Spore: General / Re: why no info for the DS version?
« on: May 24, 2006, 03:35:39 am »
the only advantage normal PCs are starting to have is an online game server thats free.

And a mouse and keyboard ;)

As far as why no info the DS, I don't know why, but I do know you shouldn't assume it's coming out before the PC just because a company with no affiiation with EA is saying it will. I would put 0 stock in that unless they stated somewhere how they got that date.

Spore: General / Re: Advanced editors idea ~ hear me out on this.

Actually, it's more like instead of 2K, more like, at most with really complex animations and everything, 80K. Still not too bad even for dial-up users. That said, I doubt we'll see it. I'd love it if it did, it would be wonderful, but I don't see it happening.

Spore: General / Re: Will our board be flooded with n00bs?
« on: May 14, 2006, 03:37:20 am »
The whole thread makes no sense (oooh a double negative), as there are always n00bs joining and this is a good thing because if there wasn't this community would die a horrible death. Remember, we were all n00bs once. Besides the more people that come here the more exposure to Spore we get (though I can't think of much more better we can get then having Will on board and posting).

How many times must I say this? And it's not just me, many people on various forums are getting tired of this bit of illiteracy. Here we go again:

N00b: In short, synonym for a**hole. Conveys no sense of how long a person has been present in the community.

Newb: Someone who has only recently joined an online community, such as a forum or videogame.

I haven't read this entire thread so sorry if this has already been expressed but I for one would pay more, say maybe even as much as $80 American (as opposed to the normal $50 for a new game) if the game would get delayed. That's right, delayed. Most games, if they go through numerous delays, end up being the best games. So BRING ON THE DELAY! Okay maybe delays aren't THAT good, but please don't move the release date up! Of course that would be hard since we still don't have a release as far as I know...

Two points:

1. I don't think it will be that bad. It would be good to get some fresh blood around here. Take that wording where you will.

2. Please, before they come, learn the difference between newb and n00b. They are two very different terms. "Newb" is an affectionate term for someone just coming in to, in this case, the forum. N00b, is an insult usually directed towards someone who is acting like a total ***hole, and should know better.

Lucky you, now I'm jealous.

I actually would give you a few bucks, but I'm only 17, so no paypal for me. Sorry but I'm not asking my parents if I can give money away to some (mostly) stranger. At least I'm with you in spirit.

Spore: General / Re: Which parts of spore fits with which handheld?
« on: April 29, 2006, 03:39:00 am »
Yeah, I like snake to, especially if you get a multiplayer going and have to watch that you don't run into each other. I never figured out if it was supposed to be competitive of cooperative? :-\ He he, good times, even on a 386.

Back on topic, I said land stage for both, but I think the handhelds will get more than one stage. I think a better question would be, what doesn't come to the handhelds? To which I'd say the space, and maybe the city stages.

Spore: General / Re: Metaballs
« on: April 18, 2006, 06:25:38 am »
I think metaballs would be nice as a creature editor tool. Would really open up new possibilities for making your creature look exactly like you want it to. Sadly, I doubt it will be in, as it takes a lot of practice to work with them, and a lot of processing power to render them accurately.

For those of you who don't see the use of metaballs, here's an image of a 3d object that I made using nothing but metaballs:

Oddworld. It's a series of videogames. You can go here for more info:

I'd love to see some of those things in game, even though I've never played a single oddworld game before. Howver, due to copyright issues, I estimate a 0% chance of any of them being included with the game.

Spore: General / Re: How will you play Spore?
« on: April 05, 2006, 04:21:19 am »
I'll probably keep track of the Predators who liked eating me as I was evolving. Then when I hit the space age, I'll take a few representatives of every species into space and see what happens as I drop them on various types of planets  ;D After that, I'll probably choose one or two particularly despised species, drop the on a habitably planet, give them sentience, then keep tabs on their development. Once they are all thinking "Look at our vast technology and know-how! Who can possibly defeat us?) BAM!!! Bye bye planet!!! I'll probably completely exterminate them on my home planet to while I'm at it.

Spore: General / Re: editor/Spore release date betting pool
« on: April 02, 2006, 07:56:20 am »
I'll say somewhere around 3 weeks. I think that's about how long the EMpire at WAr demo was out before the game's release. Of course that's a completely unrelated game, but hey it's something.

