Looking forward to it but I doubt I'll rush out and get it the first day. You'll have to let us know how you like it but without spoiling the plot.

I can't wait for the new book. I really like the Harry Potter books.

I've actually been reading them since the second book mainly because I did the games for the Harry Potter web site for Scholastic when the third book was released in the States. At the time I thought it would be a good idea to read the book so that I could do a better job designing the games, and I was hooked ever since!

:( Yeah, I saw it too.. maybe its not true.  :-\ You'd have to get through 600 pages to find out and even then, it may not be what it seems on that page by the end of the book.  It's still a wait and see for me.

Ok, Dumbledore did indeed die in the hands of Snape!   :'(

Snape is the half-blood Prince   >:(

Romance: Harry + Ginny   /   Ron + Hermione

A lot more plot in the book, if you haven't read it, and read all the other Harry Potter books, this one is strongly recommended.

 :)

I bought the book at midnight where I live though I hadn't actually gone out specifically to buy it. I was out drinking with some friends and got really drunk and whilst walking home saw a huge queue (about 100 people) outside a local bookshop so thought it would be a good idea to join it (as you do when drunk).

Luckily whilst I was waiting they opened up the shutters to inside the shopping centre and I found another book shop inside without a queue so didn't have to wait like most of the others ;-)

Well I bought the book and I started it ... on the first chapter. Heh, I like to read these books slow so figure a few weeks before I'm totally finished.

I have my book and I started the first chapter. I will be taking it slow also but I know of at least 5 people who read the entire book the first day.

Yea, this books is quite short compared to the other ones. However, if you have read to other Potter books, this one is the most informing book, with less *crap*.

Meh, most of my reading is done in my extra time in school, and harry potter isn't exactly something you wouldn't get made fun of for reading as a sophmore/junior;)

I'll just watch the movie or read the sparknotes version of it :p

I just finished reading it and I liked it.  The only non spoiler thing I can think of saying is how really well the title fits with the story.

Finished it, and thoroughly enjoyed it.  Someone indeed told me a spoiler the other weekend which pissed me off monumentally, but yeah, finished it in about 3 days casual reading.  I'll eat my words, and say that i was wrong about Rowling - she's pulled out all the stops for this one and i loved the "dark" aspect of the book.  If you haven't read it yet then you will definately enjoy it.

No, i'll just borrow it like i did this one ;).  Only reason i read it so quickly was because someone told me a spoiler and i had this urge to find out if they were taking the mick or not.  But yeah, was a good book - i'm allowed to be wrong once or twice!

I enjoyed it, but I feel bad for my wife. She was in line dropping our boy Simon off at camp, and telling him about how "we'll read it when you get back" and the stupid (expletive) in line behind her spoiled the big secret (the one mentioned in the above clip). You know... if you're gonna listen to someone else's conversation, listen to the whole thing and get the part about NOT HAVING READ IT YET!!!!!  Grrrrr....

I read all of the books, but I like the 4th one better than this one. It seemed dumb to me that Dumbledore died, and I also thought that it ended a little weird.

One other thing that I don't like about JK Rowling's books is that they are too easy to read. I read really fast anyways, so these books don't usually last any longer than a day.

Gah it was 2005 when this book came out?  Doesn't seem that long ago but I guess it is.

Anywho, the movie is actually gonna be released in two parts, so we're gonna have Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince 1 and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince 2.  They say it's because it would be too long otherwise but given the fact that they managed with the 5th book, and the precedent set by Return of the King, I'm thinking it's just because they want us to have to pay for 2 different movies.

Funniest (with the exception of certain less appropriate titles) and/or best HP fanfic ever? I'm thinking yes. Basically instead of being raised by crazy psycho abusive adoptive parents, the kid is raised by crazy psycho scientist/PhD/Philosopher adoptive parents.

Yeah, huge bump, I know, but this seems to be the de facto Harry Potter thread, so..
