probably create something like... um.... Let me get back to you on that one.

Does anyone else here watch Stargate SG-1? If so, what did you think about last night's episode?

Everything Else / Contest
« on: March 17, 2005, 06:02:47 pm »
Here's a trivia question with a really cool prize for the first correct answer:

A man claims to have been abducted by aliens. He says they took him to the moon and showed him their various buildings there. All of the buildings were standing by themselves and there was no "air bubble" so they had to wear suits with the same purpose as NASA's space suits. The man said that he then heard a large explosion that was explained by the aliens as the destruction of an older building in order to make space for a new one.

What is wrong with this story? The first person to correctly answer will receive a prize that is somehow related to the answer.

Portable Games / Nintendo DS
« on: March 17, 2005, 05:43:39 pm »
Nintendo has always been one for innovation, and they are really raising the bar with the DS. Who cares if it doesn't have the best graphics in the world? (I meant that rhetorically.) There are soooooo many cool-looking games for the DS. Problem is, however, none of them are out yet. Advance Wars DS, Animal Crossing DS, (come on, you can't just go around shooting stuff all day) Lost in Blue, Metroid Prime: Hunters, and, of course, the one game that Americans have been dying for for what has been at least a decade and a half--- Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you: FINAL FANTASY III!!! I cannot wait until that is finally released outside of Japan.