It looks to me, just looking at the image not the text, that they are changing the orbit of a planet. That doesn't mean that's all you can do, but that in itself is pretty nasty to anything living on there. Turn a Mercury like planet into an ice ball anyone? (Yes I know, there's no water on mercury. That's what the Genesis device is for ;D)

Insects with four feet?

"Yet these may ye eat of every flying creeping thing that goeth upon all four, which have legs above their feet, to leap withal upon the earth; Even these of them ye may eat; the locust after his kind, and the bald locust after his kind, and the beetle after his kind, and the grasshopper after his kind. But all other flying creeping things, which have four feet, shall be an abomination unto you."
Leviticus 11:21-23

Just for the record, insects have six feet and arachnids have eight. WRONG"

No where in that does it say insects have 4 feet. Read it again. It's part of a list, like this: list of games I like: RPG's, Call of Duty 2, and Metroid Prime. That doesn't mean Call of Duty 2 and Metroid Prime are RPGs, there just items in a list!

"Bats identified as "birds?"

In the Biblical classification system, if it flys and doesn't have an exoskelton it's a bird. If it swims it's a fish. Don't go trying to force a classification system man developed hundreds of years after the Bible was written, and then go calling the Bible wrong. Talk to any archeologist knowledgeable about the time period, and I'm sure they can tell you that by that days standards and terms, bats were birds.

Rabbits claimed to chew their cud?

"And the hare, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you."
Leviticus 11:6

To chew the cud means to eat grasses, swallow, then regurgitate later for further chewing. Rabbits simply do not do this. However, rabbits do eat their own poo, in order to absorb certain nutrients that passed through unabsorbed the first time. This is similar to human urine drinking. WRONG!

Chewing the cud could also be defined more broadly as eating food a second time. Since rabbits eat there own **** (don't know if I can say that here, so I'll play it safe and let you figure it out) they chew their cud. Get you facts straight please.

"There are further scientific difficulties in the Bible, In one
of the Books of Kings, there is a reference to a "molten sea" with a
diameter of ten cubits and a circumference of thirty cubits. This
would imply that pi = 3. Though this is certainly a convenient
approximation (5% too small), it is not exact. Thus, one part of the
Bible is not "absolute truth."

That's so stupid, the only way I can stand it is because you didn't say it, you are only qouting someone else. Theyforget about the rim of the bowl! And if that's not satisfactory, then have you ever heard of a little concept called rounding? After all, if I remember the passage properly it is measured in hand's breadths, and that's not as exact as inches and centimeters anyway, so you'd expect them to round.

You asked for scientific evidence that Evolution didn't happen. Well, I'd rather not get caught in a never-ending debate that will only lead to frustration. I only posted this, to help protect the faith of another individual. If you want facts to dispute try here: but I will (almost certainly without success) try to stay out of another debate.

One last message to those who say they are Christians and believe in Evolution: You are telling me that there was death before man. If that's the case then, man is not responsible for this cursed earth, in which case Christ did not have to die for our sins, in which case you are the stupidest fools in the world for believing in Christianity. No one who thinks it thorugh can be all of these things at once: 1. An Evolutionist 2. a Creationist, and 3. sain. You just can't do it. If anyone ever convinces me that Evolution is true, I will reject all tenets of my faith. It is the only rational thing I could possibly do. I'm not saying that the idea of a god using Evolution to create life is without merit, although the scientific evidence clearly point against that, but don't call yourself a Christian please. You're only an embarassment to the true Christians out there. I'm not saying you won't be in heaven. The Bible says that if you call upon the name of Jesus to cleanse your sins you will be saved. I'm just saying you haven't thought things through. You have to choose. You can't be an Evolutionist and a Christian at the same time.

It'd be stupid, but just for kicks I'd probably make a race of Hedgehogs. Sonic the Hedgehog style of course. ;D

Probably make something like the Chozo from the Metroid series as well. Might toss in some Space Pirates, why not? Come to think of it, something resembling the Ing in their basic state might be nice to.

And no doubt about it. I've GOT to make, even if I make no other non-original character, I've GOT to make a Shivan, my namesake. not a good picture I know, (he only looks like he has 3 walking legs, but they have 6. 4 they walk on, then the two graspers you see on top). but you don't actually see them much, you primarily fight them in space in their ships. They're from Descent: Freespace 1 and 2

I ask, who was it that said 'simple?' Wasn't me. They aren't simple, but they are consistent.
