Chances are if the "old" features are turned off its for a better reason then cooperate greed.  They are almost definitely half done or so buggy they might as well not be there.

My parents learned that grounding me from computer wasn't a good idea-while grounded I wouldn't fix or help with computer problems.  And since I was the best with computers, they often stayed around until they ungrounded me. When we got Wi-Fi I became the network admin and didn't let them touch the setting so they couldn't block stuff their.  Glad to hear it all worked out Arachnoid, and local blocking is not really are that common, so don't feel bad about missing it.

They couldn't though, that type of painting caused chaos with normal mapping and other graphics problems with the creature just doing it's idling animations.

Did it come out by a system named New Eden?  Haven't found any funny names my self, though I'll keep my eyes open.

under vista put the files under:
C:\users\*username*\AppData\Roaming\SPORE

AppData is hidden so your have to set it to show hidden files under folder properties.

I've got a creature game with a crashed UFO on the planet. It's making futuristic beep noises whenever you get close to it, and you can only see half of it sticking out of the ground. I can't tell if it's a set model or if I'm looking at half of a UFO that someone designed. Either way, it was really cool to find.

Yeah, it seems all the starting planets have SOMETHING like that to set them apart.

The UFO is always a player designed ship. Its different every time.

Not always in several games I've found a <spoiler>Grox</spoiler> UFO.  I've filled it away for space ;) .

I guess I'm on the rarer end of getting months of gameplay out of a 30 or 40 dollar game then ... I tend to stick with game purchases that I can replay, or find new ways to play for a long time.

Part of the problem is the crashing ... (most likely because of Vista and all its fussiness with drivers and incompatibility problems ... My husband doesn't have near as many crash problems, his computer isn't quite as good as mine, BUT he doesn't have Vista)

But finding the money for Spore was pushing it, currently ... a whole new computer, or console system, is out of the question...

The big point is, Spore isn't the game that it was trumped up to be ... In my eyes, anyway...

I'm playing on vista and have only had it crash once on me, and all progress lost was my own fault.  Like many problems it sounds like the issue isn't the game, but the computer.

I'm on a school computer right now so I can't say for sure but there might me something in the Windows registry, but it's not a place for people who aren't confident with what their doing to go mess around in.

Thats what a sprite is-a 2D image, it's not meant to look realistic.  Its just fluff.
