Console Games / Best xbox/xbox 360 games?

So... I finally broke down and bought an xbox 360 (local bestbuy offered a free copy of gears of war with purchase of a 360).

Now I need to find some more good games for it... Obviously I have already realized that halo 3, mass effect, gears of war, lost planet, assassin's creed, and bioshock are good games (I also have the new guitar hero on my Wii)...

So basically any opinions on good 360 games, or even the original xbox games (since it does have backwards compatibility..) would be appreciated, of course I also have a really nice PC, thus if an xbox game is better on a PC than on a console then don't mention it (oblivion for example).

Personally I think the game looks amazing, 3 unique factions, interesting new game mechanics, and good game balance (according to testers and developers as well as those who played it at e3)
And best of all the open beta for the game starts next week.

Also does anyone know what cellular automata program Will was using (under the chapter of generative system examples I think...)?

PC Games / Blizzard Announces Starcraft II

I'm sure many of u have heard this already, but anyone have any idea on what this may be? Personally I'm hoping for starcraft 2 but I'm betting its another WoW expansion.

Everything Else / Anyone know how to make an animated screensaver?

I need to figure out how to make an animated screensaver, preferably 3d, and it has to work on a macintosh computer (yeah thats where i run into trouble...). Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Spore: General / Scaling of Cities?

A thought just occured to me...

say someone makes a mouse sized creature and evolves them up through to the ufo stage.

Now say another person makes an elephant size creature and does the same.

Now suppose these two civilizations meet.


Logically wouldn't the mouse sized creature make smaller cities and ufos than the elephant sized creature, thus allowing them to get more use out of the space on their planet? On the flip side, would the elephant sized creatures ships have large weapons or be less affected by the tiny mouse creatures weapons when attacking one of their cities? It might even end up that the elephant creature's ufo is almost as large as a mouse city....

Any thoughts on the way scaling will work in this game? From what i have seen of the many videos none of them address this issue....

I just found that there is a warcraft 3 mod in the works that will convert it to be a 3d version of starcraft

Spore: General / UFO Collision Damage (and possible minigames)

I've been thinking recently....

As we have seen in the various spore videos currently available the UFO has a health bar that will determine how much damage it takes, however we have not really seen what effects certain things (such as running into a building, or hitting another UFO) have on the damage bar.

I assume an event such as a supernova instantly destroys your UFO of course, but will colliding with things do more or less damage depending on their speed, mass, and/or what they are made up of?

Some things obviously have to do more damage then others (like hitting an asteroid must do more then running into a creature that someone just "happened" to throw into orbit) but what will this be.

Looking at the videos collision damage is not visible, yes I know Will never ran into anything with the UFO, but if you look at the strike from the ice comet on an enemy city it seems that the comet may not have done much damage on impact, but instead only flooded the area.

Now for the minigames, should collision damage be included...

I really like the idea of flying through an asteroid field, expecially if another UFO is chasing you...

A use for putting creatures into orbit??? Lets say I manage to place various creatures in orbit around my entire planet (assuming I magically finished this process in less then 10 years...) would the collision damage from the UFO hitting these creatures on entrance to my planet (along with any possible effects of the atmosphere) be enough to weaken, or even destroy a UFO?


Hopefully collision damage will be worked out interestingly as i would hate to have my UFO crash into a planet or a large asteroid and "miraculously" survive. Of course in this line of thought I am assuming that if you lose your UFO you can make another (without having to lose all of your cities on other planets and returning to the civ stage)
