It'll be $99.99 in New Zealand. Stupid high game prices.

The crap NZ school system is more or less the same as the British system as far as I'm aware.

School starts at age 4 or 5, kindergarten/preschool is optional before then. It goes on from year 1 until year 13. However, school's no longer compulsory after you turn 16.

Primary school goes from year 1 until year 6

Intermediate school goes from year 7 (Form one) until year 8 (Form two)

Secondary goes from year 9 until year 13, i.e. form 3 until form 7.

However in NZ, school is generally a waste of time unless you really have a passion to go to university and work in a particular field. Otherwise there's much more money to be had to just go straight into the workforce or start a business.

While ranting about how the game will be poor quality is idiotic and foolish considering humanity's inability to predict the future with any certainty, it would pay to also be wary of unbridled optimism. The disappointment of fans who were anticipating features never planned in the game can be major. As we all know that the "hardcore" gamers are the most vocal and threaten to destroy online communities before they even get off the ground. Word of mouth is a powerful advertising tool, what kind of advertising however, is much more important.

I recall a thread similar to this yonks ago and I think my answer went something like this...

I'd do something vaguely like what the Zerg did. I would find the most peaceful, docile and friendly animals I could find on their planet. Then through the miracle science of genetic engineering I would turn them into psychotic, violent and murderous meat-eaters and let them loose upon the planet. Once the enemy numbers are thinned I would then abduct members of their species, turn them into horrifying monsters, or if they're already monsterous, I would turn them harmless and weak and drop them on my home planet and perhaps the colonies if they're meeting their quotas to serve as pets or manual labour for my species. I would then take a few of the psychotic herbivores and place them on some kind of zoo planet for future use.

Once the planet is no longer interesting and I've taken all I want from it. I'll drain, poison or otherwise make the planet unlivable for even micro-organisms in order to exterminate all life. When that's complete I'd establish a colony of my species to extract natural resources for the empire. However I wouldn't terraform the planet until I'm satisfied that the colony is productive and worth my time. If they do perform well, I'll consider providing natural sources of water, flora and fauna. Of course, this isn't out of my goodwill. By making the planet much more habitable, if the colony displeases me, I'd then be able to let loose my murderous creations and they could thrive, thus making my displeasure a much more terrifying thing than simply blowing up cities.

However, this could all be avoided if the planet originally joins the empire voluntarily. If possible, I would attempt to diplomatically coerce them into joining and should negotiations fail (i.e. they don't unconditionally surrender sovereignty) then I will use the above tactics to acquire the planet.

Disclaimer: I am aware most of the things I'm talking about probably won't be possible or won't work out that way in the game.

I'm hoping to be something like the Combine. Going out to worlds with vastly inferior technology, enslaving them and draining their world of all its resources. And perhaps exterminating species with technology on par with my race.

Don't listen to anything Gameplanet NZ says, New Zealanders don't know anything and I doubt a crappy site with one store in a city would have any idea of a release date.

Trust me, I'm a New Zealander.

He and I shared a romantic walk down on a moonlit beach and then got busy. Now I'm pregnant with his kids.

I love EA. They're my favourite company. I want to have the CEO's babies. Don't fight the corporation, they're your friends, they're here to help.

Good idea, let's kidnap Will Wright's wife, hold her hostage and demand the feature be included or his wife will be murdered and dumped in the Boston river.

Spore? What's that?

But seriously, the wait's been too long for me to bother with, it always happens and I knew it'd happen with spore, once it takes too long to come out I just lose interest.

And as for the plethora of new people who have come since I stopped posting here, listen up. Prepare yourself for delays, prepare yourself for game-crippling bugs and CTDs, prepare to have it run poorly on your crappy system, update your sound and video drivers, expect gameplay imbalances/exploits/flaws and expect the unexpected. This is a game, and it's an ambitious and enormous game, so obviously like every game, it's going to have its fair share of problems and the gameplay will never be what you expect it to be like, no matter how much you (may think you) know about the game.

Let the end of the world commence then.

Btw, to the member with the baby wearing the shirt with the Nazi slogan, "hiel" is mispelt, the i and e are the other way around. With the the current spelling, the shirt text would be pronounced "Heel Hitler". Useless contribution? Yes. Why did I do it? I'm crazy.

Spore: General / Re: Restrictions on evolutionary progress?
« on: June 18, 2006, 02:46:10 pm »
You will probably be restricted from making such huge changes because of a limited supply of evolution points. Also each time you breed and change your creature, it's supposed to represent thousands of years worth of evolution.
