Everything Else / Re: Not a lot of people know that...

I'm a descendant of Hannibal Hamlin, vice-president to Abraham Lincoln in his first term.

Luckily he was dropped from the ticket in 1864. I say that because the new vice-president, Andrew Johnson, was almost assassinated the same night as Lincoln, when John Wilks Booth (or an accomplice, not sure) tried to slit his throat with a knife. Fortunately, Johnson had been in a horse-riding accident recently, and his throat was protected by a brace. Had Hamlin been vice-president at the time, he may very well have been killed.

What's the point of getting a Best Buy warrenty when Microsoft covers you for three years? Is it because Microsoft's warrenty only covers the three flashing lights?

Although by getting one from Best Buy, you probably don't have to wait a month to get it replaced, right? I guess that could have some worth, especially with the avalanche of games coming!

Maybe it's just my imagination, but I could swear that I feel air coming in through the right-side vent (right-side when the console is standing horizontally). Does anyone else feel this? If so, it might be where fresh air is coming in to cool the system down? So by standing the console vertically, it may be blocking this passage? :-\

It was until June, I think.

Now it's 500 points, however.

It depends on if you'd really use it. Of course, you're not going to be using it as your default browser when you go onto the internet. However, I've gotten a lot of use out of it by showing family/friends videos on YouTube. It's much easier and more comfortable to be able to sit on the couch watching various YouTube videos on the TV then to be huddled around a computer.

you can buy fender guitars...witch are better than gibsons in my opinion.

It's ok. I won't hold your ignorance against you.

Kidding. Well, sorta... :P

But the whole Gibson vs. Fender guitar with these is just aesthetic. There's no difference other than how they look.

That will get quite expensive.

To me, Guitar Hero has had it's run, but Rock Band seems to be the sort of next logical step.

Besides, Harmonix, the original creators of Guitar Hero, are the one's now working on Rock Band, while Activision has Neversoft working on Guitar Hero III. The two games should be judged on their own merits, but I trust Harmonix much more to make a great rhythm than Neversoft.

Well two years ago they revealed the Wii controller at TGS, but yeah, besides that, they don't normally go to TGS.

Although I too thought I heard that they were giving some sort of keynote or something this year.

Congrats LadyM!

But how silly of you! It's upside-down! :D

Grrr....I know that I've said I favor the PS3 over the 360 many times, but it's getting awfully hard to resist...

Let us know your gamertag and when/if you get it online! And enjoy Oblivion! That game looks great!

Doesn't Rare usually have two projects under way at the same time? Ghoulies and Conker, Kameo and Perfect Dark Zero, Banjo and Viva Pinata? Now that Viva Pinata is out and Banjo is underway, what else are they working on.

It's heavily rumoured that they're working on another Perfect Dark.  Ignoring Zero's obvious problems, it was still a pretty good game, and it sold very well, especially compared to Viva Pinata and Kameo.  And I wouldn't be surprised to see the original Banjo Kazooie coming free with the new Banjo, or even released on the Arcade around the same time.

But Rare themselves said Killer Instinct is never going to happen, because they know themselves it was a bad game.

Microsoft has said previously that Rare's position in their strategy will be to expand their game portfolio with games like Kameo, Viva Pinata, Banjo, etc. And with Halo 3, Too Human, and Mass Effect all coming within the next year, I think Microsoft has their "sci-fi" section covered.

Still, if PDZ sold well enough, I'm sure Microsoft would warrent a sequel. I certainly hope that they would; PDZ was a great game, but there's no denying that it was rushed. If Microsoft allows Rare to take its time on the sequel, it could be so much better.

Jet Force Gemini 2 better happen as well. Oh, and throw all of them on Xbox Live Arcade with online multiplayer/coop. We've seen that Microsoft will do it for things like Bungie's old projects (Marathon) so, like you said, I'm sure it'll happen close to when Banjo is released.

Well all I will say is that Rare better not mess up Banjo, which I somewhat doubt that they will.

I want to see something new out of Banjo. Kameo and PDZ are fine games, but neither do anything very new. Viva Pinata I will give Rare credit for being a fairly original concept. It borrows a lot from the likes of Animal Crossing and such, but Animal Crossing/Harvest Moon are games I've never been able to get into, while Rare somehow made Viva Pinata very accessible and fun.

But gosh darn, get to work on Jet Force Gemini 2! I somewhat doubt it, with the Xbox 360's first-party offerings already filled with Sci-fi themed games in Halo 3, Mass Effect, and Too Human, but just make it happen! I will go buy an Xbox 360 for it!

Maybe if you have a mad lisp or are from Boston.

Maybe Leipzig or TGS? There's still some shows left this year that it could be announced at.

Oh, don't talk about Metroid like it's something you have to get while you wait! You have to get Metroid regardless! :P

That's a bummer that you can't play Bioshock at release, but hey, at least it didn't crap out on you when Halo 3 or Mass Effect were released, eh?

Console Games / Re: Demos
« on: August 10, 2007, 06:50:08 pm »
Well more controlled games like Metroid Prime 3 and Super Mario Galaxy would work well in demo form. The only problem is that it would be near impossible to squeeze those down into a manageable size that would fit onto the Wii's 512 MB of internal flash storage. And I think most of us have some of that storage taken up with VC, game saves, channels, etc.

What Nintendo should do is offer DS demo's through the Wii. That, and/or release a Wii HDD.

Well I guess that Microsoft would most likely be just repairing your system, rather than replacing it altogether, so you probably wouldn't get one of the newer 360's anyways (unless your system got really screwed up!).

But if they did replace it completely, you've still got Picross and Metroid coming up.

Don't tell me you're going to pass on least not altogether!
