Spore: General / Gamingsteve Members Should Make Sporecasts
« on: September 15, 2008, 07:25:10 am »
I don't know about the rest of you but I would like an easier way of getting GS members content on my game. Right now my best option is to try and make you all buddies, the problem with that is quite a bit of the GS member stuff I've seen hasn't been finished yet so I'll end up getting unfinished stuff in my game.

Everyone should make a sporecast of their best and/or their favorite creatures for people to subscribe to, this will eliminate unfinished creations and make sure I see your stuff in game. :)

When you make your sporecast make sure it has gamingsteve in the title as I've noticed that the tags on sporecast don't seem to work, my title is just my name followed by gamingsteve. ;)

EDIT: Gorman Conall is making an index of sporecasts, if you have one go here and follow his instrutions to get it added to the index.

Spore: General / Spore Stop Motion Animation
« on: July 30, 2008, 07:23:02 am »
Like a lot of you I've been finding things to occupy my time until spore come out and this is what I've come up with, a stop motion animation using images from spore.

It's a little ruff around the edges but it is my first time making a stop motion film ;).

Spore: General / Can someone do me a favour?
« on: July 11, 2008, 05:40:34 am »
I want to get the highest quality picture of this creature that I can and unfortunately my PC can't run the CC at it's best :(, I was hoping one of you guys could do it for me. Heres the creature and the image i want.

The closer you can get it to this image the better, thanks for any help :D.

Spore: General / CHALLENGE: How many legs can you fit on a creature?
« on: June 18, 2008, 01:27:18 pm »
How many legs can you guys fit on one creature?
My record so far is 20 but that meant that none of the legs had a knee joint so the creature looked kind of crappy :(.
18 is the most I can get with each leg having at least one knee joint. I challenge you to beat my record of 18.

The rules are this:

1. Each leg must have at least 1 knee joint.
2. The leg must start at the body and end with a foot to qualify as a leg.
3. The creature must have at least one eye and a mouth.
4. The creature must be able to walk without any animation glitches.

Upload your creature then post a link to it so we can test your multi-limbed monstrosity :D.

You can see my 18 and 20 leg creature on my sporepedia page.

I am unsure :-\ where to post this so I apologise if this is the wrong board for this topic.

Thought I'd take a break from my stop motion project and make a few creatures, I haven't made some in a while.

Creatures names in order:

Stratoy, Warferold, Jeedit, Vemervex, Miblet, Probatron

Grubleth - This guys not new but he is one of my favorites

If you want to rate, comment or get a better look at my creatures you can find a link to my sporepedia page in my sig. Constructive criticism is welcome and if you comment I'll return the favour.

Spore: General / Questions about Spore & SecuROM
« on: June 10, 2008, 09:39:26 am »
I've been reading a lot of stuff about SecuROM recently (mainly from the Gamespot/GameFAQ spore forum) and it has me a little concerned. I know we are all hyped for the creature creator round these part (got mine pre-ordered ;D) but I hoped you guys could answer a few of questions for me.
What's the deal with SecuROM and is the version shipping with Spore likely to cause harm to my computer?

Is there any way to remove SecuROM, if it is harmful and still play Spore?

Lastly, I've read a few thing saying that you can only install Spore a limited number of times. If I format my PC and reinstall spore several times, am I eventually going to be restricted from playing the game?

I'm not that up to date with the latest Spore news so forgive me if this is common knowledge. I maybe worrying about nothing but it can't hurt to ask :). Cheers for any replies.

Spore: General / Design Locking
« on: August 17, 2007, 03:39:46 pm »
I was wondering how they will handle design theft in spore. In Forza 2 you can lock your paint designs so people can buy them but not alter or steal them, do you think spore will implement a similar system?
For me, there will be few things more annoying then spending ages creating a great creature/vehicle/building only to find someone who has altered it slightly trying to pass it of as their unique creation. >:(
What do you guys think?

