To the OP you cannot make broad statements that have no evidence and are usually wild misconceptions and not expect to be argued with. On the topic I always thought you were the god in spore so to speak.

Religion on the internet in any shape or form disgusts me. They all should be giving away there possesions and helping the starving africans.

And you shouldn't? lol, hypocrisy.

I might buy this game, if the reviews are good. Seems like an interesting angle on a strategy game

How is it hypocritical?

Spore: General / Re: Piracy and Spore

Honestly I see CD-keys, CD copy protections as things that hurt the people that buy the game. Has copy protection every stopped the game being cracked and uploaded? No. Has CD-keys stopped piracy? No.

Now I see the point for a CD key being in spore because of the whole online side. But the fact remains any sort of the protection put onto a game will be broken by the professional pirates. It is the honest people at home who have spent there money and try to make a backup copy that are put into frustration, and people who lose there CD keys. As shown with TES4:Oblivion which sold 1.7 million copies what like 2 weeks after launch? The game has no CD key and copy protection. That to me shows if the game is good people are willing to reward with there money. Billiondollar corporations who bitch about the money they lose to piracy is pathetic because people who use the pirated product wouldve never bought it in the first place.

There is no god or any gods. Once you die you rot. For uneducated people religion is the answer to how the world works. For educated people religion is a psychological crutch to lessen the fear of death and to help them through those difficult parts of like. It's amazing the bull**** people can concoct to make themselves feel comfortable.

Thanks very much.

PC Games / Re: The Decline of Video Games
« on: June 26, 2006, 11:11:30 pm »
I've thought a lot about the topic and I don't think we will ever see the decline of video games. Sure in the future they will take differnt forms as our technology evolves (eg when people when kids 40 years from now look at a NES or PSX and go "wtf is that"). But interactivement entertainment is only going forward. It's important to realize that success breeds imitation, this is running rife with the games we see today because why should a game developer spend so much time on research, concept time when they can make another HL or Civ and make millions. But with that it means that once we have these indiana jones developers who see the chance at innovation and jump on it more innovative games have to follow to keep the market fresh. Most of us know there is so much room for inovation in games, a quick example is a modding forum where people in there basements can conjure up really inventful **** with the limited tools supplied.

I agree with the point people are making about the whole rush to photo realism it's going to be interesting to see how its implemented in games apart from your average FPS . But really having this technology in a 2d environment isn't all that exciting.

In closure, I think that we will never see a true decline of video gaming in general but for this decade and the next one is going to be a truly transitory period in how games will be presented in the future.

Exactly why there should and always be a big distance between developers and the greasy fanboi's. Get PR people to deal with the fanboi's.

There is no banning as such.  It's just rating a game R18+ that makes it illegal for retailers to sell it. You can get it from anywhere else though. I dont know where you got the idea that they ban movies its untrue.
