Title: Weather
Post by: The Evil Blob on April 03, 2005, 04:41:24 pm
It's APRIL and there's snow on the ground. It's just not right! Usually we have fairly decent weather here in Western PA, but apparantly we're not going to today. Anyone else experiencing unseasonal weather?

Well it can't make up its mind here in NC.. hot one day.. then cool.. then rain.. then wind.. I think the Tsunami earthquake might have messed up the weather patterns.  I dread hurricane season this year. Sorry about your snow, hope it warms up soon.

Sporadic in England.  Sunny and warm sometimes, then will randomly turn cloudy and wet... i really don't get it sometimes.

It's been really random here in the California Bay Area. Rainy one week, cool and sunny the next. When I woke up today it was sunny, and then by dinnertime it was raining. :-\

you might be right about the hurricanes, Dennis just came through and droped a bunch of rain but we just got the power back on here on the coast.

Glad you got your power back.. the longest we had was three days. Are you in Florida? I hope everyone who went through it ok. A Catagory 4 this early in the season is not good. What's going to happen in Sept? Yikes!
Title: Re: Weather
Post by: Golgrig on July 11, 2005, 06:32:13 am
Nope, I'm In Alabama... we were extremly lucky that dennis was as compact as it was, so the damage it did was fairly limited in scope.

if dennis is any sign of things to come i hope everyone on the coast is as prepared as possible.

Oh, you did get alot of it. I'm glad your damage wasn't bad.  I'm near the beach of NC and I have a feeling we have a bad one coming soon, prob. in Sept.

not really, somebody likes me cause the mobile area was not hit all that bad

my friends didn't even loose power and water and gas were on, so all in all we're fine.  the first rain band that came through the day before was even worse than the hurricane. just glad Dennis wasn't as bad as we though it was going to be

It wasn't too bad for me, either. I'm in north central Florida and we didn't get it very badly. It was pretty rainy and my internet didn't work for a day, but other than that we were good. We got enough from the hurricanes last year, anyhow.

At my boyscout camp there was enough rain to create a Tsunamiflooding both coasts.

I just read about the weather across Europe and saw pictures of the damage. Has anyone here been affected? It looks like you got hit by a huge hurricane.

*yes, this topic old but it's relevant, I didn't want to start a new one*

I didnt even notice there were supposed to be gales. Ridiculous wind is pretty much the norm on the welsh coast this time of year, so nope, not affected. Lucky that.

It's actually kind of scary, the weather follows me. The Vancouver area recently had hurricane strength winds that took down 3000+ trees in the GVA. Now I'm in North London for a vacation and we're having crazy wind again that's bringing down trees again  :-\

The Isis (name for the Thames as it passes through Oxford) has been horribly flooded for weeks. We haven't been able to get out to row, yet, so we're stuck indoors preparing for Torpids with fitness training and tank sessions.

I know it's not "that" bad, but for what we're used to in the Netherlands, this was pretty serious.

I don't know if any of you have heard of the massive two wave ice storm that hit Missouri last Saturday, but it was really bad. It was the worst one in my city's history. There are people still without power, after a week, and my cousin's neighborhood is like a warzone. It's really bad, they had to call the National Guard and they declared a state of emergency...

Oddly, it's not been too bad in Scotland around where I live. Worse further north, though.

On my Paper Round today, there was masisve wind and hailstones that actually cut my face. It also pissed it down, in the traditional British way.

The winterless winter weather has been driving me nuts. It's been in the 40s where I live, but it finally started chilling down to 20 and there's a little dusting of snow or frost but nothing like it should be. I hope I see some serious snow before spring.

Not even a dusting here.
And serious snow as opposed to like.. whimsical snow?

i think p-luke is a person who lives more country-inward. i live next to the sea. we, the people at the shore, have to do all the hard work to make sure the rest of the netherlands wont drown.

"If you experience Summers lasting more than six months, consult Al Gore immediately*"

*Al Gore may result in a loss of electoral college votes, long slideshows, Nobel peace Prizes and hanging chads.

It's 87F or just over 30C outside right now. I'd be happy if the summer weather only lasted six or eight months.
