Title: Warning: Dangerous Site
Post by: Huckbuck on September 09, 2011, 06:49:22 am
"Warning: Dangerous Site
Whoa!
Are you sure you want to go there?

http://www.gamingsteve.com/blab/index.php?board=9.... may be risky to visit.

Why were you redirected to this page?

When we visited this site, we found it exhibited one or more risky behaviors."

This is the message I get from my anti-virus software (McAfee sadly) when I visit these forums. Any mod got any idea what this is all about?

lolmoderators

The alert is probably a false positive because of some of the various discussions (possibly about piracy and links to websites labeled as nefarious or something along those lines) that appear in any one of the thousands of posts in Everything Else. It's nothing to worry about. Probably partly your fault, somehow. :D

McAfee does that, its because less than 5 of their users have tried to visit this site according to my friend's comp. Just add an exception into the list of sites, I forget how, and you will be able to view the forums with no negatives.

Mcafee is also a horrible antivirus !_! I've been using malwarebyte's and it doesn't have any problems at all with me using the forum here ^^

Malwarebytes is a very good piece of software. Definitely recommend picking up the full version, it's worth it.

And just to preempt anyone who tries to say otherwise, don't get AVG. It's very bad software and churns out false-positives like it's its job.

What about Windows Security Essentials + Malware Bytes?

The stuff included in the Microsoft packaging is good enough. Though it's usually wise to supplement it with something a bit more dedicated.

COMODO antivirus is pretty much the best antivirus ever. It's also free.
