Have you tried to get people interested in Spore? If so, how did that fare?
-
No I didn't actually and I don't see why I should really.
-
I tryed in world of warcraft and I was booted out of my guild. :'( meanies
-
No i didn't try because they need to find out for themselves.
-
I've got 2 friends got interested in spore!! ;D
they will buy it once they seen it here (when I bought it) and think its nice(OF COURSE IT IS) :P
-
Ive mentioned it to my fellow guildies in WoW also, I wasn't booted of course the honestly they didnt seem to care.
-
I've posted a few places but nothing big happened. THe one thing I do remember is telling my older brother about it and he was all like ug I don't think thats going to be that great. A week later hes like "OH Hey! My friend sent me an email about Spore. Wow thats going to be great!"
Thats bastard. Well he loves the game now so I guess I should be happy.

Yep realy got to some people ;D.(maybe why you have gotten a few new people ;))
-
i told my brother about it, and he is definitely looking forward to it.
-
frankly.. I dont think you can really have lots of interest from others for spore in fighting games ?. LIke it's as if you would go to a quake server saying that dreamfall is going to come out :P
-
Ummm I don't know about that. A lot of people that are really into games like all genres, and can be intrested in any. I actually usually hate FPS yet lately I've been playing Ghost Recon and Call of Duty on the 360 a lot and have liked it.
People change, Also if you read a few of the replies on those forums a lot of people actually got intrested in it after being told.
-
I have attempted to tell people about Spore, but it turns out everyone I told was already waiting for the game.
-
Interestingly enough...
Ive managed to get 6 people interested in spore, mainly my close friends who i showed the video to but Ive also gotten some people interested by the article in game informer! Ive had it posted on the front of my folder and shown it to people!
-
Heh yes, lets get more recruits for the pending destruction of the galaxy.MAHAHAHAHAHAHA :D ;).
-
I spoke to a few people in my AP Bio class and everyone of them was interested, even the ones that literally had never played a video game before.
My teacher said he will absolutely be playing it. :D
-
I told it to my friends but they saw only the official pictures, and when they saw the willosaurus city, and the willosaurs in the tribal age, they didn't get interested. I tried it on the internet, I opened Spore topics on the biggest Hungarian sites(I'm Hungarian). It was better, because i can give a link to the GDC and if they saw it, they can understand the game.
But I can't make my friends to sit down and watch 1 hour long presentation!

Suggestion:skip the hour and show them the good bits (planet explosions, etc etc).I have a prob like this with one of my Friends.Hes not as into games like other people. But he likes the Sims ,so maybe he might like this game :-\.
-
Yes, but still, the pics should be about a more serious gameplay. hardcore gamers doesn't like this cartoonist style.

I had been discussing the future of games development with a friend and I suggested that it would make more sense to generate environments automatically rather than having desginers create every item in a next gen game. he said it would never work. then 2 months later I found the Gamespy review of Spore and got all excited about it. I sent it to my friend and he finally understood my point and he got all excited then complained that I was getting him interested in a game a year and a half before it was due to be released. So now I've corrupted all my NWN friends and fascinated pretty much anyone who will listen with talk of Spore and it's implications. but I reckon I've convinced 10 other people to actually buy it as soon as it comes out.

:D You know what think this topic should be renamed to:----->have you gotten any people to join the intergalactic armies? ;D.Or:----->How many people have you gotten to join the horde.I bet most of these people realy wanna take over the galaxy ;).

Why do all my posts get quoted?

