Gamespot Review: http://www.gamespot.com/ds/action/sekaikinomeikyuu/review.html?sid=6171652

I was really reluctant to pick up this game. I hadn't heard about it until the reviews started showing up, and it sounded interesting right away. I did some more research, and I was a little worried that everyone compared it to games I have never played before, but it's just awesome. I've sunk a LOT of time into it, and I'm going pretty slowly.

Did anyone else notice this one? It almost flew under the radar completely for me.

Spore: General / Greetings from The Outside...
« on: March 13, 2007, 05:01:43 pm »
Uh...so this is what it's like in here, eh? All these topics about Spore...

So I don't know if you noticed, but there's a little slice of these forums over in the PC Gaming section. You know, the section where we discuss other PC Games? I don't know if you've seen it or not. But some of us got to talking, and some of you folks posted in that thread because you're attracted to Spore discussion like moths to a flame, and we all decided that maybe there should be some..."mingling"...between the two camps.

You know, the ones here for Spore, and the ones here for the podcast. This is my fifth post in these forums, and the first in several months. I bet most of you had no idea I existed until now, and I could say the same for you. And that's not cool, because we're all on the same forums. It's like a country with separate governments...Kind of like Germany when it was split in half. You have one side that's really great, and another side that's all poopie and bland. I think if you folks just took a peek over that pesky wall, you'd do like them, and start tunneling out of here.

So how about some of you folks come on out from here, and go visit the other forum-goers like me, who saw Spore, crapped their pants in anticipation, then put it on the "Remember this when it's closer to release" shelf in their brains.   ...Okay, that might just be me, but the point still stands.

I saw this yesterday. It was fantastic! Will Ferrell does really well in a serious role. Has anyone else seen it?

Portable Games / Convince me to buy a DS.
« on: July 13, 2006, 07:37:52 pm »
I have some money tucked away that I'm a little weary of spending, but I'm kind of running out of things to do on the PC, and I'm running out of good 'Cube games. What's really happening is that I'm getting tired of the genres of games I'm playing, and I need something different. I think I might be able to find something like that on the DS.

But here's the thing: I'm not really sure I want to buy one. I've heard nothing but good things, but it's a good chunk of change I'd be spending. And I don't even know what I'd play! So I would like a few really good arguements as to why I should buy a DS, and why I should buy a Lite instead of the regular one. Also, some examples of great games (focusing on what gameplay is like) would be really great.

Thanks, guys!

First post, I've been lurking the Spore forums for ages, dabbled in this forum a bit, but I've been drawn into posterdom by Malak.

So, as you can see from the title, I'm requesting a spoiler. I want to know what happens at the end of KOTOR, light side, Bastila living and in love with me, all that jazz. I really need a good detailed version, if anyone can offer that. Why, you ask?

I can't beat Malak.

And I don't mean "I gave up on him because I just want to know the ending" kind of "can't beat," I mean the "Just tried for two hours straight but can't beat him because of fundamental problems with my character that cannot be fixed without starting from a saved game file from a few planets ago" kind of "can't beat." I have found no strategy to beat him beyond hit him until he's low, heal self while he does the same, rebuff, repeat. This can't work for me, though. My character was built as a support character. I lacked the foresight of a one-on-one fight with the final boss, so my character has little in the way of offensive force powers. He's a scoundrel/counsular. I intended him to be the one who repairs, who splices, and who removes the mines. All went extremely well. I had little trouble making it through the rest of the game.

However, now that I don't have my precious allies nearby, I am screwed. The fight goes something like this: I buff with Force Immunity and the third rank of speed boost (forgot the name), then attack him until I'm low on health. Then I use some health packs to get up to a reasonable level (usually takes several since he's dealing such extreme damage), and attack again. Only by sheer luck can I survive, and I tried saving again and again after every time I survived, but after using up all but my weak healthpacks, I am at a loss. I survived the fight with Bastila by stunning her, which ended the fight almost instantly (I relied on a speed-boosted stun combo throughout the star forge and the Rakatan planet). Malak seems immune to that one, however.

So what do I want? I want to know what happens after you kill Malak. The options you have (let him live, kill him?), what happens to the star forge and the republic fleet, what happens with the characters, and any hints at future events. I certainly plan on completing this game and slaying Malak, but I will not play as a light Jedi again (I have as many light points as I can, by the way). Next time it's a Sith badass who can hold is own...But I really must know the ending that I almost earned. I was so wrapped up in this story. I can't stand that I can't end it to see for myself, but there really is no way.

Please, would someone give me a detailed synopsis of the aftermath of Malak's death?

P.S. You know you've been playing too much KOTOR when, after re-reading your post, you think "If I help him kill the boss, I gain light side points. If I tell him the ending, I gain nothing. If I lie and tell him the wrong ending, then spoil the dark side ending as well, I gain dark side points. Deicisions."
