Title: I Spy: Gigapan Edition
Post by: martyk on May 28, 2011, 02:37:37 pm
So, some of you may have heard of a website called Gigapan.  Using crazy space technology, they are able to create insanely high resolution panorama photos that you can zoom and pan though, looking down at tiny details.  Inspired by a picture I saw elsewhere, I realized we can make a game of this.

This will play out similarly to many other games around here.  I will post a link to a specific gigapan image, as well as a very zoomed in image of something I found in it.  The first person to highlight the location of my image on the furthur zoomed out one gets to pic the next image, either from the same gigapan or another.  After each day or so if nobody finds my image, I will post a new one that's zoomed out a bit more.

Here's how one game may play out:

I give you this image and gigapan.

And then you show me where it is like so:

Simple!

Now for the real thing.  Click on the image to get the link to the Gigapan.  First person to find Waldo wins.  I'm resonably certain you'll need me to zoom out at least once for this one.

Happy hunting!

He's just to the right of the massive orange skyscraper with the blue tip, which is the second one to the left on the largest picture.

Oh please Martyk, I expected a challenge.

Through simple deduction, I have determined that he is by the section 73 sign.

If it's a challenge you want, it's a challenge you'll have.

Find me this stop sign.

Also:

you took that waldo pic from the snapshots, anybody can find it within 10 seconds

He was actually pointed out on another website, which is where I got the idea for the game.  I actually didn't notice the snapshots until later.

Probably not as hard, but definetly more interesting.  Find me this car.

Frankly I'm impressed at how good at this we're proving to be.
