Music / You Decide: Greatest Solo of All Time
« on: March 07, 2008, 05:22:30 pm »
well anyway ive seen this done before in some other forum. whats gonna happen is that everybody nominates UP TO 5 of their favorite solos until there are 64 solos. then the nominated solos will be put randomly into a ladder. every 3 days there will be a vote between 2 competed solos to move on to the next round. this continues until there are only 2 solos left and then the greatest solo of all time will be decided.

the solos can by any instrument (not vocal solos) and can be from any type of music. the solo can last anywhere from 3 seconds to 20 mins. if a song has more than 1 solo (november rain) you have to pick which one (1st 2nd...6th).

if this fails, oh well, wasnt expecting much with topics such as "Nirvana" and "Greenday"  ;)

my nominees are
Dread and The Fugitive Mind - Megadeth (Al Pitrelli, Dave Mustaine)
Achilles Last Stand - Led Zeppelin (Jimmy Page)
Rock Bottom - UFO (Michael Schenker)
Maggot Brain - Funkadelic (.. Hazel?)
Tornado of Souls - Megadeth (Marty Friedman)

Spore: General / Spore in PC Gamer
« on: May 02, 2006, 04:33:55 pm »
first off, i just wanted to welcome myself to the forums at GamingSteve which I visit everyday cus its kickass

in the June 2006 issue of PC Gamer Spore is mention twice and briefly, but gave a clue they will have more info about it in an upcoming issue. The first article in the "EyeWitness" section in page 20 (for those who have the issue)  . This is what it said: (sry i couldnt scan cus my scanner aint workin)

note that most of this is old info, but I though it was a good read since we havent gotten info in like 3 months

Will Wright: PC Philosopher, Gaming God

"Attending a GDC keynote speech is like entering a revival tent and seating yourself among the quivering faithful, and listening to The Sims creator Will Wright speak is as religious experience as you're likely to have on a hot afternoon in the San Jose Civic Auditorium. As always, Wright's unfathomably intelligent brain provided fodder for any gamer looking to justify their hobby; this time, the topics were astrobiology, research, and how the two have influenced Wright's work on the development of Spore [yay!], his much anticipated next PC title (see more about Spore in our "E3 Road Trip" feature, page 29) [DOUBLE YAY!!!]. Though he treated the audience to no new Spore assets, Wright did provide insight into how the game came about, ranging from his decades-long interest in the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey and its depiction of AI that "feels," to his research on the Drake equation, which allows the quantification of factors determining the possible number of alien civilizations in this or other galaxies. Amen"

sure its old news but i didnt really care about this article, the "See more about Spore in page 29" was what i was interested in.

so i turn to pg 29 for the E3 Road Trip feature article...but I dont see any Spore :-\
go through the pages with games that will be in e3 like Battlefield 2142...ET Quake Wars..but NO Spore :o

on the last page of the E3 article (38) theres a little box that starts out:

"End of the Road. A security guard escorts (well pushes) you out of the LA Convention Center. It's been a long day, and you didn't get to see every game, but at least you've seen the highlights. Hey, isn't that Will Wright? He was supposed to tell you all about Spore! Crap. Check back in the August issue for our post-E3 wrap up!"

next time PC Gamer does this to me...I will cancel my subscription :'(

PS: this may be old news, it may not. it may also be useless and may be boring. Either way...plz dont flame me... :P
