In many ways, SPORE is like Populous. Both are great games but only for a very few people whitch caused both of them to be complete failures, financially.

Populous was hugely successful, selling ridiculous amounts on many platforms such as Amiga, ST, Archimides, DOS, and Mac OS; not to mention the many console conversions.
It was a great game too - from an era when Molyneux (and others ;-) could deliver on his ideas.

Can't see it myself - but then again, I do wear glasses!

Does remind me a bit of Sheep for the Playstation (one), or Tiny Troops for the Amiga.

Now I feel stupid.
Thought it was fairly new, so didn't do a full search, just on the front page.
Oh well.

I suppose there's even a Mac version now as well ;-)

Don't think this has been posted before.
(If it has - sorry - I did search ;-)

No Mac version it seems though :-(

Headache with pictures? <.<

All I know about is visual migranes, because I have them.

Basically you see this flashing zig-zagging light stuff switching colors very rapidly in the center of your vision and then it starts growing until it fills your vision completely, then it moves to the corner of one of your eyes and 15 minutes after... massive headache.

At least I get a warning and I can take my pills before the headache comes :P

I get those occasionally too.
They're REALLY annoying!

I don't get much of a headache with it, but I can't read/drive/use computers when it happens.

Might have something to do with the fact that for the last few years I've been going to bed about 1:30am - 2:00am, and getting up about 7:15 am for work.

Probably not good for you ;-)

Spore is to be made available on Steam - without SecureROM!

Never used Steam myself, but it seems to be popular.

You can't just let people go around doing something for free, if you can make money off of it.
Right, EA ? :-\

Fixed that for you ;-)

Remember kids, if your not famous your nothing. Nothing.

Unless you can spell correctly ;-)

("You're" is short for "you are". "Your" refers to an object that belongs to you)

Spore: General / Mac OS X Gift Pack on Spore Front Page
« on: October 02, 2008, 01:27:05 pm »
(It's on the EU site anyway - not sure about the others)

Quote from the page: -

"The Mac OS X Gift Pack includes a small suite of tools that were written to experiment with some of the feeds.
On the disk image, you will find: a Dashboard widget that shows the current set of Featured Creations, a Dashboard widget that lets you see any user's latest creations, and a screen saver that shows images from a feed.
The README on the disk image will give you more information about installation."

Sounds interesting, so am downloading now!

Great news unless you are a Mac user.

Way to hose us when you stated yourself "Play it on a Mac" Maxis. :(

Oh well...still excited about it. :)

We're working on the Mac version, I swear!!!

-caryl (who uses a Mac)

Hope you picked up on the fact that I was not really all that peeved. ;)

Thanks for the reassurance!

Me too ;-)

12 #1 game ever after Oblivion...

So it's your #2 game then.  ;)

I can't really comment as I've got the game, but my current computer can't play it!
Still saving for a new computer. Damned PPC Macs ;-)
(Bought it first, as I wanted the Galactic edition, and figured that it might sell out)

. . . there is after all more to Gamingsteve then Spore.

I don't believe you ;-)

Seriously - I wholeheartedly support closing of threads that do not warn of potential spoilers in the subject, and even banning repeat offenders !
