Answer the poll and then post your fave cartoon! Or are you all to old for cartoons?
I've just started watching invader Zim over here in the UK, its on about once a week, i think (if it is on more i cant find it anywhere!). I think it's great!
I love Fairly odd parents and Samurai jack too though, oh and i cant forget the old ren and stimpy, before nickelodeon made it child friendly...
Almost forgot family guy and futurama!
-
I don't watch many cartoons but I still find them funny. I loved Ren & Stimpy. (hairballs, booger collections, and rubber nipples!)
I also watch South Park which is animated. Don't know if that counts.
Happy Happy Joy Joy!
-
I'm a full blown cartoon loser. I watch Cartoon Network's Adult Swim from 11 PM to 2 AM every night except Friday. I'm all about Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Futurama, Sealab and Harvey Birdman. I've also grown quite fond of Paranoia Agent, the characters are incredibly complex, multilayered and the presentation is outstanding. I'm usually not a fan of anime, but I gotta give it props.
-
If you count The Simpsons and Family Guy, then yes, I do.
I don't watch TV much other than those 2 shows, though.
Oh, and I watch Garfield in the mornings at like 6:30.
-
yes... Southpark, Simpsons and shows like those. I also like the old Loony Tunes cartoons.. you catch alot more "adult" humor in them now than when you were a kid. ;)
-
I would, but I dont really have time anymore.
I watch downloaded episodes of family guy, american dad, south park, etc but thats about it
-
I would if I had time. I like all sorts of stuff from Cartoon Network. Dexters Lab, Power Puff Girls, Jonny Bravo, Ed, Edd and Eddy. Its a guilty pleasure.
I also like Animie series, but also have little chance to watch them.
-
Well even though I dont watch too many cartoons anymore I still find it a guilty pleasure from when I was younger to watch Yu-gi-oh and Digimon. (but only from the first 3 seasons of digimon)
p.s. dont laugh at me :P
-
Oh, and I watch Garfield in the mornings at like 6:30.
Good god, Garfield is still on?
(Lorenzo Music for the win)
-
i watch alot of anime aswell, anime rocks XD
-
I have two children and a wife that are addicted, so I get to 'enjoy':
Grim adventures of Billy and Mandy
SpongeBob
Fairly Odd Parents
-

Yeah, where I live it's on the WB every weekday morning, right before Carmen Sandiego.
-
Fillmore is one of the best cartoons out there. It's a crime drama in cartoon form set in a middle school. So much overblown seriousness. I don't know if ABC still runs it but the disney channel was for a while. Other than that, adult swim, Family guy, etc etc. I still like King of the Hill from time to time as well. -leeman
-
Futurama, some anime that is forced on me, perhaps South Park or Family Guy every now and then. Am totally bored of the Simpsons - the jokes are getting very old very fast now.
-
I completely failed to mention Invader Zim which is a truly amazing show for children. Organs getting sucked out of children, eyeballs being ripped out of children, and horrible hell demons spilling into our world through a small child's head. For chidren! -leeman
-
Invader Zim-damn cool.
personally I like samurai jack, that one's awsome.
And fosters home for imaginary friends What? It's genuinely witty and the animation is good.
I would enjoy anime more if the following did not take place:

I love Samurai Jack, so much I actually bought a T shirt, and I never buy T shirts.
-
Speaking of t-shirts i do admit to buying a VGCats Aeris one... i love that shirt!
-

I would so buy that shirt if I could justify it. The VGcats poster too.
-
It's actually really good quality. I recommend it. The Aeris bit has lasted perfectly through many washes in my washing machine and it looks good too. No justification needed - even with shipping fees for me it was worth it!
-
Yes.
-
The trouble is that I already have a bunch of t-shirst, the vast majority of which I got for free. My wife is constantly trying to get me to get rid of them, and I have dumped over 50% of them. Hmmm......
-
Oh yeah i have tens and tens of shirts too, and only 2 or 3 pairs of jeans in comparison - but you can never have enough shirts, i like a selection.
-
I got myself Strongbad T-shirt from Homestar runner for xmas last year and it still holding up strong... bad
-
well i still think spongebob is funny but i don't watch it alot.
-
If the simpsons and family guy count then I guess I watch catroons too. Besides that I don't watch much TV, except for the Apprentice and Mythbusters
-
Family Guy, American Dad, the other odd cartoon when there's nothing else on.
-

