Title: Just finished reading Journey to the Centre...
Post by: sltlamina on July 10, 2007, 10:37:38 pm
...good book, it's like 20 or 30 years old but it's good. Was too short though, usually I don't like to read a book unless I get a good 3...maybe 400 or more pages in it, this was only 200. But it was a good read. Dunno if there's a sequel or what as I can't seem to find much info about it on the internet (well I could, but usually I like to use wikipedia as...well I just do, I'm not to fond on shuffling through loads of other sites.)

Anyone else read it? If not...DO SO!

Haven't read it.

Is this the one by Vernes?

You know, the guy who wrote 20000 Leagues Under The Sea?

*Tries to look for it, but can't*

It was? :D

All I know is he's from Shipley, and my Mummy was born there (feel free to laugh at the word Mummy...it is funny :D)

Oh no wait, no it wasn't, this book was written in the 70's or something, that Vernes guy was long gone by then. This is different that the "Journey to the Centre of the Earth" (which WAS written by that Vernes dude) ;)

Actually I did read Jurassic Park, is that the one with the hell load of swearing? (That's all I remember from it cuz I think I read it when I was like 10).

That's the one!  ;D

The movie cut out so much....

In the book, I think 5 people survived. In the movie, I think 9 or 10 did.

The original book and it's sequal The Lost World were written by Michael Chriton, who, in my opinion, is one of the best modern Sci-fi writers. Read State of Fear sometime. It'll rock your world. ;D

As for the original subject matter: I'll have to look for it some time, sounds good.

I've read State of Fear.

I agree, I began reading his books when I was eight and thought they were great. Still do.

I own almost all his fiction books(I just need Congo and Rising Sun).

I think he's probably the best Modern Sci-Fi author out there.

Ever read Sphere? Prey?

Both! ;D

Yeah, I need to find Congo, too.

Andromeda Strain was awesome too...

Airframe was my first one and was a little meh for me.

I didn't like Anderoma Strain much.

Loved Airframe though.

What was your favorite part of SoF?
