I don't think he meant it could destroy, I think that what he said was that if you use the Genesis device, it would create a new atmosphere that would not be suitable for the creatures that are already in the planet.

Exactly. Basically you kill all life already on a planet to make room for your lifeforms.

SPOCK   It literally is Genesis.
KIRK   The power of creation -
BONES   But dear Lord, do you think we're intelligent enough to - Suppose, what if this thing were used where life already exists?
SPOCK   It would destroy such life in favor of it's new matrix -
BONES   It's new - Do you any idea what you're saying?
SPOCK   I was not attempting to evaluate its moral implications, Doctor. As a matter of cosmic history, it has always been easier to destroy than to create -
BONES   Not anymore! Now we can do both at the same time! According to myth, the earth was created in six days. Now watch out: here comes Genesis; we'll do it for you in six minutes -

Also, Steve do you have anything on...

The Wii Boxing gloves?
Mike Tyson Punch-out on Wii?
The Wii lightgun (nostalgia!)?
WOW: Burning Crusade?
Age of Conan?

Thanks!

PS I'm the guy that did the show segment times from episodes 18 - 21 :)

Fair enough. From here on out I'll try to stay current with the forum and try to use the search tool before posting things I believe may be new.

That's ultimately the problem with these kinds of fanboi forums.

Oh and yeah I agree about the animated gif thing. I removed it from my sig. But I have to say Mr. Wizard I find your demand a bit hypocritical...

If you never seen the video then it's new. If your issue is that I misquoted the year of the GDC then my mistake. I was very excited by what I saw and wanted to share it with all of you. Isn't THIS pretty much the essence of the SPORE community?

Spore: General / Will Wright's AWESOME GDC'05 SPORE demo video

**Note this video is from the 2005 GDC presentation**

Fantastic video of Will Wright's presentation at February's Game Developer Conference and an indepth demo of SPORE. More to the point the latest game trailer takes what Will did in his demo almost verbatim.

Enjoy!

Spore: General / AI-driven PC content in space?
« on: May 11, 2006, 12:11:14 pm »
Besides the planet based player content are there plans to expand this to space driven player content? No doubt there is going to be hundreds of players who reach the space phase. This would be cool because the game could morph in a kind of Elite or Star Command model. :D

Blizzard Entertainment, the maker of World of Warcraft, has created a controversial program that detects cheaters by scanning the processes that are running at the time the game is played. Called the Warden, the anti-cheating program cannot detect any files that are hidden with Sony BMG's content protection, which only requires that the hacker add the prefix "$sys$" to file names.

Yay! :D
