Spore: General / Little icons next to planets
« on: March 01, 2009, 11:05:37 am »
So if you look at the view of all the planets in a solar system by mousing over the system you get a list of all the planets as well as if they are inhabitated, what kind of spice they have, etc. but if you look to the far left you see that each planet has a colored circle. What is that colored cricle represent? ive seen some that were blue, red, and green and thats all the colors ive seen so far. i have also seen a blue circle for one planet with a little cricle for another planet.

Wow what a great video. But i cant help but comment that i found it funny that at one point when the person on the computer is looking at UFOs in the Sporepedia every time he clicked a vehicle he would get an error message.

You guys should check out Oops. Its a creature that I had created based on a body style that was randomly chosen at the start up of the CC on my system. I must say even i am saddened by this but hey i wonder what i could create if i actually tried! Anywho enjoy.

So ive heard but then again that is expected. I dont think i have come into any real problems latley unless you consider some parts going through one another on occasion is a problem.

Im with a lot of you guys on this one when i say that i love it to my dying breath. But i do think it could have more options. But then again we have seen the CC in recent vids in the full game that had much more parts options than that of the current CC if im not mistaken. But hey theres a reason why Maxis released the CC early. Its there games biggest part. I mean its were you start before anything else. So obviously they are hitting two birds with one stone by populating the Spore universe before hand and taking advice on what could ,by many, be described as the "demo" of Spore.

And to YESH: Yea i see where you are coming from here. I mean after all when i first got the CC I actually used my imagination to create a creature. Now Im just slapping parts together. But when the actual game comes out i dont think that i would use any of my current creatures that i have now ill make a new one and really think hard about it. I would think about its design more than that of my first creature. But right now it serves me by providing amusement for my mind to create wierd things that would never servive in the game world (like my Oops creature). However im afraid that the CCs amusement is limited on my drives.

I dont see why you guys still think that the game would have such huge specs. In fact I dont think there is much indication that there would be a need for a high end machine.

That's 26.99 per-copy, you have two in your cart, 53.98 total - just to clarify the image.

Pices[sic] in the U.K range from 30 to 40 usually about 35 for a decent game thats $60 to $80 so thats about right.

I'll probably pay between 50 and 60 here in the Netherlands, that's $80 to $95  USD

THe[sic] dollar is weakened a great deal since then, all those jokes about canadian money being less than our don't even apply anymore.

i tihnk[sic] we just have to accept that on a world scale that 50 we used to pay isnt worth 50 anymore.

Once again, it doesn't matter at all what your local currency translates into in terms of USD; it will meet the current rate charged for PC games.

Think about this - why would prices on PC games, stable for many years at $30-$50 within the US jump in the middle of a market correction while the publisher is attempting to start a franchise?

Quote
i remember buying wow for 60 in what? 2005?

That's an MMORPG at around 50$ plus a subscription within the package.

Believe it or not, I'd actually pay 60 bucks for Spore... easily.  Plus 10 bucks for the full Creator.  Every game's a gamble, but if Spore is even half of what I expect it to be (and my expectation have been reduced over the last three years), it'll easily dominate my PC and my time.

It doesn't matter that a few fanboys would give their house to play Spore. From a business standpoint it would be insane to eliminate a casual demographic for higher prices and a smaller demand. Companies such as EA make more money through volume than prices. There is also the fact that charging one-fifth the retail value of the game for its less than one-fifth is flat out ridiculous.

Quote
World of Warcraft costs 15 dollars a month (US). Thus, the cost of WoW for six months is 90 dollars.
Spore could cost a total of 70 dollars (with the editor pre-release).  Assuming you play Spore as much as you play WoW for 6 months, you come out ahead.

Last time I checked, replayability had nothing to do with price. *see FEAR*

Actually the price of 49.99 or even 59.99 is not uncommon. In my community gaming is not huge therefore the price should be about standard or average. And most PC games here are 49.99 brand new.
