What do you mean by don't work what happens when you try to run it from your desktop or wherever you usually run it from?


I did have a problem when I installed creepy and cute where my game crashed while loading but either a reboot fixed this or deleting the temp folder from the spore folder in my documents but I don't think either will be relevant to your problem.

Anyway I think a little more specifics on your part might help such as error codes your getting and your computer specs (though if you can run spore I doubt that's your problem)

Won't you have to connect to the internet every time you want to play? personally I think this could be a bad thing if EA thinks steam is more effective anti-piracy then they may start only doing releases that require it and I don't want to be forced to be on the internet when I play as I don't always have it.

I don't think the DRM really failed, after all what else can you do but stop people who illegally download it playing on the internet with it?

I also prefer it myself to other systems, for a start name a game that allows you to play it on more than one computer at the same time? The new games tend to just be starting to bring that in and I think it's a great idea.

Sporillium is mentioned in the Galactic Edition's handbook. It says that is powers the spaceships.

Does it actually say Sporillium? I do remember it saying Spice is used in many things e.g. powering the ships.

Also, be careful of comparing PC game sales to consoles. The PC market is much more wide open.

I know my only point really I wouldn't consider spore a 'flop' in any way.

Hang on; some people are saying it sold that much in three weeks, some are saying it sold that much in two months? Which is it?

Sorry my mistake should probably check things I read on the internet more carefully.

Just did a bit of hunting to try and put this into perspective:

Spore sold 2 million copies in three weeks.

Call of Duty 4 (Americas top selling video game for 3 months after its release) sold 1.57 million copies in one month on the Xbox and PS3

I don't know but there seems to be a bit of an advantage to spore there.

Still I doubt it has or will continue to sell as well as call of duty 4 did for those few months but I'm not sure it deserves to be on that list.

Also spore can in theory only get better  ;)

Hmmm I found the same thing as UFO King, I have the badge and am not using a mod, perhaps you have to have the trade route up to the point you can buy the planet and then cancel it, I think that's possibly what I did.

OK I've just checked your file again after extracting it and converting it to xml it still has the same errors as the first one,

here look this a line from near the top of the original:

<bool id="0x00000000">false</bool>

and another :

<float id="0x0000001F">0.2</float>

And then in yours those lines become:

<uint32s id="0x00000000" />

and:

<float id="0x0000001F">2</float>

I would guess this is what is causing the errors all the decimal points from the file have been removed along with some other random changes, I'm not sure what caused it but I'm fairly sure it's not my end because I haven't had any problems creating or re-converting my own files.

I use a program called notepad++ for viewing and altering the xml/txt files, lots of nifty little features that help programming you might want to give it a try to see if it is the program your using to edit the xml that's causing the trouble.

Edit: I've just tested and I got over 160 changes before I gave up counting, I made a water planet with tentacles coming out of the water, took me just over 130 to do all the water then I carried on making tentacle arms. I'm going to have a look at the file now see if I can give it a fix up without breaking the terraforming.

I still can't get past 50 changes to a planet though using your mod, have you confirmed it does work? what patch are you using?

Well there was the weird bugs on mine but it made no change to the amount of uses of sculpting tools, you have altered several other values in the file though what other alterations did you make?

At a guess I would say that whatever editor you used removed some of the decimal places from some of the values causing the weird bugs, I haven't yet determined why you can make roughly 120 changes with your mod and I can only make 50.

Edit: So far I've uncovered what I assume are unintentional changes to particle damping, EffectMaxTimeDelta (whatever that is) and other properties I haven't been able to identify.

Edit2: Several of the properties that are in yours (0x054D9BC3, 0x0604A631, 0x069710D4 and 0x069089A6) don't even appear in the original file.

I've just tried exactly what you said and it had no effect, perhaps you could post the package/prop up so others can see what you've done.

Mine still starts to revert at exactly 50.

but neither of these seem to have any effect.


Be great if you could tell us what you did. Thumbs up for getting it to sort of work anyway.

I have seen a couple of times other creatures attack and kill one of the infected creatures, the ooze doesn't seem to transfer but your radar points to the killer of the infected creature.

I wondered if it was intentional at first, as in they got the virus from eating an infected but then why wouldn't they have made the ooze transfer too.
