Spore: Creation Corner / Orginal Design Ideas
« on: April 07, 2006, 04:13:42 pm »
I need help with designing an orginal creature. As you may have noticed all of the creatures I have designed so far (The Sa'rir and The Orbion) are far from the most orginal idea in the world. What I want to know is how have you (this is directed towards Hydo' and Hugg' mostly) managed to come up with such intresting and orginal creatures while still maintaining a sense of orginality? What was the process of creating such a spectacle? What helped you along the way? Where did you look for inspiration?

One other thing I'd like to ask: What is an intresting, and currently unentered, enviroment for my creature to live in?

Spore: Creation Corner / The Orbion - New Creature

The Orbion is a peaceful and timid hexapod omnivore. As well as the large eye on the front of their body they also have three extra optical orbs positioned on the end of three free standing tentacles. These added appendages allow the Orbion an full 360 degree view of their surronding. One eye always looks forward, one eye always looks backwards, one eye always looks up and another eye always looks down.

A hand like grasping appendege is located on the end of their elongated tongue. This is used from stripping the leaves from the Tomo plant, the Orbions' main food substance. The Orbions have no teeth. Instead once the leaves have been brought back to the mouth two glands located as the top of the orofice submerge the leaves in a acidic substance which breaks down the leaves for easy digestion.

Spore: Creation Corner / The Sa'rir

Inculta Lupus

The Sa'rir is a race of sentient, wolf-like creatures from the desert planet of Orre (pronnounced: Or-Ray). They are bipedal though can use their arms as legs, becoming quadpedal, and increasing speed. Their skin is covered in a fine layer of fur which protects them from the fierce Orre sand storms which torment the land.

That's all I have so far. Expect more soon. I would just like some feedback on my basic idea so far please! :)

Spore: Roleplaying and Story Games / Evoultion - The Game
« on: April 04, 2006, 04:58:55 pm »
As we all know evoultion is not limited by our imgination's alone. Enviroment, food and culture (amongst other things) will all be key variables that we must take note of while playing Spore. It will be our job to channel the course of evoultion and make sure our creature ends up on top of the food chain.

This game, in a nut-shell, is a dumb-downed version of Spore. We will be taking a single celled ameboa (hand drawn, not computer animated) from it's early stages in the primordial ooze into a brave new world and beyond.

The evoultionary path of our creature will be determined by the following: Player A posts a picture of a creature (me in this case) he/she then states a dilema/perdicument/problem that it has to overcome via evoultion. Player B then draws a picture of the evolved creature along with a brief explanation of it's evolved status. He/she then puts forward another dilema/perdicument/problem for the creature. The next person then does the same, and so on and so on.

I'll start with my mediocre drawing of a single celled amobea:

The Creature:

The Dilema:

It seems as though another creature is stealing all of our creature's food before it can get to it. Our creature needs a way to get more food so hat it can survive.

Ready? Go!
