I swear people here are quite rude sometimes.  I didn't know this, thank you for posting that FutureFilms.

Spore: General / Re: Alien eggs: what do they do?
« on: October 28, 2008, 10:16:43 pm »
I have actually seen these from start to finish, they are cocoons.  Monsters enter these cocoons and evolve into a new species.

I had just gained a brain level and stumbled upon a creature I could have taken out with no problem.  I chased it back to it's nest just in time to see it and the others wrap themselves in those strange brown/green cocoons.  I waited there for quite some time and from the 'eggs' burst a completely new species, one that wasn't so weak against my abilities.

It seems to me that it keeps the game somewhat fair to your abilities, getting rid of the starter creatures you see when you first leave the ocean.

I see all of your achievements back to September 7th.  Perhaps the server was lagged or down temporarily.

You didn't do a bad job at all, I would use those.  Well done.

For those who said they can't drag and drop, I'm pretty sure it'd work if you put the song file in:
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Spore Creations\CityMusic
(or the appropriate folder on your computer if it is different)

And then on the music creation screen you click load song.

Spore: General / Re: Bizarre Things in Spore
« on: September 30, 2008, 09:26:20 pm »
I don't know if I would call this bizarre but it was certainly sad.  An epic had just made its way over to my nest but wasn't attacking, it kept roaring at my creatures but hadn't yet done anything.  A baby version of my creature, which was very cute, picked up a stick and threw it at the epic.  The epic seemed unaffected and immediately killed the baby, before leaving the rest of my nest alone.  There was something very sad about seeing this cute little creature make a valiant yet futile attempt to defend its people.

Also, one time I was playing as an aggressive creature and was chasing a weak creature back to it's nest where I was sure to get an easy lunch and a cakewalk time of killing off the race.  Just as I get there they all wrapped themselves in these ugly, green, pulsing cocoons.  I waited for quite some time for them to exit the cocoons, and when they did, they were much more deadly creatures that promptly kicked my ass.

Spore: General / Re: Collective Patch Issues
« on: September 19, 2008, 01:00:14 am »
All these effects that everyone has been having since the patch are issues that I have been having with the game since I got it, but then again my system is below the minimum requirements so I expect that.  Perhaps the patch has either intentionally or unintentionally raised the system requirements?

Spore: General / Re: Question about Space stage - holograms.
« on: September 17, 2008, 04:26:59 am »
I am sorry to bump this thread, but has anyone yet discovered a use for this tool?  I thought I remembered semi-recent videos and pictures prior to the launch that looked as if you could beam your character down.  Has the hologram replaced that entirely?  It is strange that your hologram can not jump, fly, swim, talk, interact, or even move at a half decent pace.  If it were any slower, I might begin to think I was beaming down a holographic statue.  It is difficult to use the hologram to explore a planet from the ground, as the lack of speed and ability to interact with things causes me to get stuck quite often in dips and chasms.  I am not complaining, just curious if I have missed something.

Creature Diet: Herbivore
Survival Strategy: Safety in Numbers
Conquering: Peaceful/Religion
Type: Peaceful Explorers

My main creature is one that evolved from an animal with herding instincts similar to bovine and other such animals on Earth, they will be peaceful and rarely if ever use violence to achieve their means.

Spore: General / Re: Where in Sporeville are you?

Jamestown, New York, USA.

Where the last exciting thing that happened here was the birth of Lucille Ball, which was all the way back in 1911.

Spore: General / Re: Spore: can you run it? (test tool)
« on: August 06, 2008, 01:35:36 pm »
That is a good tool to give you a basic idea but I don't always put my faith in it.  It says I can't run Spore due to my video card.  It also says that for the Creature Creator, Sims 2, and World of Warcraft, all of which play wonderfully on my computer.

Spore: General / Re: Floating Mouths Glitch
« on: August 02, 2008, 09:49:29 pm »
I normally have the same bug too, but occasionally I luck out and end up doing things just right, and it works perfectly.  I normally don't post a creature without thinking of a better name and basic story, but I put this creature up to show what I mean.  I'm not sure if this is the right way to link it, so I apologize if it doesn't work.(

If that link doesn't work my sporepedia page is ( and it's the creature called Tangu.  I only have a few creatures up so he's easy to find.

I think he illustrates that when done right with a little bit of luck, mouths can work quite well on limbs.

Spore: General / Re: stupid amazon/usps

I only just received my copy today from Amazon, and the location it was sent from isn't that far away.  I ordered on the 9th, it shipped on the 18th, and got here today on the 23rd.  To be honest it really didn't take that long, but being anxious for it just made it worse.

Spore: General / New Box Art?
« on: June 21, 2008, 02:26:54 pm »
My apologies if this has already been posted, but it looks like they have changed the box art for Spore on the official site.

Edit: I should probably clarify why I posted this.  It seems much more official to me than the old mock box art, and I wondered if maybe I hadn't noticed it before.  Also it appears to be rated T by the ESRB on the box, but that could still be a placeholder.