Console Games / B.C. for Xbox 360?
« on: May 12, 2006, 08:14:45 am »
It's been a while since I heard anything about BC but I was on gamefaq and a guy posted this info:

From: Lionhead
Out: 2007
What we know: We asked Peter Molyneux to his face if this Flintstones-'em-up is back on after being 'suspended' last October - and he just couldn't say no. This will be a standout (and likely exclusive) 360 game: you in the shoes of an early human tribe, punching dinosaurs and fending off creatures trying to knock **** Sapiens off the evolutionary tree. Ambitiously, every rock, tree and flaming stick will be interactive - and LIVE support is a cert.
See 360's power in... Groundbreakingly realistic fire that engulfs man, meat, tree and T-Rex.

Here is the original post on IGN:

I know Molyneux has a tendency to disappoint but it can't hurt to be optimistic.

Everything Else / Brussel Sprouts

Cruncy, mushy, steamed, boiled.
It's all good.† ;D

Spore: General / Difficulty Settings?
« on: February 06, 2006, 05:19:50 am »
I know the game is supposed to add creatures so that youíre never top or bottom of the food chain but if they do decide to add difficulty settings how will they affect the game?

They could alter creatures to be more aggressive on higher difficulty setting and more passive on lower settings.
That would mean the creatures aren't acting the way the original creator intended them to act so I doubt that will be used.

Maybe they will adjust the kind of creatures you face depending on the difficulty you chose. So if you play on easy, the creatures you come across are more likely to be harmless or prey for your creature. Where as if you play on hard the creatures you encounter are more likely to be predators that will hunt you.

Or perhaps difficulty settings will just affect how easy or hard it is to get points to modify your creature.

I only ask this because Iíd like to play my game with lots of predators hunting me; it would make my success that much sweeter.† ;D

PC Games / Desperados 2: Cooper's Revenge
« on: January 06, 2006, 08:13:31 am »
After how disappointing Gun was, I was happy to hear that this was in development.
The original Desperados was great fun and if this is anything like that then I'll shall be a happy bunny. ;D

Anyone else a fan of the original or/and looking forward to this?

PC Games / What Was Your First Online Gaming Experience?
« on: December 21, 2005, 12:00:25 pm »
My first was trying to play Alien vs Predator.
I got one game against one opponent and it was as laggy as hell. >:(

The game that really got me into online gaming was Medal of Honour Allied Assault.
Even with a 56k it was fun. ;D

Console Games / GUN out next week, where's all the fuss
« on: November 04, 2005, 10:06:41 am »
I know there has been very little coverage of gun as far as I'm aware but I can't believe that I'm the only one psyched for this game. ???
I'm sure there will be more coverage once it's released and all of you unaware of it will have a nice suprise(that's if it's any good).

I was also wondering how many of you are going to hold out for xbox 360 version?
I was going to wait to get it for the 360 in December but I can't stand waiting, so I guess I'll get it for xbox try it for 10 days then return it and get the 360 version a little later.† ;)

Spore: General / What Happened to the Spore Video??

Spore: General / Creatures You Don't Want To See
« on: May 23, 2005, 09:46:00 am »
I thought Iíd make a list of creatures I expect people to make but I don't want to see. I'm talking about creatures that look like famous characters or people E.g. a creature that looks exactly like a Teletubbie or Big Bird from Sesame Street.
Image coming across a planet filled with Homer Simpsons, yes it would be funny at first but after finding variations on that character all over the galaxy you're going to start getting sick.
Thankfully we can just nuke creatures we donít like but for me, just knowing thereís a planet filled with Barney the purple dinosaur would make me want to vomit.
Hopefully we get to choose which creatures we download but just in case we donít, I write this list to try to dissuade people from making these characters although it will probably just give you ideas.
Letís get started.

Any Sesame Street character
Any Simpson character (maybe not the aliens)
Barney that sickening dinosaur and all his annoying chums >:(
Any Disney Character

??? Canít think of any more at the moment but I will.

Sorry if there are characters covered in the list that wouldnít be a bad addition to the spore universe.
Itís just I couldnít be bothered to be more specific on the list (although I could be bothered to create this topic)
Also I couldnít be bothered to check if there where any topics like this so I apologise if there are.

Feel free to add to the list or if you want, highlight any characters that would or wouldnít fit in the game that are included in the list.

Also feel free to flame me for making no sense, using bad grammar and punctuation or for whatever other reason. Itís the only way Iíll learn. ;D