YAY, I'm top of the quoteamid
-
My biology teacher was also very interested in Spore. I have had much success with getting people interested, even people that I doubted would like it. :)
-
I've told all my Friends and so far only one doesn't like it but he hasn't even seen it, :'( :-\
-
Its funny, i got so super overexited about this game, the very first time i saw the 30min video and had a total mental-meltdown combined with several brain-orgasms... since then i have try-ed to show this excellent game to many of my friends, some of them know about it already and some of them got very excited and joined the exited community.
i also sent a link to my mothers husband ho normally who'd jump on new-hitec game engines things like this, he is also ranked as one of the worlds greatest fly-sim modelers and also are in to astronomy ... so i tough that he who'd Love Spore! not only to play with an 3d editor, but also implement and try stuff in world, And visit space ... and so on.
but he seems to reject the hole thing also, apparently he thinks every thing looks silly(?), and he is also very sceptically to how things will work... if at all.
to be honest i dint think he get the game... i mean, he refused to explain what he did not liked... just that it was 'silly looking' .. but if he is complaining about how silly those 1-legged-jumping-frog or those other spider-claw creatures are constructed in the video, that is all about players free-will and nothing about the game nor its engine ...
the only thing other than that... i can Imagen is the shape of the planets, but this is not much one can do about it, sense the alternative who'd be ether VERY LARGE planets, or very plain and booring planates if done in the right scale. (meaning No mountens whatsoever unless of course thy get all magical faded in on zoom)
well, anyway... i don't have any doubt in my mind that this game is going to change the way we look at games and game development. my only dislike is that i found this game when their is several month left(if no delays popups) until release, and i now spend every awaken time in my life thinking on this lovely game is going to be! :P
-
weired anyone thats into bio or astronmy they seem to like it (u see the link here)
and i recruited 3 ppl but one of them are crazy for the game he comes up to me every day and in a exicted mannar asks me if theres a new vid its sad seening the happy go away from his face
and yea i was mad also when i first heard of the game and i found out its out in fall 06 now every day im serious all i can think of spore
-

If I may be so blunt, that's bs. I will bet money I have more play time logged on my comp than 90% of this forum and I LOVE the cartoony style. A true gamer knows graphics don't make a game.
I also got quite a few people interested, but only the ones I knew would be patient enough to watch the whole video.
-
Have you tried to get people interested in Spore? If so, how did that fare?
I made a post on a forum dedicated to the popular web-cartoon Homestar Runner, and I got some more people into it.
-
Well, I think that anyone fearing showing other people the hour long presentation should go to Google Video and search "Spore". They will get a thirty minute game video that, to me, seems to interest people more.
-
I tryed to get some of my programmer friends interested and it worked, easily.
My brother had to watch the video twice before he understood exactly what it was saying, but he is interested now.
I tryed to get some xboxers I know interested...Failed miserably.
-
I've been getting people interested. I'm actually becoming quite the salesman. :P
I got most of my shift back in the Army interested it, but then, we had lots of time on our hands, so getting them to watch the video was easy, I haven't started in on my co-workers here at DirecTV just yet.
Got my old college friends frothing at the mouth over this game. All in all, I don't think this game will hurt for sales when it comes out.
-
Word of mouth and that google video are this games best friends. Really there isn't a whole lot you can disagree with in that video and because its so freaking inovative people are fascinated by it.
-

Well tell them it might\should be coming on Xbox. They sound like XB fan boys to me :D.No matter how good the game,if its a fan boy.......well good luck to you, they wont give a crap no matter how good it is ::).
ontopic:Wow sounds like everyone is getting at least one person into this game, and better yet gets at least one person to crap them self when they see the clip :D.Now,think of this secondairy objective, tell them people to go tell OTHER people ;).But anyway it sounds great that its going well, and it would be even better if we get a even better gameplay clip from this years GDC ;D.
EDIT:oh yes almost forgot. When Spore comes out NOTHING will stop our army's from RULING,nothing will stop the senseless destruction that will come too all MAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
-
I have 5 different Maxis freaks, but now they are all going to college or have boyfriends so no one listens to me. I've sent them all multiple links to this forum and the GDC video, but so far none of them have checked it out. Once they do though, it will all be over and they will sucked in, I'm sure.
-
good i have three ppl and it seems like ppl are recruiting to about 3-5 ppl we will assemble them in Fall 06 and rain fire to those who dont kno about Spore
-
When you download the google video player and play the video yourself, say on your personal laptop or something, the video properties describe it as possibly the best videogame ever made.
-
i've told my brother on random occasions but i think that he has forgotten about it...i will try again..
i ahven't told me friends yet, but i am not sure how they will react to the game.
-
My younger brother doesn't really why I am interested in Spore.
-
I had a long discussion with my biology class (a small class that is easily distracted), and we talked for almost an hour about why a being like a one-footed hopper thingymaflibber (seen in the GDC Video) would survive in the wild and what advantages it might have. Needless to say, my biology teacher is quite interested in Spore.

It sounds exactly like my biology class, we always go off on totally random tangents for ages. None of them know about spore though.
