can't wait to see the shirts

edit: saw the shirts and I like.

More edit: Now that i listen to the podcast, thanks for answering my question I got more info then I was expecting and learned something too. Also on the topic of game shows/expos there is PAX aka the Penny-Arcade Expo http://www.pennyarcadeexpo.com in Seattle, Wa USA. well it's in Belleve but I'm sure most of you don't know where that is (It's 10 minutes away from Seattle) so I say Seattle not to confuse outsiders.

any way I mentioned this on the main page comments but thought i would go into More detail here because they don't have a whole lot of info on the site right now. But they have bands, game demos, a ton game systems set so people can play against each other (tecken, halo, and the like) you can bring your pc, they have an area for table top gaming, card games and there were people who were just playing cards. They also have a contest where they pick people more or less at ramdon to compete against each other in games like duck hunt, teken, ddr (I'm not sure what games they played last year but it was a mix) and the winner won every game and device that came out for the NES brand new. I kid you not, yes they even had R.O.B. and the glove. A guy I worked with worked as staff for it and said he had a blast.

If you register before March 31st you can get in all three days for just $35 (or there abouts). so i hope that helps any one who is interested in this sort of stuff. I think I going to get my tickets now. on a side note, I'm hoping there will be REV demo stations this year, I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Don't worry too much about people not noticing the loss of the actual "game thoughts" section, Steve. Your insights from the rest of the show, game news in particular, and the side rants you trow in when a topic gets you going, provide pretty much the same info in a more dynamic format. People didn't mention it becuase there wasn't anything, other than the title, missing.

Great podcast, as usual. I had actually thought that Game Talk had disappeared some time ago, but it always seemed to be just an expanded section of the news, so I could never be sure. I just remember the music. ;D

I think the podcast will be stronger with sections being more malleable. Being able to pick 'n' choose what sections to include will probably make each show shorter (or probably not) but I'm sure it'll save lots of time producing each episode. I already thought that a couple sections were dropped from time to time, but I must've been wrong.

SporeTalk will come and go as there is new information on the game. But don't worry, I'll still manage to work some of the game into each and every episode.

Good job with the new format Steve. It makes sense to have certain things come and go. That way if you don't have time one week, no one can be too upset about missing something.

Oh, awesome shirts. I just bought the baseball-t version of it.

Just finished listening to the show, and I loved it. But Steve, I think you misunderstood my question about Phoenix Wright. I wasn't asking wether or not it would come out for Cell Phones, but about there being a chance that the sequels would come out for the DS as well. 'Cause I've heard it's only coming for the Cell Phones. And there is no way I'm buying a new cell and registering with Verizon just to get a new game. Actually, I couldn't, 'cause Verizon is American, and I live in Norway.

It's okay if you can't post your GDC talk, the videos come out on their site within a few months, so we'll see it eventually.

Have fun next week! I can't wait to hear all the talks, especially the part where the different developers have to make a concept for a viable game. Will won last year, so he'll be back with another hilarious concept I'm sure.

Heres info on the 'wiki-ghost' you were on about http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Votes_for_deletion/Steve_Glicker

Seems hardcore wikipedians don't think your worthy :P
That was years ago. I think that, if not steve himself, then at least the show is worthy of an article.

Actually only 8 months ago, but we've come a long way since then. Everyone Go and Vote For the Undeletion!

Anti-game study approved by Senate panel.

Now when I heard about this in Gaming Steve's podcast I was at first worried but you know what... nothing is going to come of this for several reasons many of which Steve stated, however, Economically television and movies manifest themselves very much so in the American economy and if they choose to regulate anything it could potentially hurt the American economy. Like.. if they choose to regulate movies or television, or tell Cellular companies they can't display internet on their phones, the companies might in turn boycott or go bankrupt because of the money they would lose if this happened. So everyone can be assured that nothing major is going to happen.

And if it does, well then you can't really stop the apocalypse to come lol  ;)

Three points of clarification:
1)  Steve is not talking at GDC, he's talking at I-Con the day right after GDC ends.
2)  Will Wright will not be part of the Game Design Challenge this year at GDC.  One reason could be that the Game Design Challenge is right after his keynote I believe, although there is a lunch break between them.  The other reason could be that he's won all three challenges, and maybe they thought having him win every year wasn't making it so much a "challenge" as "get beaten by WIll Wright".  Or maybe he got sick of doing it.  Regardless, Will will only be speaking as a keynote this year, but it is his first GDC keynote I believe (yes, the Spore demo was just a lecture last year, and as a result the room wasn't nearly large enough to hold everybody that wanted to see it.)
3) This isn't a point of clarification, but on the note of seeing videos, Gamespot last year aired the two keynote speakers for GDC, in fact I believe that's the only talks they aired.  There could be a good chance that they'll do that again this year, meaning that WIll Wright's keynote could be available that day online to watch.  No promises.

This was actually the first podcast I listened to in its entirety (I usually listen to the news, Sporetalk, and final thoughts, and skim through the rest), and man it was tiring just to listen to the entire thing!  Now I understand how hard it must be for you to make it every week.  But I enjoyed it.  I actually ordered TIcket To Ride PC as I listened to the review, but I was actually really interested in playing this game after hearing a bunch of people talk about the board game version.  A PC version makes it easier for me to play without having to gather people to play a board game.  I also had never heard anything about Phoenix Wright coming to cell phones, but that could be the first (and only) series of games for the phone I would consider buying.  I was just about to get a new phone plan soon, so I guess I should research to make sure I have a phone that can support Capcom Mobile.

Good 'cast!

Funny thing about the mall, the mall has more submarines than the Canadian Navy.

I personally live about 45 mins from the mall of america... and yeah its extremely big. Very very big as a matter of fact. But by the number of times ive shopped there and such, its not so bad. So to hear how big the Edmunton mall is, wow. The mall of america definately does not have half of the stuff he listed. If all of that is enclosed in the same structure, thats a mighty big facility. I wouldn't even call it a mall, it sounds like some sort of a futuristic living facility found on Mars. ;)

And great show Steve. Ill definately be peeling myself away from Oblivion every week to still listen to your show. I won't even be doing that for my own family. ;D

Good question from the listener who asked about Adom (a game which I had never heard of before - and I'm a big Rogue-game fan.)  I downloaded Adom last night and it is very interesting and very deep.  It reminds me of another Rogue type game called Omega, which I consider one of the best of it's kind.

At the end I gave it a 5 out of 5. Might have been mixed in with the last minute or so, but it was 5 out of 5.

I just realized, Our one year anniversary episode was episode 42. 42. That number keeps popping up in the most strangely significant of places. This deserves a thread.  ;D
