Wait, so it's COD: 4: 2?

That said, CoD4 was great so hopefully this one will be as well.

Dudes. night vision goggles. ok, they might not be Gen 2 or 3, but hey, mass produced Goggles = Cheap goggles! On zeh interwebs you'll have to give at least 350$ for a little ugly handcam-like night vision. Now, you'll probably get the same quality in an awesome Shape which you can put on your head ánd A über populair video GEAM which has a huge playabillity.

i'd say that 150$ is absolutly worth it.

..and if they sucks balls and i can't see **** in the dark, well then i'll use them for my Blackwatch Cosplay or something...

Technically the title isn't "Call of Duty: MW2" but just "Modern Warfare 2"...

So getting the prestiege edition.  I was planning on buying a pair of nightvision goggles anyway.

Saw the clip in question yesterday. Yes, it is pretty shocking, especially if you're not expecting it. However....it evokes an emotional response in many people. That's the point. M rating. Adults only. Bout damn time it meant more than "alien titties and gore." Australia needs to get its head out of its ass and catch up to the times. Video games aren't all for children.

Now, Venezuela....they're considering banning games with /any violence whatsoever/ (if I understand correctly).

('pologies for being a bit...angry in this post, but this sort of censorship elicits that kind of response from me)
Title: Re: COD:Modern Warfare 2
Post by: /lurk on October 29, 2009, 06:14:40 pm
Honestly, the game really does deserve an 18+ rating. It's Australia's problem that it doesn't have one for some reason*, not that Australians inherently love censorship.

But I still don't understand why they put this level in the game in the first place. It's really tasteless.

*Michael Atkinson is the reason.

Well if you did some research, 1) Its optional. 2) You aren't a terrorrist, you are an infiltrator and have to join the band to gain their trust to take them out. 3) Its supposed to envoke the horrors of terrorism.

GTA4 lets you go on a rampage anywhere, how is this scene in an airport suddenly 'tasteless'?
Title: Re: COD:Modern Warfare 2
Post by: Skyward on October 29, 2009, 06:20:43 pm
Well the same people who consider the airport scene tasteless, most likely believe GTA is also tasteless.
Title: Re: COD:Modern Warfare 2
Post by: /lurk on October 29, 2009, 06:28:03 pm
GTA is pretty tasteless, but at least it's abstract and disconnected from reality. This, very much less so.

Anyone who takes part in terrorist atrocities is a de facto terrorist. And then you fail at killing their leader anyway!

EDIT: Also, GTA is fun.

Perhaps Hostel or Saw is a good example...slightly different, but similar? Wanton murder and whatnot. Sadism. Etc. I don't believe those series evoked the amount of outrage this had. Then again...I don't think many movies show people getting gunned down in airports, so it's not exactly the same.

Im really, angry with IW at the moment. They have decided that the PC version won't have dedicated servers so no Clans, Community's, Leagues, Competitive play. So im very tempted to Boycott CODMW2, and or wait till they get there act together and decide not to alienate pc gamers with a god damn console match making system ( yes it works in L4D but completely different game style). The reasons for making it a matchmaking system are so that, people who DON'T play Pc games can get into multi player with a simplistic option, however those that get confused with a Server browser, probably don't have the intelligence to be able to Install the game, put the disk in, or start the computer it self. So yeah sorry about my rant, but they have really ballsed this up.

Rant over, I may Borrow a mates (console copy) for SP but i wont do multi player on the xbox. ( 8 yr old's x100 with mics screaming)

I almost forgot, Heres the petition for dedicated servers. Please sign it :P http://www.PetitionOnline.com/dedis4mw/

I pre-ordered this. I would have got it for the PC, but none of my friends really have good gaming computers.

That, and IW gave the PC version a huge middle finger by removing dedicated server support.

Either way, it wont be too bad on the Xbox, and at least this way I get split screen for Spec Ops.

Umm patman, Too late replace ready with EX. CSS 3 years in CAL before cal died, and ESL and ED. same with TF2 (different leagues though) and HL2 dm ( not for long on the DM though) and not forgetting the first COD:MW. So hence me being competitive.

Well first off there are new mechanics to the game. It plays like a CoD game but, multiplayer has some more depth to it. The story is interesting and worth it in my opinion. Go for it if you liked the first you will like this one.

The Special Ops mode of this game is insane. Spent several hours this weekend with my brother playing these challenges at Veteran difficulty. We actually managed to beat several of them, though using slow, and potentially cowardly tactics. Echo Squad challenges are especially nasty, culminating with the penultimate challenge of slaying 10 juggernauts with only explosives and a knife and the ultimate challenge of slaying 15 juggernauts with only a machine gun and a grenade launcher.

We only managed the second to last challenge on normal difficulty, and even then, only barely!

I hate those guys with a passion. Also, is the one mission a remake of one in MW1 in addition to that the one level seems to be incredibly based off one in Cod:2 the multiplayer map with the trenches is what I am referring to.
