Title: Patstalgia: I guess we're talking about RPs now!
Post by: Krakow Sam on May 13, 2014, 04:11:08 am
Hey Pat lets concentrate discussion into one thread instead of over several.

I suppose for my part I've sort of lost interest in RPs that don't have some sort of rules or constraints on the players. I get more enjoyment out of playing when I know everyone is on the same page and there is someone more or less in charge (a GM) to make sure the story stays on track.

Summer is coming up and in between working my summer job I'll probably be pretty bored and have some time on my hands. SO, if people were interested I could set up a play by post (ie right here on the forum) game of Dungeon World. Its a super simple pen and paper RPG, where the players and the GM both collaboratively create the setting and drive the story. What say you.

I still love looking back on the 3rd NEW Superhero RP.  My first proper RP outside of the Spore forum, massive learning experience.

I would be game for that.  I'd love to dust off Grogi Dorfson again.  I had a blast that one other time you ran a Dungeon World game.

Superpower was something I go back to a lot as well. Thought about picking a random point in the old RP and starting it from there and seeing how we'd do things differently.

Pat that's the sort of thinking that gives us movie reboots nobody asked for.  :-\

How'd you find this? That's pretty cool. It's a shame your guide didn't get more attention back in the day, it was pretty comprehensive.

I was looking up RP stuff on Google.

It was a neat thing. I'd change a few things in hindsight though.

Probably make it shorter.

Also the Three Pillars. I mean I guess the document was written to help acclimate newcomers and beginners, but do you need a protagonist or antagonist? I dunno! Do what you want. :3

Man this takes me back. I really cut my teeth on the GS rps back in the day, and now look at me a semi-semi-semi-semi pro writer. God I was so insufferable back then. GS was legit the cloest thing i had to a social life back then, it got a bit grimy but I am glad i cam through the other side okay.

man its so stoked seeing all you old classics still here. I still have all those timelines shuffled in word and g docs around my computers, there was some real solid stuff there, every now and then I just browse through those old threads for some fun fictional history buffing.

Embarrassingly enough I've always flitted in and out, its just my focus kinda drifted elsewhere creatively. I even just tarted my patreon! Oh and I'm also a literal government super scientist, which is cool as well.

Its actually kinda sad to see the old spore rps die out for good though. Used to be whenever they faded out they would grow back up like a tree from winter.

It's the tenth anniversary of the universe, I kinda want to do something special.

How is that a super scientist?

PAX River is basically Alan Moore's Top Ten in real life. Imagine an entire cit dedicated to cutting edge science. Entire departments dedicated to designing fir problems decades from now. machines that exist no where else on earth, emp devices the size of skyscrapers.

And thats just the stuff we can talk about.
