PC Games / Re: Starcraft windowed?

Usage instructions:
1)Copy msvcr70.dll and MSVCP70.DLL to your %WINDOWS%/system32 directory
2)Run DxWnd.exe, click <Run>, selecet your Starcraft.exe and off you go. You can also create a shortcut if you like.

Side note: while the games look much nicer non-stretched, the are much harder to play. No competitive Starcraft this way...

That all :)

Well, here you go  :)

well next gen gameplay allows you to think

and lastgen is *select units* *right click*

and if your army is large enough you win!

Just no. Starcraft as well as Warcraft 3 were, when played at a good level, far more demanding.

That said, wohoooo, Starcraft 2! Stuff looks awesome  ;D

Spore: General / Re: Moratorium on "Sentience"
« on: December 29, 2006, 08:54:23 am »
Well, so a lot of higher mammals are sapient. They can use cheat and deceit... they can fake loyalty... and lie. Or grovel because they know what's coming. It's simply irritating when you KNOW your dog did something, he's sucking up to you to smooth your reaction and you for the life of it can't find out.

Actually, dogs are the perfect example of very sapient beings  :)

That said, it is to my cognition that every feeling being is, to some extent sapient. Or let's say the jump from sentient to sapient has not happened in that being but it's dormant, constant evolution would bring this out.

"Do people think that various of the higher mammals could be considered sapient, or that having ascribed states such as "sapience" and "sentience" is more or less useful than some linear measure of intelligence?"

I don't think this question can be fully answered. There is a certain point in sentience when conscience and the ability to self-reflect arise. But it's the same thing from which it stems, sapience is like a different level of the thing from which it and sentience arise. So the scale is useful to overview the whole spectrum while the differenciation is useful to... hmmmm.... indicate which beings have gained self-reflection beyond the merely physical reaction.

See ya  :)

Portable Games / Yggdra Union on the GBA
« on: December 17, 2006, 01:33:33 pm »
Well, I recently purchased Yggdra Union for the GBA and have to say, fantastic little game.

Graphically a real treat, strategically deep, this game has it all. The story seems pretty much a standard faire and, well, from all reports stays it. Doesn't matter, extremely well executed and also good replayability thanks to the ability to FAST forward any dialogue and story to get down to the game.

Get a short review here:

Advance Wars rules the purist strategy, this game rules RPG one. If you like deep strategy games, you owe yourself to own this one  :)

Well, PSX games on PSP would seriously rock... since they would be precise ports unlike PS2 stuff. But needing a PS3 for that?? Naw  :-[

DS currently simply has the far superior software library... while on PSP I'd think of... 4 games or so. And three of them are ports.

PC Games / Re: Crysis vs Real Life
« on: October 23, 2006, 10:33:12 am »
I want some real screenshots, not that small JPEG'd crap. Most current games would look that good with that small size.

Well, I agree on the small size argument. Those things are SMALL jpegs and have somehwat artefacting. Blow em up, use png and THEN you can really compare.
I'm not saying Crysis doesn't look better than any other engine I've ever seen but... vs reality? Still some way to go. The direction is the right one, though.  :)
