Can't forget about The Origin of Species, by C. Darwin  ;)

Spore: General / Re: Poll:Fleets or one ufo?

I think that the UFO is seperate from your species tech. In that the UFO is the swiss army knife for you, not your species.

Let me put it this way:  I think that the UFO is just an avatar for the last UI stage. But, in order for your species itself to interact with other planets and races, they would need to build starships. And they would be just like the vehicles in the city stages.

Makes sense to me  :D  ???

Is the picture for the Luminus Orbital Orb taken from the intro to Tron?  ???

Spore: General / Re: How do the uploads work?
« on: June 11, 2005, 02:27:44 pm »
yeh that sounds about right, once your creature becomes sentient you won't be able to edit them anymore, and once you get to the city stage your creature's personality(logical, emotional, economic, etc.) so by the time you first leave your planet i think it will upload your creature, vehicles and architecture... :D

Will has said that once you research genetic engineering, you have free accsess to the editor.

I don't think they will either.  :-[
Because Will said that he wanted the editor to be like Kid Pix. Where you do something that you might not like, but it still has neat side effects. If they were to release the editor as a demo, then people would be good at it at release and would not be making neat mistakes.

If robots can be a species. then wouldn't that effectivly double the necessary parts for the creature editor? Since you'd have organic and non-organic parts.

And you'll know when you run into my evil robot species.....

A Dyson sphere might be the ultimate protection for a angorophobic (or hopelessley violent) species.
Think about it, the sphere would emit no light from the star and could be shielded to keep in the EM. There's no way a civilization could find you. (especially if you have taken a liking to obliterating worlds 8)  )

Maybe you could do the monolith thing. then swing near the event horizon of a black hole for a bit, and skip ahead a few million years (thanks to the singularity's time warping gravity) and see what has happened to the species in the time that has past  ;D

The tail is also much longer and the legs don't stick out as much.

Well i'll play the role of an optimist and say that whenever and whoever made the final tripod, that the animation was done procedurally.

but then why the ruse? why couldn't they use the creature that Will did,  if the procedural stuff was done?

probably so the demo would run smooth.    ::)

What i'm saying is, that Will went into the creature editor and played around with the model, but as soon as he left it. it loaded a pre-done willosaur with a different model than the one he made.

which leads me to believe that the procedural stuff isin't ready yet.

same thing happened when he put the mushroom on the building. the mushroom's dimensions were different than the one will made.

the pics don't work? damn, they do for me. what error does it say?

Hi, brand new to the forum. I love spore for the new ideas it brings to gaming.
But, something i noticed while watching the gdc demo is that will's changes to the creatures did not effect the creature in the game.

Just look at the difference between the model that Will did:

And what it looked like the next time it came up:

I'm not complaining or anything. if everything he showed is in the release, i'll be happy as can be.

But it still worries me that none of the "procedural" stuff was real.

Sorry if this has been discussed before.

P.S who else is planning to make their UFO look like this?  ;D
