Title: Spore: The Search for Perfection
Post by: Rysworld on August 25, 2009, 05:05:06 pm
In an ammonia sea on a forgotten and alone planet far, far away from ours, odd silicon molecules are forming together. They eventually start to clump into much larger and complex shapes, and eventually formed life. This life (A small cell which shall be named Vegrandis Ieiunium) was the first life on this planet (Called Matris Locus), except for some bacteria like cells. It drifted past many of these cells, which it did not notice. It bumped into a small particle, something close to a bacterium. It absorbed the thing, and it's hunger (Or something like it) was appeased.

(What should we do now? Also, sorry for all those posts before, and my noobish writing)

the rules are just the usual right now, I will add them as I see fit.

Well crud. I actually didn't read your post because I was making a new beginning, Grazony. Oh well. I will change it again if this one is worse.

(Thanks for welcoming me, too. :))

Just kidding. :)
I like this beginning too.

Yay! Joy!

-EDIT-By the way, when I reach 10 votes, I'm going to reset the poll and do an evolution (Not necissarily(sp?) in that order)

-EDIT2-I can has moar votez plez?

Hai rysworld, also I couldn't decide between hunting or feeding.  But I picked feeding.

Hum... Well, should they be seperate or one? (The hunting and feeding options, I mean)

-EDIT-BTW, if I have a 2-way tie I'll do both.

Because I'm a criticizing ass,
odd silicon molecules are forming together

So this is a Silcon based creature?

Did you make sure to do all the research so this will make any sense?

Shut up Puts.

Silicon life forms are possible.
Title: Re: Spore:the Search for Perfection
Post by: Putspooza on August 26, 2009, 08:43:43 am
Of course they are, yet they operate significantly different than carbon lifeforms, so research is required.

Well, the thing I imagine when I think of it is something like a diatom, but made of glass, or a substance similar to it.

well, this is a spore story, and spore is silly enough, so I don't think I'll bother to say "you're wrong about this" and "you're wrong about that" every single update, so just carry on.
Title: Re: Spore:the Search for Perfection

Hum... I just did some research, and it turns out that silicon life forms are most likely not possible, so how about just carbon-based, but with ammonia as a basic solvent?
Title: Re: Spore:the Search for Perfection
Post by: Kenobro on August 26, 2009, 10:35:20 am
Screw physics, it's your call.  If you want it to be silicon then make it silicon.

BTW, I think only having 9 votes and locking the poll is kind of early.

Technically, the estimated ratio of carbon-to-silicon is about 10 to 1, and silicon is the second best known element at forming life. So go ahead, make a silicon creature. We could use more of them.

How about you decide?

I think that silicon with ammonia as a basic solvent is fine.
Title: Re: Spore:the Search for Perfection
Post by: Rysworld on August 26, 2009, 01:40:20 pm
Well, it's decided. We have a silicon-based creature in an ammonia sea.
Title: Re: Spore:the Search for Perfection
Post by: Putspooza on August 26, 2009, 01:58:43 pm
Fine then, just saying, silicon bonds are weaker than carbon ones, at least the ones for "sliconhydrates" or whatever is the silicon equivalent of carbohydrates. so silcon creatures will require much more energy, or that they will be forced to spend low amounts of energy, hence the "slow growing crystaline" theory of possible silicon life.

Note: I have no idea about anything in chemistry, and that post is composed of things I've heard from people who heard them from people who know chemistry, so don't go and shout "NO YOU'R WRONG" and ignore me.

Also remember to keep a low cap on how many votes to wait for. 10 is good since this section of the forum only has a population of 10 active people.
Title: Re: Spore:the Search for Perfection
Post by: Rysworld on August 26, 2009, 02:09:45 pm
Well then, I guess its time to evolve.

As Vegrandis Ieiunium searched for more food, it found a group of bacteria. It realized (Or as close to realization as something with no brain can get) that to eat them, it must chase them, and so it did. It did not catch many, as it's speed was still poor, but it's hunger was appeased, and it learned how to hunt.

Stats:

Attack:1(bumping and ramming)
Defense:1(cell membrane)
Speed:Very slow
Transportation:Wiggling
hunting/feeding:Single,osmosis
Hunger:2/10
Skills:hunting
Senses:N/A
Size:10 micrometers

(By the way, please tell me if there are any options I am missing or should have in the poll)
Title: Re: Spore:the Search for Perfection
Post by: Grazony on August 26, 2009, 02:26:25 pm
Improve speed. Vegrandis Ieiunium might need it for later when meaner cells come into play.

Yeah, but I voted speed anyway so we can catch more stuff.
Title: Re: Spore:the Search for Perfection

It's time to evolve, because eleven is my cap number.

