Spore: General / With All The Recent Hustle & Bustle...
« on: June 28, 2008, 11:14:32 am »
Since I was gone when the creature creator was released and only got internet back a few days ago, I was wondering if there have been any new videos released that aren't associated with the CC? I saw the recent interview with Will Wright about the cows and stuff, but any other videos I've missed?

Goin' through now to comment and rate as many as I can. I've only tagged my four best/favorite creatures so if anyone wants to take a quick look, my username is Baryonyx9 and they're tagged as "gamingsteve" Thank in advance! Any comments I get, I'll comment and rate all your creatures!

Spore: General / Anyone here overwhelmed?
« on: June 25, 2008, 06:20:42 pm »
I had the trial version for a long time before I got the full version shipped to me. Because I only had access to a few parts, i became familiar with them. But now that I have the whole thing, I'm feeling really overwhelmed. Not a problem, but just wondering if anyone else feels the same way.

I think that would be terrible. What if someone tries to make a creature but they can't make it because it's too similiar to a creature they've NEVER seen? When you see a creature's info, in addition to it's stats it should say something like this for example:

Creator: Baryonyx
Created: 10/31/07

That way, if it's that big of a deal to you, you can always point back to your creature being the original. No biggie. If someone replicated my creature, I wouldn't care all that much....

yeah, but thats in space phase. i want it when i get to civ phase

Well odds are, you won't be able to.

I think it would also be cool if you could take control of a little creature and walk around even in the city phase.

I have wanted this for ever.
it must be in!

Once you hit the space phase, you can have your creature get out of the UFO and walk around, so if you have him get out inside the city, voila.

Haha, just for creativities' sake. If you want to play 1 hour straight of space, you can do that. Think of the copy you got as the master copy. You can jump in at any phase, and also play through it. You also have access to all the editors in full.

Okay maybe this needs a little more explaining. Obviously you'd play it, but WHAT would you play? Would you spend the whole time in Civ phase? Cell phase? Tribal phase? All the phases briefly? Would you film your hour? Would you take screenshots? Would you be a jerk and keep it all to yourself?

I would play through it as fast as I could while recording it. If there was any time left over, I'd go more in depth with tribal phase. That seems to be the forgotten child...

What would you do if you were given a fully functional and unlocked version of Spore for ONE HOUR?

Also, in an unrelated note...I really wish they'd release a quick playthrough video. It sucks trying to watch the old long videos because it's so much different now. Anyways, CARRY ON! Answer the question! Be as detailed or as vague as you'd like. Have fun =]

IMHO Flying creatures would be broken in Spore. I've said this before...Alls you have to do is make a super predator and then slap wings on him and he's even more uber. Unless the put some restrictions on it, but putting restrictions on it would get others angry. It was best that it was cut and hopefully they will fine tune it for an expansion pack. ;D

I lol'd

Anyway, do you think we have flying creatures or not??

And can that giant thing fly aswell?? if one was to strap on some wings

i say ''YES'' to flying creatures. if you remove the legs and let the spine float in the editor, it MUST fly. because if you push the spine to the ground in the editor, it will crawl.
so i'm 100% pro- ''flying creatures will be in spore''

Sorry, but that's just not true. If there are no limbs, it will just "slug" itself around. If you watch the TED video, when you first come onto land, you are this slug. You "slug" around and leave a trail of ooze behind you. After you mate, you go into the editor, and the blob that was "slugging" around is floating. There won't be any flying creatures. You saw one creature already with wings, and the only thing they did was flap when he moved. If anything, they might increase your speed, but I can't be sure.