Add futurama to that and you have my cartoon watchings.
-
By the way, I forgot that there are going to be new Family Guy's on starting tonight. It will be on at 9:00 PM EST on FOX every Sunday for a couple of weeks. I really like how they're spreading them out over the entire year instead of having 20 or so of them for a while, then nothing until next season.
-
SIMPSONS ROCK
(http://www.zodm.com/images/9Kx06727.jpg)
-
well i still think spongebob is funny but i don't watch it alot.
I married you in Harvest Moon.
-
The Simpsons has really started to go downhill. There arent any more good jokes and everything seems so forced. Also, Homer seems to have changed from a goodnatured simpleton to a violent alcoholic madman.
-
I've been running with the theory that Groeing and Cohen are intentionally dailing down the show in an attempt to provoke a ratings dump that would give them an excuse to finally dump the show and move on.
-
SIMPSONS ROCK
Camel toe Homer is better.
-

Its less depressing than the theory that Matt groening has become so absorbed into the Simpsons that he cant see how much the recent episodes have sucked, and the fact that they all seem to centre around 'homer's marriage is in trouble...again'
-
i think yesterday's Treehous of Horrors was prety good.
-
Was it a new one, if so then we dont have it in england yet, besides every episode cant be a halloween episode. I think they should be put to rest, friends was a huge phenomenon and they had the guts to admit the show needed getting rid of.
They scratched Futurama before it got crap too, the stories stopped being focused around making deliveries as the lead up to a visit to a popular sci-fi ripoff planet and more about giving all the characters lame personal lives. the very last episode was a partial return to form though (probably because it had that devil robot in it).
-
it was a new one
-
I like Futurama, Bender and Fry make me laugh.
-
Your mom makes me laugh!
(something Graham Vivec always says at school)
-
I could never get cartoons. No matter where they're from. Japan, Canada, Europe, they're all pretty awful if you ask me.
-
I just bought The Complete Series of Dungeons & Dragons. I loved this show when i was a kid. I also have all season's of the original Transformers and the movie too. I still watch Cartoons and im 23.
-
I'd say about 90% of today's cartoons are evil.
Even more evil are the REALLY bad remakes of 80's cartoons. The 80's couldn't do much right in terms of pop culture, but it had the best cartoons out there. I always buy 80's cartoons released to DVD. (Early 90's were good too) I recently bought Ducktales season 1, Chip 'N Dale Rescue Rangers season 1 and The Muppet Show season 1. ;D
-
I watch the Boondocks and lots of anime.
-
Invader Zim-damn cool.
I would continue to watch that if it still came on. Funny cartoon. I've been tempted to buy the DVDs on more than one occasion.
-
Futurama, Familly Guy, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Kevin Spencer (if your Canadian) and sometimes South Park if I can catch it.
-

Enjoy!
Thanks, Vivec. That was great! I would recommend that y'all download it before Google takes it off because of copyrights and whatnot.
-
That one episode alone has so many good quotes...."WHY WAS THERE BACON IN THE SOAP!?" "I MADE IT MY SELF!"
-
Family Guy and South Park, I always watch them. I usually catch the Simpsons and Futurama now and again too.
Tom and Jerry is another I love, they may be old but I laugh every time I see them.
-
It's all about Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
I also watch ones geared towards youngner audiences with my daughter, but cartoons these days aren't what they used to be. The stuff that was popular in the early to mid '90s are the children's cartoons I love to watch. Even at 20 I still like them ;)
-
Ah, the 90s was a second golden age for cartoons.
Animaniacs, all the original Cartoon Network stuff, The Simpsons before they went bad.
Good grief, I'm feeling nostalgic ::)
-
Dont forget the classic Nicktoons such as Doug, RugRats, and the Ren and Stimpy Show! (in that order)
-
They were gold, Pinky and the brain for life.
-
Does anime count, lol
But yeah, I watch the normal cartoons. Simpsons (even though it sucks now), Family guy, ect
-

Mourn with me Sam.
I was going through various cartoon distributors (YTV in Canada, Cartoon Network) And I was looking at all the golden stuff released during the late 80's early 90's. over half of it you couldn't buy. The stuff you could buy was on VHS. Some of the stuff on DVD was $200+ (IE: 5 episodes from the 1993 X-men series).
All I have left from my childhood is a bunch of taped cartoons (half of which have been taped over) and anything I can find online. (I heart the internet)
-
Ren and stimpy, Samurai Jack and occasionally sponge bob squarepants also untold amounts of 'adult cartoons' like southpark, full metal alchemist and cowboy beebop
-
whoever said full metal alchemist was an adult cartoon, huh? I dont think it is.
I watch south park, Invader zim, Ren and Stimpy, Elfen Lied, Aqua teen hunger force, Ed edd and eddy, ect.
-
They've got some pretty intense stuff goin' on in full metal from what I've seen. Definitely not kiddie themed situations.
-