As the Vegrandis Ieiunium wiggled along, it decided to swim closer to the surface than normal for a little bit, but then decided against it. It did, however, manage to become slightly irradiated because of the radiation of it's star. This caused it to mutate a nerve cell, which was passed down to the next generation.

(Sorry about the bad writing)

Stats:

Population:1/10
Attack:1(Bumping and ramming
Defense:0.5(Cell membrane)
Speed:1(wiggling)
Hunting/Feeding:Osmosis
Hunger:3/10
Skills:Hunting
Traits:Multicellular
Senses:Touch(Very poor)
Size:14 micrometers

Evolution time!

The Vegrandis Ieiunium squirmed along with it's tiny body. As it hit a crystal, it's "brain" received very odd sensations, euphoric ones, ones that it had never felt before. As it hit the crystal again, trying to feel that way again, something odd happened. The crystal sent a wave of energy through the vicinity, mutating the surrounding cells. Some of the bacteria grew larger and more orange, and some of them grew flagellae. Our cell, however, grew a cell wall around it's body cell.

(Event! Two new species have appeared! One is named velox frons (The brown ones with flagellae), and the other is amplus minor (The big, orange ones))

Stats:
Population:1/10
Attack:1(Bumping and ramming)
Defense:2(Cell wall)
Speed:1(wiggling)
Hunting/Feeding:Osmosis
Hunger:3/10
Skills:Hunting
Traits:Multicellular (2 cells)
Senses:Touch(Very poor)
Size:20 micrometers

So, anyway, on with it. I have decided to make it a contest, with the prize being my vote goes to your choice in the poll. PM me the picture, and I will decide the winner, to whom I will then send a PM to saying he or she has won the right to draw our cell after each evolution, along with two runner-ups, in case the winner cannot update on time. This contest will end on September 21, if I can post on time. Please post any question, comments, or objections in this thread.

Title: Re: Spore:the Search for Perfection
Post by: Rysworld on September 10, 2009, 03:24:41 pm
Evo time! This happens directly after the last evolution.

The crystal broke into pieces, most of which floated off somewhere else, to be consumed later by something else. (foreshadowing?) One, however, simply floated toward our little hero, and got consumed by it. This caused it to grow many, many more cells, and many, many time it's size. Afterwords, a predator slowly drifted past, but did not sense it.

Stats:
Population:1/10
Attack:1(Bumping and ramming)
Defense:2(Cell wall)
Speed:1(wiggling)
Hunting/Feeding:Osmosis
Hunger:3/10
Skills:Hunting
Traits:Multicellular (14 cells)
Senses:Touch(Very poor)
Size:140 micrometers (Human egg size)

Oh, yes, a question. How many micrometers is a millimeter? I think it's a thousand, but I'm not quite sure.

It be updatin' time!

Our cell, Vegrandis, was traveling along, but quickly got caught in a current. He was swept away by the current to somewhere East, where the species were much more numerous. There was a big red cell (Magnus venter) eating a small green cell (sero perussi), but also some more bacteria as well. Soon, another piece of crystal was found and consumed by Vegeta (Our cell's nickname), giving it a small gland inside it. This gland could produce small amounts of electricity, which would help Vegeta fend of the new predators here. Speaking of which, one of them seems to notice us...

(Events! Vegeta gained the skill "zap", and a new evolutionary path has opened!)

Stats:
Population:1/10
Attack:1(Bumping and ramming)
Defense:2(Cell wall)
Speed:1(wiggling)
Hunting/Feeding:Osmosis
Hunger:4/10
Skills:Hunting, Zap

Dangit Wikipedia! Look:

Human and mammal ova

In the viviparous animals (which include humans and all other placental mammals), the ovum is fertilized inside the female body, and the embryo then develops inside the uterus, receiving nutrition directly from the mother.

The ovum is one of the largest cells in the human body, typically visible to the naked eye without the aid of a microscope or other magnification device. The human ovum measures between 100 and 200 Ám in diameter, while a more accurate measure would be 120 Ám.

Update:(This one I will try to write in the form of a textbook)

As time went on, Vegrandis Ieiunium was receiving more and more attention from predators, and only the ones with the largest electric sacs were successful in warding them off. Thus, the ones without electric sac's population got thinner and thinner, and eventually died out. Now, only the ones with the largest electric sacs remained, and fed the most.

(Event! We have changed our name! It is now Desumo Ieiunium!)

Okay, since nobody objected, it's update time!

Vegrandis, bothered more than it would like from predators, evolved it's zap gland until it regained itself in the food web as the middle omnivore, and resumed eating alga(large peach cell) and bacteria(small brown cell), and was appeased from it's hunger.

Evo time!

