PC Games / Re: "Ancient" games

Ahhh, Oldies but goodies! In no particular order, a list of (some) of my all-time favorites (with the PC or OS I played it on):

 - Haunted House (1982, Trash-80 Model II): The one which got me into PC gaming! I used to play this text adventure on the math teacher's computer during lunch back in junior high. I had to load the game from an audiocassette tape!

 - Sid Meier's Civilization (1991, Packard Bell 386SX16): The first game to suck my life away. I would play this game well into the evening until I realized the only thing that was disturbing my gameplay was the beam of the dawn sunlight coming through my window! I would then have to call in sick at work to just get some sleep. Just one more turn!

 - The Ancient Art of War (1986, IBM PC jr.): I was addicted to playing this game during our BASIC programming class in high school. Forget Dune II, this game was argueably the first real-time strategy game!

 - Starflight (1987, Tandy 1000SX): My first experience with open-ended gameplay. I was blown away at the sheer size of the game map I could explore.

 - X-COM: UFO Defense (1993, i486DX33): The first game played on my first home-built PC. Another one of the "Just one more turn" games, it was cool to fly all over the earth to take on those pesky aliens!

I've contributed some comments on a few of the gamingsteve folk's creatures this morning, but now that I'm at work, I'll only be doing thumbs up/down on gamingsteve creatures throughout the day.

I'm currently browsing this forum at work (shhhh!), but I'll take a look at everyone's creations when I get home tonight!