You don't think THAT is an adult cartoon? Seriously I never saw it before and I remember it mentioned in this thread, so I turned it on. What do I see? A women shoots her finger THROUGH a mans chest and interrogates him as his clothes become soaked in blood. Maybe I'm just old fashioned and used to carebears (literally) but I seriously don't see that as a "kids" show.
-
i do see it as a kids show, just not the same type of kids show as carebears.
-
what when they have people's brains being blown up, they imply a woman was gang raped, frequent mentions of war atrocities and the fact that they do show the consequences of the death of a loved one and the emotional trauma that goes allong with it.
-

Its good wholesome fun.
-
Exactly my opinion. :) Also I would like to add that that isn't really all that bad, if you do you have to be american.
-
ya, im an american, thats why I see it as a kids show.
just something about it. you may say its "like" an adult show because it has some refrences to some quote unquote adult material, but I do believe it was made for children
-
Just in case it zipped over anyones head that good wholesome fun comment I made was meant to be irony.
-

Who in their right minds would let their children watch that?

The people Jack Thomson should really be blaming.

Yeah I think (hope) you guys are using the term "kids" and "children" in the wrong context. If someone is 14 are they still a "kid" or a "child"? Because I have much less of a problem with someone around the age of fourteen watching that then someone who is say.. eight.
-
I would say the age rang between like 9-13 ish
-
i still like to watch Teacher's Pet when it's on.
-
. . . . . wtf?
isn't that a hentai ?
-
I would say most anime in its unedited form would be considered insane to show to children in the Western world, particularly here in the States. I saw shows on TV in Japan that were meant for kids that included rampant nudity, some pretty graphic violence, and a variety of insanely disturbing images -- one being a dog pinned to the side of a tree by a large metal spike. [And no, I don't know which show that was --- sorry.] The chimera notion alone makes FMA questionable, in my eyes anyway, for kids under the age of fourteen or fifteen, but it's pretty common to see kids under ten watching it in Japan.
-
yes see,
as I said,
kids show,
:P
-
The Japanese in general are just really unconcerned with violence... and yet they have some of the lowest murder rates in the developed world.
-
I don't know if this has been mentioned, but if you watch Dragon Ball Z unedited, that show is freakin' cracked out. They even didn't air a few episodes because there wasn't enough left after they'd cut everything. Really they just don't have as high a standard for their shows as we do. And by that I mean content standards, not that their shows suck or anything. MXC BEH-BAY!!!
As for the poll, I still love cartoons. There's the ones everybody likes, such as Family Guy, South Park, Invader Zim, etc. But I also really dig shows like the original Batman cartoon. I just bought all the seasons on DVD, and I'm really surprised at how good they are. Plus the original Speed Racer was awsome.
-
Well, aside from anime, I still tune in to South Park or Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy sometimes.
-
I just bought season one of C.O.P.S and Gargoyles. Those defiantely take me back.
-
Besides south park and family guy, I barely watch any cartoons now-a-days. But I miss back then when Nickelodeon was actually good, with shows like Doug, Afraid of the Dark, Rugrats, Rocko's Modern Life, and etc.
-
You can get Are You Afraid of the Dark Season 1 I picked up that too (and Eerie Indiana).
-

omg, i loved rocko's modern life. does anyone watch Filmore! ?

New episodes of Dexter's Laboratory are always good. :D
-

-

has any1 here seen the anime dead leaves?
sooo fckn crazy
-
Futurama, The Simpsons(The old episodes they air on UPN, but I do sometimes catch the new ones airring), and South Park. Sometimes I'll watch Spongebob too, Spongebob rules. I also watch Super Robot Monkey Team Hyper Force Go.......because c'mon, look at the title!
Anime sucks.

Having grown up on both western shows and anime, I hold no nostalgia filters for the flaws of either.
However, I do still watch both.
Remember, kids, there may be purple hair in a lot of anime, but Doug has people with purple skin./rant.
OK, let's get back on topic, shall we?

So yeah, how big is the power disparity between the localized versions of Digimon and Pokemon, exactly?
-
Nerf Pokemon, Pokemon are overpowered.
-
Makes you wonder how durable the people in Pokemon are to survive Pokemon attacks! :D
Also, seeing as most planet-busting attacks merely produce several meter-wide craters, I wouldn't put it past the planet for it to also be a Pokemon! ;D
With that said, Pokemon simply can't compete, (http://forums.spacebattles.com/showthread.php?t=191022) and the most broken one can, at best, just stalemate Digimon's equally broken guy.
-
I feel like the direction this conversation is taking is the best one.
I feel like more threads need some Digimon love.
-
Time to talk about a good cartoon.
I've recently been watching Batman the Animated Series. It is a good cartoon.
Mark Hamill is the best Joker.
