Spore: General / Re: Extortion and warmongering is fun!
« on: September 13, 2008, 01:45:50 am »
Personally, I did missions for every empire near me, at start, when they were in the "Green happy area" I started t3-colonizing my own star system and star systems near me. When I had enough self-trade capability, I broke the alliance and wiped them. That's what I do - every spode jurks are being wiped, EVEN if they don't do anything to me. This is just my agenda. If I encounter warmongers, I go lunatic on them.
and it truly doesn't take that much time guys, I can wipe 2 complete 10 star-system each empires in about 15 minutes...
Just bomb their cities with mega bomb or anti-matter bombs, as you will get endless dough from your colonies.

Spore: General / Re: What do you think happened to Spore?

They could keep the graphics, and it's very realistic. GPU's today can certainly hold Spore in a better graphical engine. Planets are populated, but they aren't extremely populated. I mean, look at SupCom and WiC and you will have a good idea of that GPU's can do today. There's no excuse to what they did. I truly believe they dropped the content to it can fit into future expansion packs to earn some more $$$.

Spore: General / What do you think happened to Spore?

I will be honest. I've heared about spore only about 2 years ago. Even though it was years in development, I haven't given the project the attention I did in a later time.
Anyway, and I know that most of you will get pissed at me...   ;D I've recently got a link to the Spore 2005 demonstration.
I was absolutely shocked.. The game was way better - graphically, and in terms of depth - gameplay and mechanics. It looks like Spore has been cut down, to a level in which it will fit the "Casual Player", who eventually makes the company's pocket richer then comparing to us, hardcore gamers.
What worries me the most, is that I believe, firmly believe - based on common sense and past experience with Sim dev dep. in EA that all that content was cut so Expansion packs will be filled with it.

Don't get me wrong - I truly believe that gaming, despite being the best thing for us - is still a business and the companies need to make the money for their hard work. But - this isn't the case of "The Sims", in which Content was added. In this case, Content was dropped in order TO BE added and that is a whole different story...

What do you guys think?

Spore: General / Re: If you Terraform a Grox planet, will they re-settle it?
« on: September 12, 2008, 02:21:12 pm »
Thanks to everyone that replied. Carrying plants is sure a very good option. I do have enough cash to planet bust them, but planet busting their ENTIER empire seems too expensive even if you have tens of millions of sporebucks (which I have).

I'll give it a go. Thanks.

Spore: General / If you Terraform a Grox planet, will they re-settle it?
« on: September 12, 2008, 08:46:53 am »
I think that the best way to fight the grox is simply terraforming their systems, but, does someone knows if they resettle the planet after you leave it, if I do not colonize it?
I'm asking, simply because settling each star is unreasonable. They will not reverse the Terraforming procedure, right?

Well, the problem is - that rushing to the center of the galaxy doesn't necessarily means that this will be Spore's "end". I believe that the Grox must be faced.
I mean, look at this situation:
1. The manual clearly says that the Grox "Do not understand releationships".
2. They control about half of the galaxy.
3. They cannot be TRULY allied, as they shoot their "allies".
4. They are outnumbering and guarding the way to the center of the galaxy.

I think that Maxis and EA did mean us to go head to head with them, at least to keep us occupied untill they release all the content in the 2005 Spore version... Woohoo... Expansion packs - here I come.

I blitzed the center of the galaxy and succeeded with drive 4.  Funny thing is I got drive 5 like 10 star visits after that.

It would literally take months of solid play to eliminate the Grox.  They own so much of the galaxy, I couldn't imaging the tediousness of eliminating them all.

Apperently the end of the game is to eliminate them... This is insane. They are all over the place, this can take seriously, months of hardcore gameplay. Well, EA did say that "Only hardcore players will be able to finish spore".

Making the Grox surrender will trigger end game, I believe.

Well, I believe that the Grox really can't be allied. Technically, they can be allied, some players have done it. I haven't yet heard of a player that allied the Grox who haven't been attacked.
This being me down to one conclusion - There can only be war with the Grox.

Here's what I'm doing right now:
1. Allying ONLY nice races that don't attack others (as close as possible to my homeworld) and our relationships are easily maintained.
2. EXTERMINATING every "We don't trust strangers" race I encounter, as they will eventually want tribute, and will sniff war.
3. Clearing a route to the Grox near the center.
4. Making tens of millions of sporebucks.
5. Arming myself with the planet busters and bombs.
6. Engaging the Grox.

I know this will take lots of time, but it seems this is the way Maxis and EA wanted the game to be. There's something in the center of the universe, that can only be reached if we cut through the heart of the Grox. Seems to be the only way.

What do you guys think?

Allies are what got me in so much trouble with the Grox in the first place.
I was getting on fine with them, doing missions for them and everything, when suddenly one of my allied ships shot a Grox ship and now they're out to get me whenever I get anywhere near them.

When I say I'm a Shaman, that's the Philosophy of my species. It was awarded to me at the transition from Civ to Space.
You get a different philosophy depending on how you played the Cell, Creature, Tribe and Civ stages. See this thread for details.

Apperently I'm a Shaman as well. I have to ticket home, which is a nice thing..
I'm just so dissapointed that this is how space looks like. I mean, let's say we DID ally the Grox.
Now what? Game over?

Thanks for answering. I think you are right about the alliances. It's just not worth the effort, there's actually NO reason to expand in space stage, so it seems.
The uber turret MUST be a bug, I mean come on - why am I paying for a turret that only works while I'm on the planet? It should be fixed imo.

What do you mean by saying that "You are a shaman"? How can I warp back? Maybe I haven't seen this option? could you please pin-point me the location of this ability please?

Hey guys, after finding the Grox (you helped me here, and thanks a lot for that), It appears the Grox are MILES and MILES away from my home world.
When I go to attack them, I get:
1. Pirates stealing my spice (and somehow ruining half my cities, even though I've got Uber-turret on EACH planet and all my planets are T3 and got full turrets on them.)
2. Ecodisasters on my planers, even though they ALL got the bio protectors.
3. Allies that are being attacked can't be reached in time cause I'm so far away, that hurts our alliance.

What am I doing wrong guys? Please share any tips you have.

Thank you.  :)

Wow you guys are great! 4 replies in no time!
Thank you so much!

I will be sure to stick around, I greatly appreciate active and helpful community. I will look for them, Immortius thanks for the easy describing

I will do my own tryouts, and will share my thoughts here with you guys, looks like these guys are something else...

P.S - Online would be so PERFECT here. I wish EA will implement that in a future patch/expansion pack. Furthermore, is there a way to get stronger ships with me? My ship has 7500 HP and the best war gear, but my allies sucks. Any tip?

Thanks in advance once again. =]

Spore: General / Help finding the Grox
« on: September 10, 2008, 09:36:58 am »
Hey guys, I'm new in this forum, just googled it and looks like you guys know a lot.
Could someone please tell me how to find the Grox? I understand they are "in the center of the galaxy"... But I just can't pin-point that location, I'm clueless.
Can someone please tip me? I wanna go crazy on them, even though they are freaking many.... (Just seeing how many ships are invading my allies is enough..)

Any help will be well appreciated.

Thank you!
