Title: Using the Calendar
Post by: Oviraptor on December 28, 2005, 07:44:48 pm
Hey Steve, I was wondering if you ever thought of posting important events on the calender, instead of just birthdays. You could post the dates for GDC or E3 for example. Or you could post events like when the Xbox 360 launched, or when really important games are to be released. I'm sure there could be more uses, but I can't think of any now. It might be good if you link it to the front page somehow, so you could say "Look at the calender for more details" or something, and then people could check.

Just my thoughts. ;)

Excellent suggestion!  And someday you could even post the Spore release date.

Yeah, it'd be pretty cool to also put big game releases and other gaming events on there.

The only problem with the calendar is that for each item added to the calendar it makes a new topic. And you can add just one day at a time. So when I tried to add the GDC 2006 it was going to add five new topics (one of each day), so I'm not quite sure how to handle that without making a mess of the board...

Edit: I figured out how to make it span more than one day, let me know if I have missed any gaming events.

That's awesome Steve. I guess you should only add things to the Calendar when it is topic-able. (<--I think the makes sense)

Edit: Are you allowed to have it link a topic already in existence?

I do not believe so ... I think it has to be new. I have added GDC and E3 for now, let me know if you can think of anything else.

Maybe the site's one year anniversary? Which as far as I know, is March 15th. Other than that , I can't really think of anything (at least not yet).

That is cool, the way the calender can link to the thread. Thanks for the Expo info Steve.