I am hungry once more. I chase, I fail, for I am not fast enough. The prey has grown tails to outrun me. I, still hungry, grow once more, grow many tails, and I catch much prey-food, for I am faster now. I ponder. Why? Why do I ponder? What should I ponder? That is what I ponder. I give up on pondering for now, and go look for more prey-food. I smell danger, near to me, far too near.

Update:

As Desu swam through the liquid ammonia seas, it ran into another crystal. This one was another color. How odd, it thought, as it consumed the lighter-than-normal crystal. This time, Desu was more affected, for the crystal got closer to it's core, where it kept what served as it's DNA, before dispersing it's liquid contents. Desumo quickly realized that it was growing, in more ways than one. It noticed many creatures he did not before, such as Amplus Sero Perussi, a much larger version of the previous peach-colored bacteria. It also noticed that the amount of light and the shallowness of and in the water varied, depending on which direction he looked. Wait... looked? Yes, Desumo now had the power of sight, and was much larger. But he did notice one of those large red things coming toward him... Of course, it could be just as well going after the bacteria between them...

Desumo Ieiunium was swimming through the water, when it came across an extremely large crystal. It decided that since crystals had been helpful to it so far, that this one was most likely going to help it. It ate the crystal- *BRGHZP*...

When Desumo woke up, it realized that it's body form had drastically changed, that it's electric sacs were larger in comparison to the rest of its body, and it's body was much larger, too, and it had horns! This was interesting. Though it appeared that all of it's brains had melded into one...

One sec, making update...

-EDIT-
Puni, over many years, and out of necessity, moved it's electric glands forward, toward it's pincers. it then created smaller glands inside the tips of it's pincers, making them glow. this attracted things with eyes, especially the red thing. This eventually made the red thing exctinct. Also, it appears that some of the plants have evolved into multi-celled plankton, so it looks like a race to evolve is about to start...

It showed the "Thing". Erm, it's rather hard to explain, my brain seems to be trying to dump the memory. The guy seemed to... Hmm... It looked like his chest broke open and something "slithered" out. The thing. It was gross. Disturbing. Overall yucky. And I almost watched it again O_o

if this thing ever gets into the RG, then we'll have some neat RPs, methinks.

just think: an RP where instead of zombies (as seems typical of there parts nowadays), there's these things, and you can't tell whether your friend is your friend anymore, or a monsta...

Title: Re: Spore:the Search for Perfection
Post by: boswell25 on November 06, 2009, 06:21:24 pm
Heh.Sure.

If you're confused after watching it,I'll sum it up.It's a shapeshifting parasite. It perfectly imitates anything that it's eaten before, and can also mix together different species and make horrifying hybrids that are seen no where else.

What better way to have perfection than to be able to imitate the best of your enemies?Imagine an RPG where you ARE the monster, and you will manipulate your enemies to do your bidding. This would especially be awesome when it get's to space stage. For now,we should have a primitive form where we can only imitate minor things about our enemies like bigger pincers, eyes, some parts of their body, minor memories, things like that. Then,we can evolve it to better things, like perfect imitation and becoming massive blobs of fleshy destruction.

Puni, over the years, didn't change much, they only grew larger. But the plant-like creatures around them exploded into diversity, now having many species and filling many niches. The new ones were a ribbon like one, an m-shaped one, and a small fork-like one.

Alrighty then, there's five votes. One sec, making update...

-EDIT-
In the fifty thousand or so years since we last saw them, Puni hasn't changed much, though it has changed. Oiginally, Puni's jaws were slippery and smooth, leading to many creatures escaping Puni while in it's jaws. Now, Puni's jaws have inward-facing spines, ensuring a much higher hunting success rate, and also damaging the prey so that it dies faster, giving it less time to wiggle out of Puni's grip. Unfortunately, this also means that Puni is so complicated that osmosis will not work for feeding anymore.

Evo time, my friends.

Evo time indeed.

Puni, after undergoing a biome-wide hibernation, collectively woke up. They immediately started to mate in a frenzy, all three genders going wild in an orgiastic collective mating. Because of this, it evolved quite rapidly. In fact, it evolved a secondary brain, making it that much smarter. Oddly enough, other life-forms didn't seem to evolve that much.

(Event! Puni gained ability: Think!)
(Event! Species change: Arbitror Ieunium!)
(Major event! Genus change: Arbitror Duos Sententia)

As close as can be compared, there are male, and the female is split here into two genders, one which accepts the genetic material, and one which gestates and gives birth to the "babies".

Also, I didn't expect this to become notable at all. Awesome.

Anyway, on with the story.

As time went on, prey became more and more scarce, forcing Arbitror Duos Sentenia (Let's just call him Gemini, shall we?) to evolve. Gemini, to cope with this, grew a primitive digestion system, as well as some primitive enzymes to dissolve them into a kind of slurry, which Gemini then absorbs.

(Event! Arbitror Duos Sentenia was given a common name: Gemini)
